Why Healing Takes Time?

Aug 13, 2026
What if you’re not failing to heal, you’re just still teaching your nervous system that the danger is over? When trauma is involved, the brain can store emotional memories differently. A reminder can activate your nervous system even when there’s no immediate danger. That’s why you might know logically that something is in the past, but your body reacts as if it’s happening right now. It doesn’t mean you’re weak. It doesn’t mean you’re stuck. And it definitely doesn’t mean you should “just get over it.” Healing takes time because your nervous system needs to gradually learn that safety can exist again. In this episode, I’m breaking down why trauma can stay so present in our minds and bodies—and why healing isn’t about forcing yourself to forget. Watch our upcoming episode this Thursday at 11AM.
