Los Angeles, United States - August 15, 2026 08/15/2026 03:15 am GMT-0700 South Los Angeles – Street takeovers occurred throughout South Los Angeles, with locations ranging from 103rd Street and Central to Florence and Crenshaw, as well as Imperial and Avalon. Multiple vehicles were seen performing donuts and burnouts near crowds that numbered in the hundreds. The Los Angeles Police Department attempted to disperse the gatherings, but many in the crowd fled to different areas of the city. At one location, a car caught fire, but bystanders helped to extinguish the flames. When police arrived at another scene, they found that vehicles had difficulty clearing the intersection due to gridlock. Initial reports indicated that a silver Infiniti was speeding through red lights, and checks on the vehicle's license plates revealed it to be stolen. When officers tried to stop the Infiniti, the driver fled and disappeared among the large crowd of cars. No injuries were reported.
