Los Angeles, United States - October 12, 2026 10/12/2026 01:52 am GMT-0700 NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – This morning, a traffic collision occurred at the 7900 block of North Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Los Angeles, involving a black SUV crashing into a hydrant and a building. The incident, reported as a hit-and-run, resulted in the driver fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) utilized an engine and straps to remove the SUV from the building shortly before 3 a.m. An investigation is being conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Valley traffic division. According to the homeowner, the crash impacted a laundry room, which was unoccupied at the time of the collision. Initial weather reports indicated that roads were slick due to recent rain, but it is unclear whether this was a factor in the crash or if another vehicle was involved. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and building safety officials responded to manage the water from the hydrant, which was stopped by LAFD approximately 10 minutes after the crash. They also cut power to the house and inspected it for structural damage.
