you can see we're going to be we're going to be taking a look at Sermon on the
0:05
Mount now we can't do it all in one day so I can tell you right now we're going
0:11
to be studying The Sermon on the Mount for the next six weeks because that's about how long it
0:17
takes to go through the Sermon on the Mount it's the longest single teaching of Jesus in the
0:23
Bible and The Sermon on the Mount covers three chapters in Matthew Matthew 5 5
0:30
six and 7 and the groundwork is laid in chapter 4 so we're going to be looking
0:35
at sermon mount in depth but before we get into that s
0:42
Lon um I'm going to give you some numbers this is probably going to blow your mind
0:47
a little bit last Sunday by the time we got
0:52
through having uh ice cream floats and nachos I
0:59
got a message from Facebook we'd had over 200
1:05
people watched last Sunday service by the time we got done having
1:12
root beer floats by the end of the week it was over
1:18
1,200 yeah so if you
1:26
think this doesn't work it absolutely does we are reaching
1:32
people we've never reached before this church has a lot to offer a lot of
1:38
people and now we're reaching over a th people a week in four
1:46
months so when you're praying make sure you you remember to
1:52
pray for those people that are joining our services that are not physically sitting
1:58
in this building thousand people a week actually it's
2:04
over 12200 so um
2:09
86 by Wednesday was over 1,200 by
2:15
today and that's a lot that's something we've never done
2:21
so Aiden can you help me
2:27
out normally I I try to can you make sure everybody gets one and then bring
2:32
those back because we might have some people join us next week that aren't here today
2:37
so one of the uh one of the hardest things to do when
2:45
you're preparing a message like this and by the way I've been working on this for like 3
2:51
months um the Lord spoke to me about it so I started working on it but before we
2:57
actually get into the sermon on the mount can you go to the next slide
3:02
Chris there's five tools and I had Aiden hand these out to you so this is a
3:08
definition of what these are and when you're
3:13
doing when you're studying something in the
3:19
Bible you need five things homolytic hermeneutics ex Jesus Theology and
3:24
Doctrine they all sound like big words right okay that's why I gave you I gave
3:29
gave you handout so you would understand what each one is because
3:36
homolytic is what I do to prepare for teaching a sermon or preaching it's the
3:44
strategies of preaching and providing instruction to a congregation that's what homolytic is
3:52
hermeneutics is the theory and methodology of interpretation especially
3:58
interpretation of biblical text wisdom literature and philosophical
4:05
texts which are all included in the Bible by the way and then ex
4:12
Jesus when you go through to get your credentials
4:17
um you you're going to do a lot of this ex aesus it's the critical explanation
4:23
or interpretation of a text and what it means is it's the explanation of the who
4:28
what when and how how a scripture or scriptures was written and why you hear
4:34
me tell you like when we were talking about third John chap uh verse two how
4:40
the word Prosperity or prosper in that verse has a completely different meaning
4:46
in the 20th or 21st century than it did in the first century okay that's ex aesus that's what
4:53
it is theology is the study of the nature of God and religious beliefs and
4:58
Doctrine is a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by the church these I
5:04
want you guys to keep because when you're studying the Bible for yourself at home these are the
5:11
things that you need to apply to what you're reading and so to get it correct I
5:17
brought one of my books from home you need one of
5:23
these it's a strong as exhaustive concordance and what it has is every single word in the Bible is listed in
5:31
this book if the word Prosper is in there it tells you how many times it's used in the Old Testament how many times
5:36
it's used in the in the New Testament then in the back of it it has a Greek and Hebrew dictionaries they tell you
5:43
what the word means in the original language so you can properly interpret the scriptures you're reading that's
5:49
what these are for if you don't want to go out and buy one of these you can get the app for free and download it to your
5:55
phone so you always have it but if you want to correct interpret scripture
6:01
these are tools you need don't depend on the person standing in the
6:07
Pulpit to tell you what something means that's why the 2 Timothy 3:15 says
6:14
study to show yourself approved unto God a Workman needing not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of Truth why
6:21
because you need to know for sure if I'm telling you the truth okay go to the next screen slide
6:30
so let's talk about The Sermon on the Mount it's the longest single teaching
6:36
Jesus did in the whole in all of his ministry
6:42
longest and in that he defines true Doctrine in
6:49
theology he sets the standard for what we
6:54
believe he goes through and the and he he wants to share with you what the
7:01
nature of God is that's what theology is about go to the next slide
7:06
Chris this is theology this is tough because it's divided into 10
7:17
different areas of study theology proper is the study of
7:23
the character of God bibliology is a study of the Bible christology is a study study of
7:30
Christ patology is the study of the holy spirit soteriology is the study of
7:36
Salvation theological anthrop anthropology it's the study of the
7:42
nature of man hamar theology is the study of
7:48
sin angelology of course the study of angels ecclesiology is the study of the
7:53
church eschatology is the study of end times and those 10 things are known as systemic the
8:00
theology sounds complicated right sounds
8:06
overwhelming how do you eat an elephant one bite at a
8:12
time one bite at a time that's how you eat an elephant you
8:17
never seen the book you never read that book how do you eat an
8:25
elephant you can't get offended over a saying how do you even know off one B at a time
8:32
okay so to all of these types of
8:38
theology Christ included in The Sermon on the Mount it's amazing go to the next slide
8:47
Chris so to truly understand the teaching of what Jesus was doing we need
8:53
to understand who it was written to at the time it was written where it took
8:59
took place who was the audience and what was the socioeconomic
9:05
and political environment at the time I know this sounds like it's going to be a really boring thing but I'm I promise
9:11
you today is the least is the most boring of the whole thing and once we understand this then we can correctly
9:18
interpret and apply the teaching that Christ put in there
9:24
so go ahead and go to the next slide Chris The Sermon on the Mount
9:30
as I've told you already it's the longest single teaching of Christ in the
9:38
Bible it covers three full chapters 5 six and 7 plus the setting which is what
9:46
you need to know to understand this of Matthew 4:23 to2 which I'm going to read
9:51
right now so what happened at the beginning of
9:57
chapter 4 of Matthew Jesus was baptized by John he went into
10:04
the Wilderness the Temptation Of Christ he comes out of the Wilderness he starts
10:09
picking disciples he goes to the wedding in Canaan and then he enters into his
10:15
public Ministry okay in that order this picks up from where he's entering in to
10:21
his public Ministry he's already called the fishermen he's already said come follow me I'll make you Fishers of Men
10:27
verse 23 it talks about it starts with and Jesus went about all
10:32
Galilee teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the
10:38
kingdom and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people and his Fame went throughout
10:46
all Syria and they brought unto him all the sick people that were taken with divers
10:52
diseases and torments and those which were possessed with devils and those
10:58
which were lunatic and those that had the py and he healed
11:04
them and there followed him great multitudes of people from
11:10
Galilee and from decopolis and from Jerusalem and from
11:15
Judea and from Beyond Jordan so Jesus starts his public
11:21
Ministry it's a Healing Ministry it's a Deliverance Ministry he's delivering
11:26
people from all these things he's talking about he's preaching the kingdom of God in
11:32
Repentance and people begin to follow him and that takes him he comes out of
11:37
there and he's uh he's got all these people following him yeah you you remember the the old
11:45
time the old school um tent revivals okay tent revivals the
11:52
Evangelist comes in with this big tent he sets it up people flock to the Tent Revival and he moves to the next town
11:59
and everybody follows him to the next town and then they follow him to the next town that's what's going on here
12:06
people never seen anything like this before so it causes them to follow Jesus and keep following him so
12:14
Jesus being who he is he sees the
12:19
multitudes and he does something he stops and he goes up onto the side of a
12:27
mountain and he sits down and his disciples came unto him and
12:35
all these people that were following and he says and he opened his mouth and
12:41
taught them now who are these people that have been following
12:48
him they're Jews living by the law of
12:53
Moses now they've heard the law of Moses all their lives they've been taught by the Pharisees they've been taught by the
13:01
priests why would Jesus preaching the kingdom cause them to follow
13:08
him because there was freedom in his
13:14
words the things he had to say set them free from the bondage of the doctrine of
13:22
the Pharisees how many laws did God give us
13:29
Ten Commandments Ten Commandments and Jesus summed it up in in he says you can
13:36
you can do all of it if you do two things what are they love God and love
13:41
your neighbor as yourself two things sums up the whole
13:47
Ten Commandments love love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your mind with all your strength and love
13:53
your neighbor as you love yourself if you do those two things you fulfilled the whole Ten Commandments he came with
13:59
freedom because he's telling those people you no longer have to do all this
14:05
stuff over here to get into my presence do these two things and if you do those
14:11
two things and you have a repented heart you can enter into my
14:17
presence and that's why they followed him he had something to tell them they
14:23
had never heard before David didn't say it the prophets didn't say it
14:29
Moses didn't say it only Jesus said it
14:36
so as we're PR preparing to go into this and it's going to take six weeks so
14:41
don't get discouraged be excited here's how the people reacted to what Jesus
14:47
said and it's at the end of Matthew chapter 7: 28- 29 and it says and it
14:53
came to pass when Jesus had ended these Saints
15:00
the people were astonished at his
15:07
Doctrine for he taught them as one having Authority and not as the
15:16
scribes brother Tim you were teaching Sunday school this morning you hit on a
15:21
lot of these things when you're submitting yourself to God you resist the devil and he flees
15:29
from you what are you actually doing you're making a proclamation that
15:36
what God Said is true and what the enemy said is not and then you got to stand there and
15:42
you got to fight for it if you don't think when you take a
15:47
stand and say devil I'm not going down this road he's not going to fight you 10
15:52
times harder than he did you're lying to yourself when you take a stand for God
15:59
when you submit to God the Devil comes at you harder than he ever has some of
16:04
the things that were listed in the in Sunday school this morning he was talking about because I do study my
16:10
Sunday school lesson is one of the questions and it's a big one how come people who are
16:17
basically evil never go through bad stuff the devil doesn't go after his own
16:24
y pretty simple it's Common Sense the devil does not attack his own because if
16:30
he did where would they go they'd start following
16:37
Jesus but when you take a stand he the enemy definitely does not like it
16:44
how many of you decided you're going to do something for the Lord and you started into it and the first thing happened is you got
16:51
sick then broke down then everything went sideways
16:58
and you persevered all the way through all of those things and what happened when you
17:04
got to the other side of that God began to bless you he began to do things for
17:10
you why because you did what he said well Jesus in The Sermon on the Mount
17:17
he's been delivering people from attacks of the Devil he's been restoring lunatic
17:22
Minds yesterday driving over to se bow we we were having breakfast at a place called
17:29
The Corner Cafe if you're in viel go over there and have breakfast it's really good but anyway we're driving
17:35
over we're sitting out in front of Starbucks right after we'd had breakfast
17:40
visiting and this guy came up on a bike don't ask me what drug he was on
17:48
but it was a wild one okay he was out there he's punching his bags kicking his
17:54
bike punching punching these pillars and uh we were sitting there and this
18:03
guy I mean this guy's did all this in like 15 seconds cussing his bike all
18:08
kind of stuff this guy comes walking across the parking lot just
18:14
calm got t-shirt shorts ten shoes and socks on comes walking up he goes
18:21
hey can I buy you something to drink and the guy goes what he goes I
18:27
saw you over here being all frustrated you know it's good for God's people to
18:33
help out people he said can I buy you something to drink the guy didn't know how to
18:40
act this guy Perfect Stranger in the parking lot walks over and gets this guy and
18:47
walks him into Starbucks and buys him something to drink and he bought him something to eat and walks him back out
18:52
to his bike you know the guy stopped he stopped acting crazy he
18:59
stopped acting like a lunatic he sat down on the sidewalk and drank his coffee and I don't know if he got a
19:05
scone or what he got but anyway he ate it and then he jumped up on his bike and he
19:13
left that's somebody doing what God called you to do one little simple
19:22
thing and Jesus talks about that depth In this passage of scriptures go to the
19:27
next slide Chris Sermon on the Mount it's got 19 subjects
19:33
in it and it's Christ teaching on living a life of Faith how to relate to each
19:40
other how to honor God the father in every area of our lives and the proper
19:47
perspective on life and Victorious living now I want you to think about
19:54
this it only took Jesus three chapters to teach on this
20:00
took the Apostle Paul 13
20:06
letters starting in Romans 1 Corinthians 2
20:11
Corinthians Galatians Ephesians Philippians 1 and 2
20:16
Timothy 1 and 2 Thessalonians Titus and
20:22
philimon to explain to non-jews this is important
20:29
what he said in those three chapters because Gentiles had no idea
20:34
who God was they had no idea who Jesus was the Jews
20:41
did that's why it only took Jesus three chapters but it took Paul 13
20:47
letters because he had to he had to lay that Foundation down way where a non-jew
20:54
could understand it this was written to Jews in the first centur
20:59
Cy under Roman rule they were
21:08
abused Romans were brutal and I do mean brutal their laws if you were not a
21:15
Roman citizen were not for you you were regarded as just above an
21:23
animal had no problem that there was no law against a Roman citizen killing a non-roman citizen there was no penalty
21:31
for it if you were a slave they could kill you there was no penalty for
21:37
it they could sell you they could have you beaten they could do anything they
21:43
wanted to you and you had no recourse but if you were a Roman citizen
21:49
that can do any of those things before you if you peeled the Caesar they had to stop what they were doing and take you
21:55
to Rome to appear before Caesar and he had to determine what your
22:01
punishment was that's what they were living
22:07
under and yet Jesus walks in and he gives this Sermon on the
22:13
Mount to them and they understood what he was saying because they were
22:20
Jewish and what he did was open up the things that Moses had said to them so
22:25
they could understand exactly what God was requiring quiring of them but we as
22:31
Gentiles had no idea cuz we were not raised no Gentile had ever really been
22:38
on the inner in the Inner Circle and who' he send to his share it a
22:46
Jew Apostle Paul he said I was a Hebrew among Hebrews a Pharisee among Pharisees a Jew
22:55
among Jews of the strictest set and that's who God chose to send to the
23:01
Gentiles because he understood the law so that he could share to us who
23:07
were not raised under the law what the truth of the Gospel is and so as we're
23:14
going through The Sermon on the Mount we're looking at this from a Jewish
23:20
perspective but we're also looking at how does this apply to me how do I make this work for me and we
23:27
quote parts of it constantly Matthew 6:33 and 34 seek ye
23:35
first the king of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added under you take no thought for
23:41
tomorrow for sufficient to the day is is the evil thereof you guys know that scripture Sermon on the
23:47
Mount The Lord's Prayer Sermon on the Mount the Beatitudes Sermon on the Mount
23:55
how to deal with Gentiles Sermon on the Mount 19 subjects go to the next slide
24:03
Chris chapter 5 so I broke this down by chapter so you would understand what Jesus actually addressed the
24:11
Beatitudes being the salt of the earth teachings on murder and anger teachings
24:18
on divorce teaching on swearing Oaths
24:23
teachings on forgiveness teachings on loving your enemy that's all in chapter
24:32
five go to the next slide Chris chapter six covers teaches on
24:39
giving on prayer on fasting on putting your Treasures in Heaven and how not to
24:47
live a life in worry and chapter 7 covers judging and
24:54
being judged asking and receiving the straight and wide Gates false prophets and rock
25:03
and sand foundations now how many of you would agree with me that covers every aspect
25:10
of a Christian's life Jesus did not leave anything
25:15
out but for us to receive it took the Apostle Paul writing out all of these
25:22
letters to these different locations and Romans The Book of Romans is his
25:29
um cre de la cream it's eight chapters of Theology and eight chapters of
25:35
practical application chapters 1-8 is theology
25:42
chapters 1-8 covers The Sermon on the Mount and every aspect of a Christian's
25:48
life in theory the theological side chapters 9- 16 tells you how to
25:57
apply it in a practical
26:02
way it's the toughest book in the bible to read and study and understand I've
26:07
been studying that thing for over 30 years and every time I open it up I
26:13
learn something new and that is not even a stretch of the truth and I had to take a class on the book of Romans and pass
26:22
it to get my credentials it's required it's a tough book
26:29
we take it in little tiny bites try taking all 16 chapters and have to
26:34
remember it all and take a test on it thank God we have a wonderful God who is loving and caring and will give us
26:41
answers when we need him is there one more slide
26:47
Chris okay it earn it The Sermon on the Mount it ends with the statement that
26:53
those who heard it were astonished at his Doctrine because Christ taught with
27:00
authority and not as the
27:08
scribes this is super important for you to wrap your mind around what
27:16
is said in The Sermon on the
27:21
Mount because it covers everything and will give you
27:27
complete victory ictory over everything if you can apply the principles that
27:33
Jesus taught on he spent his whole time teaching this sermon telling people it's
27:41
not what you see it's not what you think it's what the word says if you apply that it will change
27:49
your life he talks about having the right attitude towards God having the
27:56
right attitude towards other people that's what what the Beatitudes are about okay having correct attitudes
28:02
being humble being Meek having peace blessed are the
28:10
peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God I mean it's all in there
28:15
everything we're supposed to do you have to embrace
28:23
it and you have to be honest about it and ask yourself God God am I actually
28:29
doing this or am I thinking I'm doing
28:36
it examine me examine my heart show me where my motivations are help me
28:43
understand what I need to be doing and go forward from there lord it's
28:52
tough because when it comes right down to it if you're going to live a Victorious Life In Christ
28:58
and do what James said which was submit unto God resist the devil and he'll flee from you you're going to have to fight
29:05
for it he ain't going to give it to you the devil ain't going to roll over and play
29:11
bit he's going to do to you what he did to Christ have you ever read the first part of Matthew chapter 4 when Jesus is
29:18
tempted in the wilderness after he's been baptized he goes what's a devil do tries to make him doubt who he is tries
29:25
to make him doubt who God is and he then he tries to get him to worship him if he
29:31
did it to Christ what makes you think he's not going to try it on
29:37
you you need solid weapons to defend yourself Jesus gave them to you they're
29:44
in The Sermon on the Mount you're not fighting other people you ever had
29:49
somebody who gets on your last nerve and then jumps up and down on it that's not a person that's fighting
29:56
with you that's somebody being influenced Ed by the enemy to fight with you that's a person that you need to
30:02
begin to pray for Jesus said love your
30:07
enemies that's included in
30:13
this and when we get through this I believe you're going to have a
30:18
whole lot more weapons in Your Arsenal than you even realize that you have right
30:24
now and that's the point you have to be
30:29
equipped to be able to go and do what God called you to do you have to have the right
30:35
tools yeah you ever had to work on something had no Tools in your toolbox and wound up borrowing tools from
30:40
everybody you could find trying to get something fixed God doesn't want you doing that he wants you to have tools in
30:46
your toolbox he wants you to have weapons in Your Arsenal and he will give them to you if you understand where they
30:52
come from and that's why we're going into this because I you prepared we're we're
31:00
going to do something that we haven't done in a long time we're getting ready
31:05
to step out by faith and take this town back we're
31:10
starting out by opening up our Ro Rangers and missionet Ministries again do you think the devil wants you
31:16
reaching the kids that live in this town I last Wednesday night when I left
31:22
here I drove through papor on my way out of town I drove past the Church of God
31:29
over here they have Services twice a week on Sunday morning 9:30 and 11: that's
31:38
it I drove past the um well the Spanish assembly it's a SPD
31:45
assembly they have a service in Spanish a service in English both on Sunday
31:50
morning and then on Tuesday night they have a bilingual service and that's it they're not trying to reach the kids
31:57
they're not doing anything like that we're in a
32:04
town that will take these kids and take them on a joy ride to hell and the only
32:10
thing standing between them and that joy ride to hell is the people in this
32:20
church if that doesn't scare you nothing
32:26
will because we can't can't let that generation of kids in this town go down
32:32
that path we took a stand here
32:37
before we had more kids coming to this church than we had rooms to put them
32:42
in we had Royal Rangers we had missionettes we had kids church all of those things do you think God Has
32:50
Changed he has not do you think kids are still important to
32:56
him Matthew chapter 9 Jesus said suffer you the little children uh Mark chapter 9 I'm sorry he said suffer you the
33:02
little children to come unto me hinder them not there's nobody here trying to reach
33:08
them every time I think about what we're preparing to do I think about Nathan ay
33:13
who used to live across the street and me running in into him as a 30-year-old
33:18
man saying the things that happened at that little church across the street
33:23
from my house is the reason I'm saved today yeah I got into gangs I got into
33:30
trouble he says but in the depths of my trouble when I cried out to God it was
33:39
because of the things that I had learned across the street from my
33:45
house and I knew I could trust
33:51
God still serving God today he's in his 40s now
34:01
what you do matters it matters to
34:08
God and it definitely matters to the kids that live in this town and here's the thing if you reach those kids you're
34:16
going to reach their parents eventually their parents are going to want to know what you're doing
34:22
with their kid if they care about their kids at all
34:28
and then you get to witness to the parents and and earlier in the year I
34:34
gave you some statistical information on what happens in families based on who gets
34:40
saved if you reach a dad 92% of the families will continue to go to church
34:46
and stay in church if you get a dad saved if you get a mom saved it's about
34:53
60 if you get a kid saved it's three
34:59
three so I want you to realize just how
35:07
important what we're about to do
35:13
is you ladies that are getting ready to start teaching missionet your mission is through those
35:19
kids to reach their parents and to train those kids what's
35:25
it say in Proverbs 22 and6 train up a child the way he should go
35:30
when he's old he shall not depart from it so you're you're helping the parents get their kids trained but in the
35:36
process you're also trying to reach to that parent through their daughters you men that are going to
35:42
teach Royal Rangers I taught Ro Rangers for 13 years I know what that Ministry does I've been
35:49
in every aspect of that Ministry and I can tell you what that Ministry does you reach that boy you can reach his dad
35:59
because dads are that way if you're doing something good in
36:04
his son's life he's going to come to see you to find out what what's what it is that you're doing that's making his son
36:10
a better a better son it's making his son a better citizen making his son a better member
36:16
of the community that dad's coming to find out that Mom's going to come and find out what are you doing to teach
36:23
this young lady how to be respectful how to be a young lady how to how to live this life and how to have this right
36:31
attitude that they're no longer fighting with that parent anymore to that the parents trying to get them to do what
36:37
they need to do they're coming to see you and when they do you have the
36:45
opportunity to harvest the soul for the kingdom of God everything that we do every Ministry
36:53
that we approach in this church is not about John
36:58
more and it's not about you it's about reaching souls for the kingdom of God
37:04
and letting God built his church however he chooses to build it
37:10
and however he big he wants to build it that tell you God showed me some things in my spirit if they actually happened
37:17
you guys if I told you what they are you guys would call for the men in white
37:23
coats cuz you tell me I'm insane
37:28
but I can tell you for a fact God is not done with this church he's made a lot of
37:35
promises in the past to this church and he's beginning to fulfill
37:41
those promises we are broadcasting live we're reaching over a thousand people a
37:48
week the district office doesn't what to think because they come out here to
37:53
close the church and now it's like
37:58
going to touch that church God's Alive and Well and
38:12
popular faithful you chose to follow
38:19
Christ and you stay do you pray for the people that left this church after brother chck
38:25
passed away you
38:30
should you should be praying for them you should be praying they find a church that that they can go to that they'll be
38:38
serving Christ in that church and not following the pastor because that's a form of idol
38:46
worship you should love your pastor you should have respect for your pastor you should support the Ministries that your
38:51
pastor is trying to do but by no means should you leave the church if he leaves the church or he dies in
39:01
office Chris can you switch to that slide that's got the names of the pastors of this church for the over in
39:07
the past sister Leon she was sharing with
39:13
you this church been here for 71 years 71
39:21
years those are your three previous pastors George Grimsley is the pastor
39:27
who founded this church he came here in
39:37
1953 did you tell her the church is alive and well James
39:44
donie he was the pastor between brother Grimsley and Pastor brother chenn and if
39:51
I'm not mistaken I could be mistaken but he died when he was the pastor here at
39:57
least that's what Eugene told me Eugene Rush said Brother Don died here as the
40:03
pastor and then brother Chen withth came after that brother CH was here for 38 years he was here longer than the
40:10
previous two pastors and he stayed here well past retirement
40:19
age he passed away still serving God still preaching the gospel knowing
40:24
somebody was coming to pick up the mle and go
40:31
forward fell to me now I'm sharing with you it's time
40:38
for us to knock the rust off knock the dust off get our marching boots
40:44
on pick up our swords pick up our
40:50
swords and go forward you remember that song I'm in the Lord's
40:56
army so little kid song they used to teaching kid song I heard it I went to
41:01
church a few times before I got saved and when I say few I could count them on one hand but that's one thing I'll never
41:08
forget my mom sent us to church down in Pixley at the church of nazarin we lived
41:13
in Tipton and I'll never forget the one time I went to the Church of the Nazarene that song they sang in Sunday
41:20
school and everybody who participated got a
41:25
present h I was 10 and I remember that
41:32
song I'm in the Lord's army are you in the Lord's
41:38
army are you Marching In His infantry riding in his
41:44
Cavalry are you ready to take the devil and say you've taken enough we're taking
41:50
it back I've shared with you guys about Donnie Pope and anybody who grew up in
41:55
popper knows who Donnie Pope is is um because of this
42:00
church Donnie Pope got saved but he didn't get saved until he went to
42:07
prison he's been out of prison for about 12 years still serving God he actually
42:14
leads a Celebrate Recovery Group in three different churches now he's clean
42:19
he's sober and uh every time I see him he always says the same thing to me
42:26
would not be here if it wasn't for your church in Poler he said because I was the worst of them
42:34
all and if you talk to somebody from poer who knew him when he lived here
42:42
they will confirm that for you he was the biggest drug
42:47
dealer he was Hell on Wheels in
42:53
popper and then he got popped cuz people in this church started
42:59
praying and calling out his name
43:06
specifically your words have power Jesus told you
43:12
that you have what you
43:17
say now you may say it today and it might not take place for 5 10
43:23
25 years but you're going to have it
43:29
25 years ago God spoke through brother CH and said we were going to we were going to broadcast live from Poler and
43:35
everybody laughed CU at that time One camera cost over 10
43:40
grand okay and all the equipment to broadcast live in 19 it's probably
43:47
1998 would have cost $100,000 to get this church broadcasting
43:52
live you can ask sister lvon how much it cost us to broadcast live
44:01
was under $5,000 that's for everything screens
44:06
cameras equipment uh sound systems laptops everything was under
44:17
$5,000 God made a way where there not seemed not to be one the equipment all of a sudden was
44:24
very low cost now we're reaching 12200 people a
44:32
week our average is 186 people a
44:38
day every day never happened here
44:44
before but God never left here either when he has something for you to
44:51
do takes a while for it to happen but he intends for you to stay with it until it
44:56
does does and so we all are
45:02
encouraged to think back to all the things that God has said to us over the
45:09
years promises he made things he prophesied over this church and I can
45:15
guarantee you just like he made us broadcast live from poor all of those
45:21
things he said he will do we just have to remember that
45:28
and put him in remembrance of his word get everybody to stand with me
