Welcome to M Insights with Pastor John.
0:04
I'm Pastor John Moore and today we're
0:06
going to take a look at the way, the
0:08
truth, and the life. You know, uh the
0:11
reason that we do our live stream at
0:14
this time every week is because we have
0:16
a congregation of uh over 2,000 people
0:20
in Pakistan
0:22
and uh they join us live for our live
0:25
stream every week. This is their midweek
0:27
service. So I want to welcome all those
0:31
uh followers from Pakistan today. Thank
0:33
you for joining us. And uh today we're
0:36
going to take a look at u the way truth
0:39
and the life. This is something Jesus
0:41
said just before he died. And uh the
0:45
text is John 14:6.
0:48
And so before we get in there, let's
0:50
pray. Heavenly Father, we just thank you
0:52
and praise you for today. We thank you
0:54
for your word, Lord. Right now we ask
0:56
that you help us to understand your word
0:58
in such a way as to be a a light and a
1:02
beacon of truth to the whole world. That
1:04
our lives would be lined up with what
1:07
your word says
1:09
and that uh
1:12
and that you help us Lord to be an
1:14
example to others as they see it. In
1:16
your name we pray. Amen. So in John 14:6
1:20
Jesus says Jesus saith unto him, I am
1:22
the way, the truth, and the life. No man
1:25
cometh unto the father but by me. And uh
1:29
you know this is hugely important
1:31
because you have a lot of people out
1:33
here in the world that say things like
1:35
well you know there's many ways to God
1:39
but that's not true according to Jesus.
1:42
And so we're going to take a look at
1:44
what Jesus actually said and the things
1:47
that are important for us believers to
1:50
understand.
1:51
Um, you know, a lot of times we go
1:54
places, never been before. And with
1:57
today's uh abilities with GPS and our
2:01
cell phones that have like Google Maps
2:03
on them and those kind of things, it
2:05
navigates us to where we're going.
2:08
And uh many of us have relied on GPS
2:11
navigation while driving. the system uh
2:14
tells us to turn left uh when we think
2:17
we know a better shortcut or and then we
2:20
wind up being lost late. I experienced
2:22
this in Houston one time uh as I was
2:25
driving through the city. First time
2:27
there uh trying to navigate the highway
2:29
system there. If you've ever been to
2:32
Houston, Texas, you know what I'm
2:33
talking about. Every highway has Peter
2:35
road and you have to get off the highway
2:38
onto the feeder road to get to where
2:40
you're going to go because all the
2:42
freeways go in a circle and if you see
2:44
it from the sky or if you look at a map
2:46
the freeways around Houston, Texas, it
2:50
makes it look like a giant bull. So
2:55
a lot of people are trying to find their
2:56
own reach, peace, purpose and eternal
2:58
life and they experiment with success,
3:01
morality or spirituality thinking those
3:03
paths will get them there. But Jesus
3:06
makes it clear. He's not simply a guide,
3:12
a philosophy or or an option. He is the
3:16
only way. He's the only truth and he's
3:19
the only life. Only by following him do
3:23
we find our eternal destination.
3:26
The setting of John 14. It's pretty
3:29
emotional. Jesus had just told his
3:31
disciples they would soon be leaving
3:33
them and naturally they were troubled.
3:38
He had washed their feet, spoken of
3:40
betrayal, predicted Peter's denial. The
3:44
air was heavy with uncertainty and
3:46
sorrow. Yet in the midst of this, Jesus
3:48
offered word order comfort.
3:51
Let not your heart be troubled. You
3:53
believe in God, believe also in me.
3:55
That's John 14:1. He promised that he
3:58
was going to prepare place in his
4:00
father's house, permanent home for his
4:02
father, that you and me.
4:07
Thomas speaking what the others likely
4:10
felt asked, Lord, we know not whether
4:13
thou goest, and how can we know way?
4:15
That's John 14:5.
4:18
And his honest question opened the door
4:20
for one of the most profound
4:21
declarations Jesus ever made.
4:25
I am the way, the truth, and the life.
4:28
No man cometh unto the father but by me.
4:32
This was radical in its context.
4:35
Keep in mind u the the whole
4:38
socopolitical environment at the time.
4:40
The Jews were accustomed to the law of
4:42
Moses as the way to approach God.
4:45
Greeks sought truth through philosophy.
4:47
The Romans pursued the good life through
4:49
power and conquest. But Jesus rose to
4:52
both culture, philosophy, and religion
4:54
by claiming exclusive authority.
4:59
He alone grants access to God. His
5:02
statement is not arrogance, it's love.
5:05
For he came not to exclude but to
5:08
include all who believe in him. He made
5:11
that clear in his statement John 3:16.
5:16
when he said, "For God so loved the
5:17
world that he gave his only begotten son
5:19
that whosoever should believe in him
5:21
should not perish but have everlasting
5:23
life." And that whosoever makes it
5:25
completely inclusive. Every single
5:27
person on the face of the earth has
5:28
access to God the Father through the
5:30
work of what Jesus did on the cross. His
5:33
death, burial, resurrection opened the
5:36
door for us to get into the presence of
5:38
God. And it's the most special,
5:40
wonderful place you can ever be. But the
5:43
only way to get to that place is through
5:45
Jesus Christ because he is the way, the
5:48
truth, and the life. So in today's
5:50
world, we have people who say there are
5:52
many ways to God as I mentioned earlier.
5:55
And what's true for you may not be true
5:57
for me. So we live in this age of
6:00
relativism uh where the truth is
6:02
flexible and life is defined by personal
6:06
choice.
6:07
Against this backdrop, the words of
6:09
Jesus in John 14:6 cuts very sharp.
6:14
Remember the word of God is sharpened.
6:15
Any two-edged sword cuts
6:18
both directions.
6:20
And some it cuts, some ital. He did not
6:23
claim to show the way. Keep that in
6:26
mind. He did not claim to show the way,
6:30
but to be the way. He did not claim to
6:33
teach the truth, but to be the truth.
6:36
and he did not claim to give life but to
6:39
be the light. This verse reminds us that
6:43
Christianity is not built on principles
6:45
alone but on the person of Jesus Christ.
6:48
It's not about rules, philosophies or
6:51
rituals but about a relationship
6:54
with the son of God.
6:57
Today we're going to unpack each part of
7:00
this verse and see how Jesus meets our
7:02
deepest needs which are direction,
7:06
certainty, and life itself.
7:11
Let's talk about Jesus being the way.
7:14
When Jesus says, "I am the way," he's
7:16
saying that reconciliation with God
7:18
comes only through him. Humanity has
7:21
been separated from God because of sin.
7:25
Isaiah 59:2 reminds us, "But your
7:28
iniquities are separated between you and
7:30
your God." Religion tries to build
7:33
ladders to God's works, ritual,
7:36
self-effort, but they all fall short.
7:40
Proverbs 14:12 warns, "There is a way
7:42
which seemth right into a man, but the
7:44
end thereof are the ways of death."
7:47
Um
7:48
it states in the word of God that
7:52
uh
7:54
we are saved by grace and not by works
7:58
lest any man should bo uh boast. Jesus
8:02
came to remove that separation through
8:05
his cross. He became the bridge between
8:08
sinful man and holy God. Hebrews
8:12
10:19-20 declares that we have
8:14
confidence to enter the most holy place
8:17
by a new and living way opened for us
8:20
through the body of Christ. Unlike human
8:23
paths that ended po disappointment,
8:25
Christ's way is a sure path leads to
8:28
eternal fellowship with the father.
8:31
For through him we both have access by
8:35
one spirit unto the father. That's
8:37
Ephesians 3:18.
8:40
So, think of an airport.
8:43
You buy a ticket,
8:45
you pack your bag, you arrive at the
8:48
airport,
8:50
but without a boarding pass, you can't
8:52
get on that plane. You'll not enter the
8:55
plane. Jesus is the boarding pass to
8:58
heaven. He is the only way. With him, we
9:02
cannot reach the father, no matter how
9:04
prepared or determined we think we are.
9:07
Don't trust in your own goodness, your
9:09
religious practices, your tradition.
9:12
Because Jesus alone, trust in Jesus
9:16
alone. Walk daily in obedience, knowing
9:18
that he himself is your way to God. Only
9:21
through him that you have a way to God.
9:27
The second thing we want to talk about
9:29
is Jesus is the truth.
9:32
Truth in our culture is often seen as
9:34
relevant, shaped by feelings. cultural
9:37
opinion. Yet truth is not subjective. It
9:40
is absolute.
9:42
Jesus declares, "I am the truth." He
9:45
claims that reality itself is divine is
9:49
defined by him. He embodies God's
9:52
revelation, exposes falsehood, and
9:55
reveals the heart of the father. John
9:58
1:14 says that and the word was made
10:01
flesh,
10:03
full of grace and truth. Jesus is the
10:06
truth that frees us from deception and
10:08
bondage. John 8:32 assures us, "And ye
10:12
shall know the truth, and the truth
10:13
shall make you free."
10:16
His truth exposes sin, but also shows us
10:19
the way to salvation. Unlike human
10:22
knowledge, the change of time, Jesus's
10:24
truth is eternal, shaken. made a
10:28
statement last week that u
10:34
the word of God does two things. It
10:38
convicts and it converts. It convict it
10:42
brings conviction on us for our sin.
10:47
And then it allows us to be converted.
10:51
In other words, to be changed
10:53
to match God's work.
10:58
I give you an idea. This is this is
11:00
something. But first, I want to read
11:01
this one verse. It says, "Sanctify them
11:03
through thy truth. Thy word is truth."
11:05
That's John 17:17.
11:08
Now, stop. Think about this.
11:13
A compass always points to regardless of
11:16
where you're at. It always points to
11:20
and a compass. The word of the truth of
11:24
Christ is like this. Regardless of your
11:26
opinion or feeling,
11:28
that compass always points north. If you
11:30
follow, you'll you'll arrive to your
11:33
destination. If you ignore it, you'll
11:35
get lost. In the same way, Jesus is the
11:38
unchanging compass of truth that directs
11:40
us in a world fil.
11:44
Just because the world says it's okay
11:47
does not make it okay. Just because the
11:49
world says it's the truth, that does not
11:52
make it the truth. What truth is is
11:55
Jesus and what he said, God's word. So
11:59
build your life on the truth of Jesus.
12:02
Measure your decisions, your values, and
12:04
your own identity against him,
12:09
not culture, not feelings. Let his word
12:12
shape your convictions. For only his
12:15
truth brings lasting freedom.
12:19
No,
12:21
Jesus also said, "I am the life
12:26
and life is more than existence." Many
12:28
people are breathing but not truly
12:30
living. Jesus came to give us abundant
12:33
life. John 10:10, not just length days,
12:36
but fullness of being. John 10:10 says,
12:39
"I am come that you might have life and
12:41
might have it more abundantly." Without
12:44
Christ, you're spiritually dead.
12:46
Ephesians 2:1 reminds us, "And you have
12:50
been putting who were dead, trespasses,
12:52
and sins, but through him we are born
12:55
again into eternal life. His
12:57
resurrection guarantees that all who
13:00
believe in him will never truly die will
13:02
live forever in God's presence."
13:08
First John 5:12 says, "He that hath the
13:10
son hath life, but he that hath not the
13:12
son of God hath not." That's pretty
13:16
black and white statement. A lamp cannot
13:19
shine without being connected to
13:21
electricity. No matter how beautiful or
13:23
welldesigned it is, it remains dark
13:25
without power. Similarly, human beings
13:27
may appear successful, but without
13:29
connection to Jesus, they lack true
13:31
light. You ever seen somebody that ultra
13:34
wealthy, have everything that possibly
13:36
imagined in their life, but yet they
13:38
were the most miserable person you ever
13:40
met? It's because their life had no
13:42
meaning. their life was focused and
13:45
centered on amassing wealth, not about
13:48
eternal life. And they're miserable.
13:51
They live that way. They become so uh
13:54
enamored with their own success that
13:57
they're afraid to lose it. And Jesus
14:00
said, "He that would save his life shall
14:02
lose it. And that he that lose life for
14:05
my sake shall never die."
14:09
And that's why we have to know that
14:11
Jesus is the light. He is our life.
14:15
So
14:17
if you choose to live in Christ, not
14:19
merely exist, you allow spirit to fill
14:22
your daily walk with joy, purpose, and
14:25
eternal hope.
14:28
The fourth point is Jesus is the only
14:30
way to the father. This is huge.
14:34
Jesus concludes his statement with
14:36
exclusivity. You ever heard you went
14:41
through this whole thing about DEI
14:44
diversity, equity, and inclusion? Well,
14:46
you know what? That's not God's way.
14:50
God's exclusivity is this. If you want
14:54
to spend time with God, takes you coming
14:56
through Christ and Christ alone. It
15:00
says, "No man cometh unto the father but
15:02
by me." This challenges for those of
15:05
every age. Salvation isn't through
15:08
Buddha. It's not through Muhammad. It's
15:10
not through philosophy or good works. It
15:12
is through Christ alone. Acts 4:12
15:16
reinforces this truth. Listen to what
15:18
Peter said. He said, "Neither is there
15:20
salvation in any other, for there is
15:22
none other name under heaven given among
15:24
men whereby we must be saved."
15:29
Jesus does not shut the door on
15:31
humanity. He opens the only true door.
15:34
uh Revelations 3:20. It's one of those
15:36
uh soul-winning scriptures and it shows
15:40
the heart of God. And this is what Jesus
15:42
said. He said, "Behold, I stand at the
15:44
door and knock." He invites everyone,
15:47
but only through him can one enter. He
15:49
says, "Behold, I stand at the door and
15:51
knock. If any man shall open the door
15:54
and shall receive me, I shall come in
15:56
and I shall come to him and he with me."
15:59
That indicates fellowship. That's
16:01
breaking the bread. That's sitting down
16:03
and being family. It's a relationship.
16:05
It's what we have to do. It's how we
16:07
live.
16:11
And and understand this. There is one
16:14
God and one mediator between God and
16:16
man, the man Christ Jesus. That's first.
16:20
Imagine standing at a border crossing.
16:23
We've heard a lot about border crossing
16:25
things recently in the last nine months.
16:28
Imagine standing at a border crossing.
16:30
You cannot enter another country without
16:32
the correct passport.
16:35
Trying to sneak in will get you
16:36
rejected. In the same way, heaven
16:39
requires the passport of Jesus's blood.
16:43
Without him, it is impossible.
16:47
So stand boldly in the truth that
16:49
salvation is found only in Christ. Share
16:53
it with others lovingly knowing that
16:55
eternity depends on pointing them the
16:57
right way.
17:00
The disciples were troubled. They were
17:02
uncertain and they were afraid. Jesus
17:05
not didn't give them a map lost set of
17:08
instructions. He gave them himself.
17:12
Today his words echo in in our hearts. I
17:15
am the way to come and the light. He is
17:18
the way for the lost. He is the truth
17:20
for the confused. He's the life for the
17:22
empty. The one true path.
17:29
And he is the only way to the father. No
17:31
matter how far you've wandered, no
17:33
matter how broken your life feels, there
17:35
is a way back. And that way Jesus. The
17:38
question is not whether there are many
17:40
paths, but whether you will walk on one
17:42
true path. Will you trust him today? Not
17:45
as an option, but as your only hope. The
17:47
invitation is open. Believe in Christ.
17:51
Follow him. Experience the fullness of
17:53
eternal life. That's what he wants you
17:55
to do. That's what he promised you. So
18:03
let's uh I have five questions I want
18:07
you ask yourself this and focus on these
18:10
questions. The first one is in what
18:14
areas of your life you rely on your own
18:17
way instead of Jesus.
18:22
Who
18:24
guiding the ship? Who's driving the car?
18:27
We find the PL. Is it you or is it?
18:30
The second question is how does
18:32
recognizing Jesus as true
18:36
change how you view cultural truth?
18:42
What is your measuring of the truth? Is
18:44
it God's word, Jesus, or is it what
18:47
society tells?
18:54
The third question is, are you
18:56
experiencing an abundant life in Christ
19:00
or are you simply existing?
19:04
And that's a big question.
19:09
How can you share the exclusity of Jesus
19:12
with love and humility?
19:14
And the final question to ask yourself
19:16
this week is, what step do you need to
19:19
take this week to walk more closely in
19:22
his way?
19:24
So I give you some five pointers, five a
19:28
practical action plan if you would begin
19:32
each day this week by praying Lord lead
19:34
me in your way.
19:36
Read one chapter of John daily focusing
19:39
knowing Jesus as truth as truth.
19:43
Share your testimony with one person who
19:45
doesn't yet know Christ just one.
19:50
Spend time in prayer thanking Jesus for
19:52
the gift of eternal life
19:55
and memorize John 14:6 and meditate on
19:58
his me throughout the week.
20:04
John 14:6
20:06
requires us
20:09
to
20:12
understand what the way, truth, and life
20:16
means to us first.
20:19
We need to
20:23
Look at how culture attempts or
20:25
challenges the exclusivity of Jesus
20:29
and how we can respond that way.
20:35
Encourage people to identify one area
20:37
whether you need to be Jesus need to let
20:40
Jesus lead as the way, truth or life.
20:44
Jesus declared himself to be the way,
20:47
the truth and the life. the only path to
20:49
the father. He is not one option among
20:51
many but the exclusive savior. In him we
20:55
find direction, certainty and eternal
20:57
life. I want to I want to expand this or
21:02
open this up a little bit. When you go
21:05
through and you read this in John 14:6,
21:07
the word for true uh the word for way in
21:10
Greek is to h o d.
21:14
And what it means literally is a road
21:17
path or journey.
21:19
In the Old Testament, God's love is
21:21
often described as a way.
21:25
But here Jesus then declares himself as
21:29
the ultimate and living way. A parallel
21:32
found in Isaiah 35H which speaks of a
21:35
highway of holiness
21:37
that only the redeemed will walk on
21:41
fulfilled in Christ.
21:44
The word truth,
21:46
the Greek word truth that Jesus used was
21:50
altheia
21:52
and implies and what what it implies is
21:56
that reality has been unveiled.
22:00
Truth that corresponds with God's
22:02
nature. Unlike shifting for cultural
22:05
norms, Jesus embodies divine reality.
22:11
And the word life used in this passage
22:13
is the Greek word zoic.
22:16
And it doesn't just refer to biological
22:18
in uh existence which is bio but to
22:23
eternal God breathed life. Remember in
22:25
Genesis God told us this. He show
22:29
Genesis shows God breathing life into a
22:33
says God formed man out of dust of the
22:35
earth and he breathed into his nostrils
22:39
the man became a living soul.
22:42
And then in John 20:22 we see Jesus
22:46
breathing the spirit on his disciple. He
22:48
breathes on says receive ye the holy
22:51
spirit.
22:54
The Old Testament sacrificial system uh
22:58
offered temporary access to God.
23:02
But Jesus fulfilled it as the perfect
23:03
lamb who brings everlasting life.
23:07
Christ logically this verse points
23:09
directly to the exclusivity of salvation
23:12
in Jesus. Just as Israel had only one
23:15
high priest who entered the holy of
23:17
holies, so Jesus is the only mediator.
23:20
He is the way for the lost, truth for
23:22
the deceived, and life for the dead.
23:25
Fulfilling God's plan in himself.
23:31
So this week, I want you to keep that in
23:34
mind. I want you to think about
23:37
Jesus provided so much for us, summed it
23:40
up one state
23:42
to way, the truth, and life. and no one
23:47
comes under the father but
23:50
make Jesus your way true life. Allow
23:54
yourself to live in the abundance that
23:57
God has for you. Don't just exist.
24:00
Embrace the fullness of God and then
24:04
allow that to begin to work in you and
24:07
flow through you and take you forth so
24:09
that as you come to meet other people,
24:13
what they see is Christ's light shining.
24:18
So I want you to pray with me
24:21
and and then we're we'll see you next
24:24
week after. It says, "Lord Jesus, we
24:26
thank you for being our way, our truth
24:28
in our life. Forgive us for trying to
24:31
find our own paths for building on false
24:33
foundations.
24:35
Teach us to walk in your way daily, to
24:37
live in your truthfolding, and to
24:39
experience the abundant life you are.
24:41
Help us share this message message with
24:44
others so that we may come to Father
24:46
through you. keep our hearts steadfast,
24:49
our steps directed and lives surrendered
24:52
to your will in your precious name.
24:55
Amen. You know, I find it joy to be here
24:58
with you guys every week. Um I love the
25:01
fact that people all over the world
25:03
receiving the word of God through this
25:05
uh live streaming podcast. And uh I'd
25:08
like you to keep me in prayer because
25:09
I've been invited to go to Pakistan
25:12
and actually preach throughout the
25:14
country. And so now that's one of the
25:17
things I'm working on. And just as
25:20
assuredly as God's alive and well in
25:22
Pakistan, he's alive as well in the
25:24
United States. And people are coming
25:27
back to God mass. Continue to pray for
25:30
our leaders. Pray for our country. Pray
25:32
for our president. Pray for our enemies,
25:37
which is something Jesus commanded.
25:40
so that as we go through there, we're
25:42
not in a constant fight with them, but
25:45
rather we're the example to them of what
25:48
true God is.
25:51
I'll leave that with you. I'll see you
25:52
guys next week uh for another episode of
25:56
Insights for Daily Living. Um
26:00
Ashley's insights with Pastor John uh
26:03

26:08

26:10

26:19
Uh there's at least seven platforms on
26:22
there. Uh we want you and don't be
26:24
afraid to go back and watch previous
26:26
messages because there's a lot of
26:28

26:31
especially when you're having a rough
26:32

26:36

can flow through. We'll see you next
