Good morning. Welcome to Insights. Uh
0:04
this is our first our first broadcast
0:07
this year in so today is a new year 2026
0:13
and today we're going to be taking a
0:15
look at who touched me. You know this
0:19
this passage of scripture is uh in
0:23
Matthew chapter 9 and Luke chapter 8.
0:27
And um they both tell the same story,
0:31
but the the the
0:37
it's much more in detail in the book of
0:39
Luke. So, I'm going to read it out of
0:42
Matthew first and then we're going to
0:43
jump over into Luke and take a look at
0:45
it and try to expand it out to help you
0:47
understand a whole lot better of what
0:49
exactly is going on here. It's not just
0:52
about the women with the issue of blood
0:54
being healed or Gyrus's daughter being
0:57
raised. There's a lot more in here. So,
1:01
in Matthew chapter 9, we find out that
1:04
this is where Philip begins to follow I
1:07
mean Matthew begins to follow Jesus and
1:10
they u Pharisees ask him questions about
1:16
the correct way to fast.
1:18
And then while he's teaching them in the
1:22
middle of this
1:25
uh discourse on proper fasting and how
1:28
to do it, the ruler of the synagogue
1:31
comes in, his name is Gyrus, and says,
1:32
"While he spake these things unto them,
1:35
behold, there came a certain ruler and
1:37
worshiped him, saying, my daughter is
1:40
now even dead, but come and lay thy hand
1:43
upon her, and she shall live." And Jesus
1:46
arose and followed him, and so did his
1:48
disciples.
1:50
And behold, a woman which was diseased
1:53
with an issue of blood 12 years came
1:55
behind him and touched the hem of his
1:57
garment. For she said within herself, If
2:00
I may but touch his garment, I shall be
2:02
whole. But Jesus turned him about. And
2:05
when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be
2:08
of good comfort. Thy faith has made thee
2:11
whole. And the woman was made whole from
2:13
that hour. And when Jesus came into the
2:16
ruler's house and saw the minstrels and
2:19
the people making noise, in other words,
2:21
they were having awake and they were
2:23
wailing and moaning over the fact that
2:24
this uh young girl had died. G Jesus
2:28
said to him, "Give place, for the maid
2:30
is not dead, but sleepeth." And they
2:32
laughed him to scorn. But when the
2:34
people were put forth, he went in, he
2:37
took her by the hand, and the maid
2:39
arose, and the fame hereof went abroad
2:42
into all the land. Now that that is um a
2:47
very brief telling of what took place
2:51
there. And a couple of things we we need
2:54
to realize is when somebody comes in in
2:57
an attitude of praise and worship into
3:00
the presence of God, he responds
3:02
immediately because your faith activates
3:05
his action.
3:07
And then as he's going
3:10
to the ruler's house to to lay hands on
3:15
his daughter, a woman comes behind him
3:18
who has an issue of blood. And there's a
3:20
whole lot of uh Jewish law ramifications
3:23
here. First of all, she shouldn't have
3:25
been in public because she had an issue
3:26
of blood. She was unclean. And so by
3:30
law, she wasn't allowed to be in public.
3:32
Yet, she forced her way in and she
3:34
touches him of his garment. she's
3:36
healed. Jesus tells her she's healed and
3:40
then he goes and raises uh the the
3:42
ruler's daughter and it's a very brief
3:46
account of what actually took place. So
3:48
when and this is the reason I wanted to
3:51
touch there first because I want to read
3:53
from what was said in Luke and it's in
3:58
Luke chapter 8 starts in verse 40
4:00
because it gets into some very very
4:03
deeper details about exactly what
4:07
happened. It says, "And it came to pass
4:10
that when Jesus was returned, the people
4:14
gladly received him, for they were all
4:16
waiting for him. And behold, there came
4:19
a man named Gyrus, and he was a ruler of
4:22
the synagogue, and he fell down at
4:24
Jesus's feet, and he besought him that
4:28
he would come into his house, where he
4:30
had only one daughter, about 12 years of
4:33
age, and she lay a dying. But as he
4:36
went, the people thronged him. And a
4:39
woman having an issue of blood 12 years,
4:42
which had spent all her living upon
4:44
physicians, neither could be healed of
4:47
any, came behind him, and touched the
4:50
border of his garment. And immediately
4:52
her issue of blood staunched.
4:55
And Jesus said, "Who touched me?" When
4:58
all denied, Peter and they that were
5:01
with him said, "Master, the multitude
5:03
throng thee, and press thee, and sayest
5:06
thou, who touched me?"
5:09
And Jesus said, "Somebody hath touched
5:12
me, for I perceive that virtue is going
5:14
out of me." And when the woman saw that
5:18
she was not hid, she came trembling and
5:20
falling down before him. She declared
5:22
unto him before all the people, for what
5:25
cause she had touched him, and how she
5:28
was healed immediately.
5:31
And he said unto her, "Daughter, be of
5:32
good comfort. Thy faith has made thee
5:34
whole. Go in peace." And while he yet
5:37
spake, there cometh one from the root of
5:39
the synagogue's house, saying to him,
5:41
"Thy daughter is dead. Trouble not the
5:43
master."
5:45
But when Jesus heard it, he answered
5:47
him, saying, "Fear not. believe only and
5:50
she shall be made whole. And when he
5:52
came into the house, he suffered no man
5:55
to go in save Peter and James and John
5:58
and the father and the mother of the
6:00
maiden. And all wept and bewelled her,
6:02
but he said, "Weep not. She is not dead,
6:04
but sleepeth." And they laughed him to
6:07
scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he
6:10
put them all out, and took her by the
6:12
hand, and called, saying, Made, arise.
6:15
And her spirit came again, and she arose
6:17
straightway. And he commanded to give
6:19
her meat.
6:21
And her parents were astonished. But he
6:23
charged him
6:26
that they should
6:32
that they should tell no one what was
6:34
done. Now, in this passage of scripture,
6:38
when we read it in Luke, there's a whole
6:40
lot more went on here. First of all, he
6:42
gets more into the details of this woman
6:45
who touched him, who came into this
6:48
throng of people. And if you don't know
6:49
what a throng is, is this a a group of
6:53
people, everybody trying to touch Jesus.
6:56
They're just crowding in around him to
6:58
where they could just barely walk. And
7:01
in the middle of that, this woman who
7:04
had lost everything she had trying to
7:07
get well and nobody could heal her. The
7:11
physicians couldn't find out why she
7:13
couldn't stop bleeding. And she decided
7:17
in herself by faith that if she could
7:20
touch the hem of his garment, she could
7:23
be healed. She could be made whole. and
7:26
her faith when she believing in Jesus to
7:30
the point that when she touched the
7:32
border of his garment immediately the
7:35
blood flow stopped
7:37
and Jesus reacted and said who touched
7:40
me. Now I I want to I want to give you
7:44
some encouragement here. If you've been
7:47
struggling and dealing with something,
7:48
whether it's a physical uh ailment, if
7:52
you if you've been sick, um if you're
7:55
struggling financially, if you're if all
7:58
any of these things that are happening
8:00
in your life and you and you're trying
8:02
to get from the place you're at to the
8:04
place you believe God wants you to be,
8:08
what moves him is when you touch him by
8:12
faith.
8:13
Remember what he said?
8:15
He's he's in this throne of people. He's
8:19
surrounded by a crowd. Everybody's
8:22
touching him. Yet out of all these
8:25
people who touched him, including his
8:27
disciples, only one person had the faith
8:32
to touch his virtue.
8:36
And when she did, Jesus said, "Who
8:40
touched me?"
8:42
Because it didn't just physically touch.
8:44
She didn't just physically touch his
8:46
garment. She touched God. She reached
8:50
God by faith. And it flowed. That virtue
8:53
of healing flowed from Jesus straight
8:56
into this woman and immediately
8:59
dried up the blood, the issue of blood.
9:05
And and Peter's question, everybody in
9:07
the crowd denied it. Oh, I didn't touch
9:09
you. I didn't touch you. And Peter, he
9:12
he he looks at her and says, "Master,
9:14
the multitude throngly oppressed thee."
9:16
And you say, "Who touched me?"
9:19
And Jesus's response is God's classic
9:22
response always.
9:25
Somebody hath touched me for I perceive
9:29
that virtue is gone out of me. And when
9:32
he makes that statement, the woman comes
9:34
forward. And listen to her situation.
9:38
She comes forward
9:40
and she came trembling
9:44
and she fell down before him and she
9:47
declared unto him before all the people
9:50
for what cause she had touched him and
9:53
how she was healed immediately.
9:59
There was no lag time.
10:03
But she'd been fighting this for 12
10:05
years
10:06
trying to get this issue of blood
10:09
stopped. She was unclean. She couldn't
10:12
go into public. She couldn't attend
10:14
church. Uh she couldn't go to synagogue.
10:17
Does this sound familiar to you? Are you
10:20
starting to see a pattern here? There's
10:22
a lot of people that are dealing with
10:24
this in today's world. And the problem
10:27
that they're having is they haven't
10:29
touched Jesus yet.
10:32
They're talking a good talk. They're
10:34
fighting a good fight, but they haven't
10:37
actually touched Jesus yet. And you
10:41
can't get God to move unless you reach
10:44
him by faith.
10:47
And listen to Jesus's response. This is
10:51
God's response to you every time.
10:54
Daughter. In other words, he's claiming
10:57
her as his own daughter.
11:00
Be of good comfort.
11:03
Thy faith has made thee whole. Go in
11:06
peace.
11:08
Man, that's amazing. Not only is God
11:12
ever willing to heal,
11:15
all he requires is for you to reach out
11:17
by an act of faith. And he said, "If you
11:21
have faith that the as the size of a
11:24
grain of mustard seed, and if you've
11:25
never seen a mustard seed, that's not
11:28
very big. It'll fit on the top of the of
11:31
the head of a a straight pin. They're
11:35
small."
11:36
That amount of faith right there is what
11:38
it took for her to get healed.
11:42
And he and but listen to what Jesus
11:45
says. The first thing is is he claimed
11:48
her as his own. He called her daughter.
11:56
And then he said, "Be of good comfort.
12:00
Thy faith has made thee whole. Go in
12:02
peace."
12:04
If you have been struggling, if you have
12:07
been fighting, if you have felt like the
12:10
powers of the enemy were about to
12:12
overcome you, don't give up.
12:16
Reach out by faith to God right now
12:20
and touch the hem of his garment.
12:24
Because when you do that, the very thing
12:26
that you're seeking God for, he will
12:28
deliver.
12:30
You are his own.
12:35
And then after he heals her, get this.
12:37
Here's more here. Here's how God
12:39
overcomes doubt and how he overcomes
12:42
fear.
12:44
And while he yet spake to the to the
12:46
daughter,
12:50
Gyrus's servants come and tell him,
12:53
"Don't trouble the master anymore. Your
12:55
daughter's dead. It's pointless. Don't
12:56
have him come."
12:58
But when Jesus heard it, he heard it.
13:04
He answered him, saying, "Fear not.
13:06
Believe only, and she shall be made
13:08
whole." Now, they just told Gyrus that
13:10
she's dead.
13:12
They told just leave Jesus alone. He
13:15
doesn't need to come now. It's too late.
13:17
She's already gone. Jesus turns around
13:19
and says to him the very thing that God
13:21
says 365 times in the Bible. You can
13:24
find it every day of the year. Be not
13:26
afraid. Fear not. Be courageous.
13:30
He says, "Fear not. Believe only,
13:34
and she shall be made whole."
13:37
Man,
13:38
fear not.
13:41
believe only and she shall be made
13:43
whole. And he when he comes into the
13:46
house, he suffered nobody else to go in
13:49
except for Peter, James, and John and
13:51
the father and mother of the maiden. In
13:53
other words, he wanted to remove all the
13:54
doubters out of the room.
13:57
And they all wept and beweld her. But he
13:59
said, "Weep not. She is not dead, but
14:00
sleepeth." And they laughed him to
14:02
scorn. You ever come in and told
14:04
somebody what God said, and they laughed
14:06
you to scorn? They made they ridiculed
14:08
you. I've been there. I've had it done
14:10
to me.
14:12
And he put them all out.
14:16
In other words, he cleared the room. So
14:19
there's five people in the room plus
14:21
Jesus and the girl that and Jesus, it's
14:26
simple.
14:29
He took her by the hand and he called
14:31
saying, "Made arise." And her spirit
14:34
came again, and she arose straightway.
14:37
And he commanded to give her meat. And
14:40
her parents were astonished. They
14:42
couldn't believe what just happened.
14:47
And he said that they should tell no man
14:49
what was done. Are you walking in that
14:52
place? Are you struggling? Have you are
14:55
you a survivor? Have you have you
14:58
overcome something and then had like
15:01
there's a lot of people that have been
15:02
dealt the the big C diagnosis cancer.
15:06
Did you receive the diagnosis or did you
15:09
receive the word of God?
15:12
Are you a living testimony to God's
15:14
word?
15:16
Are you his own? Has he called you son?
15:19
Has he called you daughter? Has he
15:22
called you out from among them and made
15:24
you his own?
15:27
Because I want to tell you something. We
15:29
we serve a living God. He's not dead.
15:32
He's not in the grave. He's not The rest
15:35
of the world's religions
15:37
are all based on someone who's dead,
15:41
but not
15:43
the Christian faith. Because we have a
15:46
risen savior.
15:48
Jesus is sitting at the right hand of
15:50
God making intercession for us day and
15:52
night waiting on God to tell him, "Go
15:55
get your church."
15:58
And as long as Jesus is in heaven, we
16:01
still have hope
16:03
of all the things that could happen
16:05
here.
16:06
Have you shared that with somebody? Have
16:08
you told them about the goodness of God?
16:11
Have you told them that you're a son or
16:14
a daughter of the most high God? He
16:17
already made you his own when he
16:19
accepted you. When you when you gave
16:22
your heart to the Lord, you are his.
16:25
He calls you by name. He knows your
16:28
name. You know, I preached a message not
16:32
a long time ago, but a while back about
16:35
does the devil know your name? Does the
16:37
enemy know your name? And I I was
16:41
speaking out of uh the book of Acts on
16:44
the seven sons of SA who went in to cast
16:47
out a demon in the name of Jesus of whom
16:49
Paul preached. And they had no
16:52
no direct association with Christ
16:56
himself, but they were speaking in the
16:58
third person. And the demon answered and
17:01
said, "Jesus I know and Paul I know, but
17:05
who are you? Are you a son or daughter
17:08
of the most high God? Has God called you
17:12
and claimed you as his own?
17:16
Do you have the faith to reach out and
17:19
touch the hymn of his garment and
17:22
receive the healing that he promised
17:24
you?
17:25
That's healing in your of of your body,
17:28
healing of your mind, healing of your
17:32
relationships, healing in your financial
17:34
situations. Have you reached out and
17:37
touched the hem of his garment? Because
17:39
his power, he has power over all the
17:43
powers of the enemy. And you
17:47
and you alone determine whether or not
17:49
that power flows to you. Just like the
17:52
woman with the issue of blood, she came
17:55
up. She determined within herself. She
17:57
says, "I have no hope left in medicine.
18:01
I have no hope left in the doctors.
18:04
Nobody can heal me, but I've heard of
18:06
this man, Jesus, and I know if I could
18:09
just touch the hymn of his garment
18:12
that I can be made whole. And it's very,
18:15
it's that simple. Are you convinced? Are
18:18
you fully completely convinced that if
18:22
you touch Jesus, your situation will
18:24
change? If you are,
18:27
then what you're seeking is about to
18:29
happen.
18:32
It's not about how good you are. It's
18:34
about how great he is.
18:38
Because he is the author and finisher of
18:42
our faith.
18:44
I pray that this message has touched you
18:46
in a special way today. I hope that
18:49
you're encouraged
18:51
and your time of difficulty because I
18:54
know God put this message on my heart
18:56
because I had a completely different
18:57
message yesterday that I was going to
18:59
teach on today. David God spoke to me
19:00
and said, "Who touched me?"
19:04
And that's a very bold statement from
19:08
God. Who touched me?
19:10
Have you touched him?
19:12
Have you put aside everything, all your
19:15
doubts, your fears? Have you determined
19:18
in yourself, no matter what, I'm going
19:21
to touch Jesus. I am going to get what
19:25
he said I could have.
19:29
So, I want to leave that with you this
19:31
week. Don't give up.
19:35
Don't let the enemy take your blessing.
19:40
Don't let the enemy take your blessing
19:43
and touch the hymn of his garment. You
19:46
can do this. You have the power within
19:49
you to change the situation simply by
19:52
touching him.
19:56
Let's pray. Lord Jesus, I would like to
19:58
pray for everybody out there that is
20:00
going through things. Whether it's
20:01
physical healing they need, Lord,
20:04
whether it's a spiritual healing they
20:06
need, if it's a mental healing they
20:07
need, Lord, if it's a financial healing
20:10
they need, Lord, I know right now, Lord,
20:13
that in your name, all these things are
20:15
done. And we call them done in Jesus'
20:17
name. I take authority over all attacks
20:21
of the enemy against those that seek to
20:24
follow you, Lord. And ask you right now
20:27
to touch those that hear this message
20:29
and that you heal them from whatever it
20:32
is they're fighting, Lord. In Jesus'
20:34
name I pray. Amen. Thank you for being
20:36
with me this week. We'll talk to you
20:38
again next week. Have a blessed week and
20:41
touch the hymn of his garment. Don't be
20:43
afraid.
