There are a lot of great generative AI websites
0:04
but if you work with students, especially younger ones, you're probably not going to want them to create an account
0:10
using their email for privacy reasons. So in this video, I'm going to show you
0:15
how you can introduce your students to generative AI in a safe yet powerful manner
0:21
Now for this, you are going to need Canva. You can learn how you can get a free account
0:26
for everyone in your school district at canva.com slash education. Now, once your class has signed up with Canva
0:34
what we're going to do is select Canva Docs, and we are going to create a brand new doc
0:40
Now, Canva Docs is going to work a lot like any word processing program
0:44
So once they opened a blank document, your students can start their writing
0:52
So this student has written a narrative. It is called A Cowboy's Life
0:57
and this is where we can use AI to create our own illustrations
1:01
to really bring some life to this writing assignment. So to do that, what we'll want to do
1:06
is select Apps on the side. We're going to go to the bottom and select Text to Image
1:13
Now we are going to want to enter our prompt. In the first paragraph
1:18
it talks about a cowboy going bankrupt. So I'm going to enter my prompt
1:23
that says, sad-looking cowboy walking out of saloon after losing all this money in a card game
1:29
Now, there's a couple different options that I have for style, but I'm going to choose Photo
1:34
and let's see what I'll be able to generate. Okay, it gives me four different options
1:38
I like this photo right over here, so I'm just going to take that and select that
1:43
and there my photo is. There is my cowboy who has lost all of his money
1:50
Now, later on in this journal entry, the student talks about a cattle circle
1:56
So now what I'm going to do is select a cowboy on horseback
1:59
corralling cattle into a circle on a grassy plain in Wyoming. Again, I'm going to choose Photo
2:06
Let's go ahead and generate that image. Perfect, so I found one that I like
2:11
which is right over here. I'm just going to resize that, and now I have two different illustrations
2:17
that I was able to add to this writing assignment to really help describe
2:23
what this particular student was writing. This is a great way to introduce artificial intelligence
2:30
to your students in a safe way and start a conversation about generating prompts
2:35
to create their own stock images and artwork. So hopefully this video has been helpful for you
