Last month news broke that Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger were announcing a launch of their new venture called Artifact

Artifact is a news aggregator app. Now if you go to the website artifact.news you can join the waitlist by entering your phone number

I did this a few weeks ago and earlier today I received notification that I'm off the waitlist and I was able to sign up

So I hope to give you a preview of what you can expect from Artifact

So when you first sign into Artifact one of the things you'll notice is that it will ask you to select 10 or more topics

Artifact is going to use these topics to help personalize your news feed

Now you can change these at any time but you do have to come up with at least 10

So this is what Artifact looks like. It is a personalized news feed

You'll notice that the first column to the left is all of the articles that it was able to aggregate based on those interests

But if you want to along the top you can see the individual interest and you can search for each topic

So this one is stocks and you'll notice the articles which have been provided from Artifact

Now if you look at the top you'll see headlines. These are going to be multiple articles about the same topic

So if I tap on this headline it's going to open five different articles similar articles about this same topic

So all of those interests that you select can be found at the very top

Now there are some nice features of Artifact. One of the things is if you open an article that you think you might like you can bookmark that article

And once you bookmark that article you can save it or go back and read it later if you would like

You also have an option to share articles through a variety of different ways

In terms of navigation there is a back button. But one thing you do with Artifact is use your swipe left swipe right to navigate through the individual feeds located at the top of your screen

Of course if you're looking for a particular topic you can just do a search and try to locate it that way as well

And again I mentioned that this is aims to be a personalized news feed

The goal here is to read 25 articles in a two week period

And that will help Artifact select which articles that you are interested in

And the idea is to customize a news feed for you. So on that for you tab hopefully Artifact will be able to give you the articles that you'll want to read and that you'll be interested in
