So it's the start of the school year and you have millions of things to do that take up a lot of time
0:05
So I'm hoping that this video will show you how to create really beautiful looking name tags
0:10
in not a lot of time at all. So the first step that you want to do is to go to canva.com
0:16
slash education and sign up for an educator account with Canva. If you're not familiar with
0:23
Canva for Education you can check out the video above which will show you how to use Canva as a
0:30
teacher. Now once you've created your Canva account the first thing that you'll want to do is search
0:35
for name tags. You'll notice that Canva gives you lots of different options for name tags that you
0:41
can use with your students. I'm going to choose this option right over here to the left
0:47
Before we start you want to know the size of the name tag that you'll be designing. You can see the
0:56
dimensions of each name tag by clicking the button that says resize. So you'll notice that this name
1:02
tag is three and a half inches by two inches. Now if you have name tag holders like these ones that
1:08
you see on the screen here you'll see the dimensions for this name tag holder here. So if I want to
1:13
change this name tag to match those dimensions all I have to do is enter the new height and the new width
1:22
in that resize menu and click copy and resize. There we go here's my new image which will fit
1:27
directly inside the name tag holder. So as you'll see you can change anything on the screen. Again
1:35
if you check out the video above it will show you how to use the design in Canva. If you like you can
1:42
even add your school logo to the name tag. Again everything that you see on this name tag is
1:48
completely customizable. Once you finish one student just click on the duplicate button and change the name
2:04
There we go. Now once your whole class is finished the last step that you want to do is to download
2:09
the actual file of each name tag. You can do that by clicking the download button and choosing your
2:15
file type. For this one I'm just going to leave this as a png image. And here we go here are the
2:22
three individual name tags that I designed in Canva which are precisely the same dimensions to
2:28
fit in my name tag holder. I can highlight these three and print them to a printer. If I wanted to
2:34
I could probably lay them out on one page in order to save some paper when I print. But once you have
2:40
these printed out you can cut them add them in your name tag holder and then you're all set. So
2:46
again out of all the things you have to do at the beginning of the year that take time I'm hoping
2:51
that creating student name tags isn't one of those. And I believe that by using Canva it can help save
2:56
you a lot of time and a lot of frustration. So again check out my videos on Canva and how to use
3:02
them in the classroom. And if you have any questions or any comments leave them below and
3:07
I'm happy to answer them
