US, Los Angeles: Valencia Jumper Shuts Down Interstate 5 through Santa Clarita.

Los Angeles, United States - July 25, 2026 07/24/2026 05:42 pm GMT-0700 VALENCIA, SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A person was rescued after clinging to the outside of a bridge over Interstate 5 in Valencia for nearly 40 minutes this evening as temperatures remained in the triple digits. The incident began at approximately 5:42 p.m. on the Valencia Boulevard overpass when the person climbed around a protective barrier fence and remained suspended above the busy freeway, prompting a large emergency response. The California Highway Patrol shut down Interstate 5 in both directions while firefighters positioned an inflatable rescue cushion beneath the bridge in the event the person fell. After nearly 40 minutes, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Department deputy successfully talked the person to safety. The individual was then taken into custody by first responders and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Traffic was halted in both directions during the rescue and remains snarled through the area as of 6:45 p.m. Drone footage featured here has been reviewed and verified by Key News Network LLC.
