Los Angeles, United States - September 08, 2026 09/08/2026 12:15 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – One person was killed and two others were hospitalized following a four-vehicle crash on Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, authorities said. The collision was reported to 911 operators at 12:15 and occurred east of the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Cedar Street, east of Rainbow Glen Drive. On camera, Detective Charlie Upchurch of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Office said firefighters were treating injured people when deputies arrived. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to a hospital in critical condition. A third person was hospitalized and was awake and breathing, Upchurch said. That patient’s condition was not definitively confirmed during the interview. “At this point, we don’t know what caused the crash,” Upchurch said. Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role. Soledad Canyon Road, a major artery in Santa Clarita, will remain closed in both directions during the investigation. Upchurch said investigators expected to spend several hours documenting the scene, making notifications and awaiting the coroner’s arrival. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is investigating. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact the station and request Detective Charlie Upchurch or Detective Mark Cramer.
