Los Angeles, United States - May 03, 2026 05/03/2026 03:00 pm GMT-0700 BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – An hours-long standoff in Beverly Hills continues tonight after authorities revealed an armed suspect barricaded inside a vehicle may be holding a hostage following a pursuit and crash. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Information Bureau stated that the agency’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded to the 8800 block of Burton Way for a barricaded suspect wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a peace officer. Officials say the suspect is believed to be armed and is holding a hostage inside the vehicle. The individual is also wanted for additional charges within the City of Beverly Hills. The incident stems from an earlier confrontation involving deputies, during which the suspect allegedly struck a deputy with a vehicle and fled, triggering a region-wide search. The suspect was later located by the Beverly Hills Police Department, leading to a pursuit that ended in a crash near Burton Way and Robertson Boulevard. Following the collision, the suspect barricaded inside the truck, prompting a large tactical response. As of 9 p.m., law enforcement remains on scene attempting to negotiate a peaceful surrender. It remains unclear how many people are inside the vehicle. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact investigators. The situation remains active and evolving.
