US, Los Angeles: Santa Clarita Standoff with Assault with Deadly Weapon Suspects Ongoing.

Los Angeles, United States - May 09, 2026 05/09/2026 12:00 am GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A tense overnight standoff between Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and several teens accused of assault with a deadly weapon stretched into its fifth hour early this morning in Valencia. The incident began shortly before midnight in the 25700 block of Covala Court after a 911 caller reported that several teens had pulled a knife and claimed to be armed with a gun while in a residential neighborhood, according to sheriff’s officials. When deputies arrived, multiple suspects reportedly ran inside a nearby home, prompting a barricade situation. Authorities said that after several hours of negotiations, the suspects agreed to release a girl who had been inside the residence. During the standoff, one suspect attempted to flee the home on a bicycle but was quickly taken into custody after deputies deployed a Taser, officials said. At least one suspect remained barricaded inside the home as of 4 a.m. while deputies continued negotiations.
