Hello. I welcome you to this space today
0:04
with lots of compassion, kindness,
0:10
and love as we explore.
0:16
Ideas that will empower us to grow
0:21
individually
0:23
and become better version of ourselves.
0:30
I want to begin today with a question.
0:34
Not a question about your career, not a
0:38
question about your relationship
0:42
and not equally a question about your
0:45
achievements.
0:46
A much deeper question.
0:51
What is your relationship with yourself?
0:54
Like
0:58
by this I'm not asking
1:03
about what you tell others,
1:08
not what you post online,
1:11
not the version others see.
1:16
When you are alone with your thought,
1:18
how do you speak to yourself?
1:23
How do you treat yourself after a
1:25
mistake?
1:28
How do you respond
1:31
when you when you are struggling?
1:37
How do you support yourself when life
1:39
becomes difficult?
1:43
Because many people spend years looking
1:46
for love, approval, understanding and
1:49
validation from others while neglecting
1:52
the relationship that will that they
1:55
will have for their entire lives,
2:01
the relationship with themselves.
2:05
Yes, the relationship with yourself
2:08
is that relationship you will have for
2:11
your entire life.
2:14
And what if the the the the love you
2:17
keep searching for externally begins
2:20
with the way you learn to relate to
2:24
yourself internally.
2:27
Today we are exploring what
2:31
it truly means to love yourself first.
2:36
Not because we are arrogant but deeply,
2:44
honestly,
2:45
compassionately.
2:48
Now the the the biggest misunderstanding
2:52
about self love
2:55
is when we hear the phrase love yourself
3:02
we often imagine confidence.
3:06
Many of us imagine someone who always
3:09
feels good about himself or herself.
3:13
Someone who never struggles with doubt.
3:16
someone who is constantly positive. But
3:19
real self love is not really about
3:23
feeling amazing every day. Self love is
3:28
a relationship
3:30
you create with yourself.
3:33
Every healthy relationship contains
3:37
understanding,
3:38
patience,
3:40
compassion, honesty, forgiveness,
3:45
and most importantly, commitment.
3:50
Think about someone you truly love.
3:54
Do you only care about them when they
3:57
succeed?
3:59
Do you abandon them when they make
4:02
mistakes?
4:04
Do you insult them when they struggle?
4:07
Probably not.
4:10
Yet, many people treat themselves in
4:13
ways they will never treat someone they
4:16
care about. They criticize themselves
4:19
harshly, punish them themselves with
4:21
imperfections,
4:23
dismiss their their emotions and
4:26
opinion,
4:28
ignore their need and then wonder why
4:31
they feel disconnected from themselves.
4:34
Self love begins when you stop becoming
4:37
your own enemy.
4:42
And the question I want us to look at is
4:45
this. Why do many people struggle loving
4:49
themselves?
4:52
The truth is that most people were never
4:55
taught how to love themselves.
5:00
Many were taught how to perform.
5:06
And this I know for truth according to
5:09
clinical psychology they were taught how
5:12
to achieve, how to please, how to meet
5:15
expectation
5:17
but do not but not really how to value
5:23
themselves beyond what they accomplish,
5:27
what they can get. Some people learn I
5:32
am learned I am loving when I or some
5:36
people learn I am lovable when I
5:37
succeed. I am worthy when I make others
5:41
happy. I matter when I am useful. I
5:46
deserve acceptance when I meet
5:49
expectations.
5:50
Over time, love becomes conditional and
5:54
the person begins chasing worthiness
5:57
instead of recognizing it. This creates
6:02
exhaustion
6:04
because no achievement can permanently
6:07
feel the space where self acceptance is
6:10
missing. You can receive praise and
6:14
still feel empty.
6:16
You can succeed and still feel
6:18
inadequate.
6:20
You can be loved by others and still
6:23
struggle to love yourself because self
6:26
love is an inside relationship
6:32
and this relationship
6:34
is built by you.
6:38
No other external accomplishment can
6:41
fully replace it.
6:46
Now let's take this exercise to support
6:49
us. The mirror exercise.
6:52
Imagine standing in front of a mirror.
6:55
Not looking at your appearance.
6:57
Looking at your humanity,
7:00
looking at the person who has lived
7:03
through every experience you have ever
7:06
had. The person who survived difficult
7:09
days. The person who kept growing
7:12
through uncertainty. The person who
7:14
carried pain nobody fully understood.
7:17
The person who learned, adapted, failed,
7:21
rose and continued. Now ask yourself,
7:26
when was the last time I appreciated
7:29
that person,
7:32
when was the last time I acknowledged
7:36
their effort?
7:38
When was the last time I offered
7:41
compassion instead of criticism?
7:45
Many people spend their lives waiting
7:47
for someone else to recognize their
7:50
value.
7:52
But healing often begin when you become
7:56
willing to recognize it yourself.
8:01
And you know it is is not going to
8:03
happen because you are perfect but
8:07
because
8:08
your word was never depending on
8:13
perfection. Did you hear that? Your
8:16
value
8:18
was never
8:21
dependent
8:22
on perfection.
8:27
Now let's look at this what self love
8:30
actually look looks like
8:35
self love is not a feeling it is a
8:39
practice
8:41
let me take it over
8:44
self love is not how you feel
8:50
it is how you practice
8:54
sometimes Self love looks like a rest.
8:59
Sometime it looks like
9:02
boundaries. Sometime it looks like
9:06
asking for help. Sometime
9:10
it looks like saying no. Sometimes it
9:13
looks like forgiveness.
9:18
Sometime it looks like walking away from
9:22
what harms you.
9:25
Other time it looks like allowing
9:29
yourself to grow without constantly
9:32
punishing yourself for not being further
9:35
ahead.
9:37
Self love asks
9:40
what do I need right now?
9:43
Not from the stand of selfishness
9:48
but from a place of self-awareness
9:52
because people who ignore their own
9:54
needs eventually
9:56
become emotionally depleted.
10:00
You cannot continuously pour from an
10:03
empty cup.
10:05
You deserve the same care, patience and
10:08
compassion.
10:10
You often offer others
10:13
and know that by doing this you are not
10:17
selfish.
10:20
Now
10:22
what we have to do in order to come to
10:26
this place of practicing self love
10:30
consciously and consistently is
10:33
releasing self-rejection
10:36
because the opposite of self love is
10:39
selfrejection.
10:41
Now I want you to imagine sitting
10:45
down
10:46
that is setting down something heavy.
10:50
The burden of constantly feeling not
10:52
enough. The burden of self judgment. The
10:56
weight of comparing yourself to
10:58
impossible standards.
11:01
That is the burden of believing you must
11:05
earn your value.
11:08
Take a slow breath in.
11:11
And as you exhale,
11:13
imagine releasing that weight,
11:19
take it the second time.
11:24
As you exhale, imagine releasing the
11:28
weight.
11:30
Take it at a time.
11:36
Exhale the weight.
11:39
You do not have to become a different
11:41
person to deserve kindness.
11:44
You do not have to prove your humanity.
11:47
You do not have to achieve perfection
11:49
before offering yourself compassion.
11:53
Quietly repeat this or you repeat it
11:57
aloud whichever resonates with you. You
12:00
can place your right hand
12:03
on your heart area
12:06
and do this. I release the belief that I
12:09
am not enough.
12:13
I I release constant criticism.
12:18
I allow myself to be human.
12:24
I choose compassion over judgment.
12:29
Now taking a slow deep breath in,
12:35
let these words settle gently within
12:38
you.
12:39
Now let's take a new commitment
12:43
to yourself. Now imagine making a simple
12:47
commitment.
12:49
This is not a commitment to perfection.
12:53
It is not a commitment to never
12:55
struggle.
12:57
It is a commitment to stay connected to
12:59
yourself. To become someone who supports
13:02
yourself instead of abandoning yourself,
13:06
to become someone who listens to
13:08
yourself, encourages yourself, forgives
13:11
yourself, believes in your capacity to
13:14
grow. Because self love is not built in
13:17
a simp simple moment. It is
13:22
built in daily small choices,
13:27
small moments, moments of kindness,
13:31
small moments of awareness, small
13:34
moments of returning to yourself again
13:36
and again
13:38
builds self- loveve.
13:42
Nobody can give you self love and this
13:46
is the only thing you can give to
13:48
yourself.
13:52
Now as we close today, remember this.
13:56
The longest relationship you will ever
13:58
have is the relationship with yourself.
14:01
You will carry yourself throughout every
14:04
season, every success, every
14:07
disappointment, every beginning, every
14:09
ending. So make that relationship a
14:12
nurturing one, a compassionate one, a
14:15
support, a supportive one. You do not
14:18
need to wait for the world to fully
14:21
understand your value before recognizing
14:24
yourself. You do not need to wait for
14:26
someone else to love you before learning
14:28
how to love yourself because self love
14:30
is not
14:32
that that you don't you will not take it
14:35
to say I have come to the end. It is a
14:37
foundation and when that foundation
14:40
becomes stronger everything else in life
14:43
begins to rest upon something more
14:45
stable. So today, choose one simple act
14:48
of kindness towards yourself, one moment
14:51
of patience, one moment of compassion,
14:54
one moment of acceptance,
14:57
and let that be the beginning of a
15:00
deeper relationship with a person who
15:03
has been with you all along. Yes, you.
15:07

15:09
