Los Angeles, United States - October 11, 2026 10/11/2026 12:00 pm GMT-0700 Hancock Park – Four automated speed-enforcement systems, comprising eight cameras, have been installed at intersections in Los Angeles City Council District 5. This initiative is part of a citywide effort to reduce dangerous driving, according to a statement from Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, who represents District 5. The district includes communities in the Westside and Mid-City areas. The cameras are positioned at the intersections of La Brea Avenue and 1st Street, Fairfax Avenue and Clinton Street, Melrose Avenue and Hayworth Avenue, and La Cienega Boulevard and Pico Boulevard. As of now, the cameras are not operational, and motorists are not receiving warnings or citations from them. The first of these cameras was scheduled to begin operating on Oct. 26. Once the systems are activated, drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by 11 mph or more will receive warnings during an initial 60-day period. After this period, citations starting at $50 will be issued, Yaroslavsky stated. NOTE: Video captured at the La Brea / 1st location.
