US, Los Angeles: Norwalk Person Reportedly Shot Near Vigil.

Los Angeles, United States - August 19, 2026 08/18/2026 10:27 pm GMT-0700 NORWALK, Calif. – A shooting investigation was underway Tuesday evening after reports of gunfire near a vigil in the area of Rosecrans and Dumont avenues in Norwalk. Reports of shots fired began coming in around 6 p.m. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded and closed off the area as the investigation continued. Crime scene investigators remained at the scene hours later, photographing and documenting evidence. Roads surrounding the investigation remained closed. The city of Norwalk acknowledged the investigation in a social media post Tuesday night. “Public Safety Update: The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the Aug. 15 and Aug. 18 incidents in the Rosecrans Avenue area. Sheriff’s personnel will maintain a law enforcement presence as the investigations continue,” the city said. The condition of the person reportedly shot Tuesday night was unknown. It was also not immediately clear whether the incident was connected to the Aug. 15 fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old man near the same area. Authorities had not released additional information about possible suspects or the circumstances surrounding the reported gunfire.
