Organized by the Zaynab Project Orphans Foundation, the event brought together children who lost their fathers in Israeli attacks. Organizers said the marathon aimed to support orphaned children affected by the war and help ease some of the hardships they continue to face. Children participating in the event carried Palestinian flags while running in commemoration of the Nakba anniversary. Deputy head of the Palestine Sports for All Federation Ihab Abu al-Khair said the event aimed to provide psychological, social and sports support for orphaned children affected by the war. Abu al-Khair described the marathon as a message from Gaza to the world, saying Palestinian children continue to hold on to life despite destruction and suffering. Emel Hamed, the mother of injured child Ibrahim Hamed, said her son could not fully participate because of his health condition but was brought to the event in a wheelchair to be among the children. She said the event served as a source of morale for children and expressed hope that her son would one day walk and run again.
