Ladies, I am so beyond excited to see both of you and talk to you about this
0:04
Oh, good, we hope. Honestly, I watched the original again last night with my little girl as well
0:09
How old's your daughter? She's eight. She was a bit scared in some bits, but she..
0:13
Is this her first time? It's her first time. And I watched it again and I revisited it
0:16
I was like, this is so beautiful. I mean, revisiting it, what an incredible gift
0:21
Are you still both so happy that you got to go back and visit these characters? Yeah
0:24
Yes. And rebuild the house. Yeah. And create a larger garden than we had before
0:30
And to bring in a new generation, to be with Stockard and Diane and see their beautiful eyes and hear their voices
0:35
And it just, it's a rare thing that we got to do. Unbelievably rare
0:40
Yeah. And to have them there, then us, and then the new generation of witches
0:46
So it's exciting. Now we're just excited to bring it to everybody
0:51
I was sitting in a screening. And nervous. I was sitting in a screening and grown journalists were crying
0:58
Good. That doesn't happen often, I have to say. We're very jaded as a station
1:02
Well I think the reason the first one someone brought up earlier why it resonated or became such a snowball effect is because it very emotional and it very personal and it a journey and it not big effects
1:17
It's your personal journey and so many people, we all have one
1:22
And so to honor that in the second one was daunting, but Alice wrote an incredible book that was very dense and we got to pick a small piece of it
1:29
and just we had to honor what those who became fans and wanted the film we had to honor what they
1:36
they needed from the second one we had to you must have spent a lot of the last 28 years
1:41
answering questions about is there going to be a sequel no no never never i never did yeah we did
1:48
yeah no i was asked yeah i was never asked yeah but also we were i was still from the the shame
1:54
of the first one when by the time we were done with the junket they were you could tell that
1:59
they didn't understand it and I was like oh god I thought we had made something and then the
2:03
premiere I was like oh it was yeah because the tone of that movie and the comedy and the drama
2:10
and I mean it heavy at times and then also it was just an unusual film and it was all women starring in it So 28 years ago that was unusual
2:22
Yeah. I said, have you lived the life of a woman? Because that, in a 24-hour period, you have drama, joy, love
2:29
maybe a little romance. Like, it's just life. Oh, my gosh. And now people are willing to go, oh, we want to see all women on screen
2:38
We're excited. And obviously we have some great men in this as well, but primarily this is about sisterhood
2:44
This is about family. It's about creating your own magic. And hopefully you come out of it feeling good
2:52
Yeah. It's kind of nice to come out feeling good, maybe some tears, but ultimately feeling hopeful
2:58
Absolutely. When you imagined yourself in 1998, if you've been able to go back now and talk to those women
3:06
I'd be like, maybe don't do that. Be careful. Yeah, yeah. Don't do that
3:12
Do this, but don't do that. Over here. Look. Look, over here
3:17
But you know what I a person who would never change one thing No One thing Because I get to sit in this body and this is the way I feel now And I go if this is how I feel now then I would do it all over again
3:31
Yeah, absolutely. Right there with you. No repeats. What's your favorite reaction from people over the years
3:41
Obviously, if they've not asked you to do another one. They only asked Nicole
3:45
Just Nicole. Yeah, yeah. she just wasn't listening um I think the favorite reaction is oh my gosh it's one of my favorite
3:55
movies I love seeing it it makes me feel so good I watch it every year I watch it with my friends
4:01
we do viewing parties and hopefully this one will you know encourage people to go to the cinema
4:07
and take their friends and have fun and have an experience finally are you both more woo or less woo than when you made the first one oh far more woo
4:18
yeah i'm a bit of science a bit of woo yeah and a bit of woohoo
4:24
you can have it on the t-shirt
