La Sabana, Venezuela - June 27, 2026 Members of Virginia Task Force 1 (USA-01), working together with local firefighters, have rescued a mother and her nine-month-old baby from deep within a collapsed structure following the devastating June 24 earthquakes. The pair had been trapped inside the rubble when rescuers managed to reach them during the ongoing emergency response operations in northern Venezuela. Both were found alive and sustained only minor injuries during the collapse. After being brought out from the debris, they were taken to safety as nearby residents who had gathered at the scene cheered the rescue. Footage filmed by Virginia Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue shows the coordinated effort as teams carefully worked to extract the mother and child from the damaged structure. The operation highlights the role of Urban Search and Rescue teams in providing life-saving assistance and what rescuers described as the delivery of hope during the ongoing crisis.
