US, Phoenix: Phoenix Police Shoot Dog During Search For Outstanding Suspect.

Phoenix, United States - June 28, 2026 06/28/2026 02:50 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to the Phoenix Police Department at the scene, officers were conducting a perimeter search near 7th Avenue and Atlanta Avenue after a suspect fled from officers on foot. While searching for the suspect, a dog from a nearby residence charged at an officer. The officer fired his service weapon, striking the dog. The officer was evaluated by Phoenix Fire Department crews at the scene; however, it is unknown if he was hospitalized. The dog was rushed to an emergency veterinarian clinic by its owners. The dog's condition has yet to be confirmed. Officers established a scene around the property where the shooting occurred. The investigation is active, and additional details are expected to be released later today.
