US, Los Angeles: West Hollywood Sunset Boulevard Lanes Begin To Open Following Water Main Repairs Part 2.

Los Angeles, United States - July 25, 2026 07/25/2026 03:00 am GMT-0700 WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Sunset Boulevard has begun to reopen following a significant water main rupture that occurred July 16. As of this morning, one lane on each side of the boulevard remains closed, but it is expected to be fully operational by early Saturday morning. As of 3 a.m., cones began to be cleaned as crews poured concrete on Horn Avenue near Sunset Boulevard. More than 250 workers from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) worked throughout the night after the rupture was reported around 3 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard at Holloway Drive. An estimated 17 million gallons of water flowed from the pipe, flooding garages, displacing vehicles, and shifting asphalt and concrete. The flow of water was contained by 7 a.m. that same day; however, debris was washed downhill toward Santa Monica Boulevard. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power collaborated with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and Los Angeles County Public Works to safeguard underground infrastructure during the repairs. Some businesses in the area are still closed, and numerous residents have reported property damage as a result of the incident.
