Florida, United States - September 08, 2026 A 5-week-old kitten was rescued from the side of I-275 on September 8 after a good Samaritan called law enforcement for help. The rescue was captured on a Hillsborough County deputy’s body-worn camera as the tiny black kitten was found stranded beside the busy interstate. “My precious baby! Oh my goodness. It’s OK,” the deputy said as she approached the frightened kitten. The kitten suddenly dashed away, running alongside the road as multiple cars passed. The deputy chased after it, warning, “No, no, no, don’t run out in traffic.” A Florida Highway Patrol trooper later arrived and attempted to help capture the kitten, but it escaped again. The deputy eventually managed to grab the kitten as it ran toward her feet. The good Samaritan who had called law enforcement was nearby when the deputy lifted the kitten to safety. Overcome with emotion, she thanked the rescuers, saying, “Thank you so much, thank you so much.” The kitten, named Dash, now has a new home with the deputy who rescued him, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
