US: Tiny Weasel Drags Rabbit Nearly Twice Its Size Across Snow In Colorado.

Colorado, United States - March 18, 2022 A white long-tailed weasel is shown dragging a rabbit nearly twice its size across a snow-covered slope. The daylight video shows the small predator gripping the rabbit’s head and neck as it pulls and turns, dragging the larger animal across packed snow. The rabbit’s body slides behind the weasel, leaving a trough in the snow as the pair move farther across the white slope. The hunter was identified as a long-tailed weasel (Mustela frenata) in its winter coat. These weasels grow to about 12–14 inches long and have the courage, strength and tenacity to attack prey larger than themselves. The weasel can also use rodent burrows beneath the snow as a route while carrying its meal, causing its tracks to disappear into a hole. The video was posted on March 18, 2022, as the answer to a mystery involving rabbit predation and tracks in the snow. The clip was recorded at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
