VARIOUS OF FAMILIES WELCOMING SUDANESE RETURNING FROM EGYPT / RETURNING SUDANESE EMBRACING FAMILY MEMBERSKHARTOUM, SUDAN - AUG. 26: A group of Sudanese who had sought refuge in Egypt due to fighting between the Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) returned to the capital, Khartoum, on Wednesday, Aug. 26, under a voluntary return program and reunited with their families. According to Umut Voluntary Return Committee, 19 buses carrying the returnees reached Khartoum after traveling by road from Egypt for more than two days. Families gathered at a bus terminal in the capital to welcome their returning relatives, embracing them as they reunited after their time in Egypt. The committee said the return of Sudanese wishing to leave Egypt and go back to their country would continue in the coming days. Millions of people have been displaced since fighting between the Sudanese army and RSF began in April 2023, while many Sudanese have sought refuge in neighboring Egypt.
