The commemorative program took place at a shelter within Khan Yunis and was coordinated through a collaborative effort between the Reyahin School and the “Esda” Camp. The event featured various performances that highlighted Palestinian heritage and culture, including poetry recitals, traditional folk sayings, a reenactment of a Palestinian wedding, folk dances, and displays of historical artefacts. The gathering drew participation from both displaced Palestinians and the children residing at the shelter center. Every year on May 15, Palestinians around the world mark the Nakba—Arabic for "catastrophe"—commemorating the mass expulsion and displacement that accompanied the creation of Israel in 1948.
