People from different communities took part in the procession, carrying green and orange flags and wearing colorful traditional clothing. Participants accompanied Sufi groups performing religious hymns and odes to rhythms played on drums and tambourines. The annual procession is held during the first week of Rabi' al-Awwal, the month in the Islamic Hijri calendar associated with the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
