We have two new Apple Watches to talk about, the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4
0:05
Now, for all intents and purposes, these look like the same exact watches as last year
0:11
However, everything inside has changed from the processor to the health sensors
0:16
and this may be one of the biggest upgrades to the Apple Watch for a long time
0:21
You know what? I'm going to start with the good news. It may not be hardware-related, but it was definitely a happy surprise for me
0:26
Apple has not changed the price on the Apple Watches. Even though it changed a lot of the prices of some of the other products like the iPhone 18 Pro and raised a lot of them, the Apple watches remain the same
0:39
The Series 12 will be $399 and the Ultra 4 will be $799
0:44
Now let's get to the good stuff. One of the most important upgrades to this watch is the processor
0:49
Apple waited two years to upgrade the processor from the S10 chip to now the S11 chip
0:54
It has a faster GPU and CPU. you. And now this is going to help power a lot of the AI features that I'm going to talk about
1:01
including Siri AI, which I have been testing in beta, and now something called audio intelligence
1:06
Now, let's talk about audio intelligence because it kind of came out of left field for me. I wasn't
1:12
expecting this one. And that is a feature that's essentially going to allow your Apple Watch to
1:17
listen to you for all day Now bear with me because this sounds creepy I know Essentially if you miss part of a conversation you can go back in time and tell the Apple Watch to replay 15 seconds of that conversation So say for example you at a
1:32
restaurant, they're reading you the specials menu, and you forgot what the specials menu were
1:37
you can just click on the Apple Watch and it'll transcribe what the waiter just said. Now, you can
1:41
also do this on the spot for meetings. So if you're going into a meeting, you can enable this feature
1:46
and then it will take notes and then jot them all down in the notes app and give you all the
1:50
highlights of your meeting. Now, this feature is not coming yet. Apple has not even given a date
1:55
for it, but I'm very curious to try it. They were very intent on privacy. They said everything stays
1:59
on the cloud. It's not processed elsewhere. So none of this is accessible to Apple, but it still
2:04
raises a lot of interesting privacy questions. Now let's switch to health, which is the core of
2:09
the Apple Watch. Apple has completely redesigned the health sensors on the Apple Watch Series 12
2:14
and the Apple Watch Ultra 4. You can see here how different it looks from my original Series 11 that
2:20
I'm wearing to the new sensors on the back. Now, this is important because it allows for the Apple
2:26
Watch to take more frequent readings of your heart rate and your heart rate variability, two very
2:30
important metrics that feed into a lot of the other metrics in your Apple Watch. It will now be able to
2:36
sample your heart rate every five seconds. This was only possible during workouts before, but now
2:40
it's doing this throughout the day. This means more accuracy across the board
2:45
In fact, Apple went on to say that this is the most accurate
2:49
wearable in the market which of course we will test Now with more robust health data it will now enable something called a readiness app Now if you familiar with other devices like Whoop Aura or even the Fitbit Air you will be familiar with this score It basically tells you
3:03
how recovered your body is to take on the day. So it'll score you from not great to let's go
3:10
And then it'll kind of change throughout the day depending on your metrics. It will take into
3:15
account your workouts your vitals app and your sleep to come up with that score another cool
3:21
thing that i particularly like because sometimes i forget to sleep with my apple watch or i just
3:25
don't make it through the day to be able to sleep with my apple watch is that it will now be able
3:29
to track your vitals throughout the day not just throughout the night now the other health feature
3:34
that will be coming not just to the apple watch series 12 and ultra 4 but to other watches as well
3:39
is that apple has revamped the health app so now it's gonna look more like if you're familiar with
3:44
the Fitbit app, it's going to look more like that in which it gives you a daily summary that
3:48
incorporates a lot of these metrics and it gives you a glimpse of how you're tracking your vitals
3:52
your readiness, and put it all in one spot at the beginning of your health app experience
3:57
And it's also going to give you little AI insights that it's going to tell you how your day's going
4:01
and also give you a couple of suggestions, kind of like an AI health coach. Now, the cool thing about
4:07
Apple is that there's no subscription required. A lot of these health features that I've mentioned
4:13
require a subscription on other devices, and Apple is giving it to you absolutely free
4:17
at least as far as I know The caveat here is that a lot of these features are not ready on launch date Apple didn even give us a date in which we can test the AI features
4:27
and the health features. It just said it's launching later this year
4:31
so we will have to see them in action to truly tell if they're useful or not
4:35
Now, the tangible things that I can talk about are the new ceramic models of the Apple Watch
4:40
We hadn't seen a ceramic Apple Watch since 2019, so this is kind of a big deal
4:44
You have a white one and a dark navy one, as well as different finishes for the aluminum version
4:49
You also have a bronze version that's new to the lineup this year
4:54
Now, in terms of battery life, Apple didn't say much about the Series 12
4:58
It's going to have that same 24-hour battery. Last year, Series 11 lasted me about 28 hours, so maybe you can squeeze a couple more in
5:06
Where it is going to count is the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is going to get a bigger battery bump
5:10
Apple says it's going to last you a full two days now, and you can actually extend it now with a new exercise mode
5:17
So say, for example, you're running an ultra marathon, you are going to be able to get through races
5:21
on this extended battery mode that allows you to work out as well
5:26
I am just scratching the surface on Apple Watch features here. I was sitting in the keynote
5:31
kind of feeling a little overwhelmed because there was so much to take in this year and I'm truly excited to put all of them to the test
5:37
and tell you how that goes and to see if the Apple Watch Series 12
5:41
and the Ultra 4 are truly worth the upgrade. Obviously, we're going to have to wait a while
5:45
because a lot of these features aren't available, but I will keep you posted. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time
