After years of rumors, Apple has finally released a foldable iPhone and I got to try it out. So let's
0:04
talk about it. This is the iPhone Duo. It is a passport-sized foldable iPhone. It fits perfectly
0:10
in the palm of my hand. It has a 5.4-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inside display. Now let's
0:16
dive into those displays for a moment. The cover is ceramic shield too, but if you open it up
0:21
it has this really interesting matte texture on that inner display. Now what that does is it reduces
0:27
the glare, but it also reduces the crease. When I'm looking at it, I can hardly see that crease
0:31
It's even less noticeable than the one on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is one of my favorite
0:35
phones that I've reviewed so far this year. Now, one of the compromises of this smaller iPhone is
0:41
that there is no telephoto camera. I was already mentally prepared for this because the Z Fold 8
0:45
also doesn't have a telephoto camera. So here on the iPhone Duo, you have a 48 megapixel wide angle
0:50
and 48 megapixel ultra wide. I look forward to taking this out into the world and seeing how the
0:54
camera performs or if I feel any of those drawbacks. Now, Apple says this is its thinnest iPhone when
1:00
it's open. It is 5.2 millimeters thick when open and 11.3 millimeters thick when closed. It doesn't
1:06
feel super bulky. It doesn't feel super heavy. I think it's one of those things that you can easily toss into your pocket and not feel like it's dragging you down in any way. You open it up and
1:13
it feels like a miniature iPad, which is pretty neat. Now, one of the key differences between the iPhone Duo and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is that the iPhone is compatible with the Apple Pencil
1:22
whereas the Z Fold 8 is not compatible with the S Pen So if you really big on your styluses I have good news for you One more caveat here is that the iPhone Duo is not Face ID compatible You going to have to rely on Touch ID So that is one potential drawback The iPhone Duo comes in two colors
1:38
a white and a navy blue shade. This has a titanium frame to keep it more lightweight
1:44
Now for battery life, the iPhone Duo has 31 hours of video playback if you use the inner display
1:49
but if you use the outside smaller display, you can get up to 44 hours of video playback
1:53
but I have a feeling that I'm someone who might use both the inside and outer displays because of
1:58
how I use the Galaxy Z Fold 8. So if you switch between the two displays, it'll last about 24
2:03
hours of video playback. Just like the iPhone 18 Pro models, the iPhone Duo is powered by an A20
2:09
Pro chip. Now there are a couple of cool camera features to take advantage of those dual displays
2:13
There's one feature where if you're taking a picture of a kid and they're not looking at the camera, you can essentially have an animation going on that cover screen so they are looking
2:20
in the right place, which is pretty neat. Another camera feature will essentially let you preview
2:23
an image that somebody is taking. So if you hand your phone to somebody who's not the best
2:27
photographer, you'll be able to see what they're doing and essentially guide them. Now the big question, how much does the iPhone Duo cost? It'll cost $1,999 for 256 gigabytes of
2:38
storage. The good news is you have time to save up because pre-orders start on October 16th and
2:43
the phone goes on sale on October 23rd. So now I want to know what you think. Are you really
2:47
excited about this iPhone? Are you planning to buy it yourself? Or is there another foldable
2:51
that you prefer? Or maybe you don't even want a foldable at all? Let me know in the comments
2:55
and be sure to hit like and subscribe while you're at it. Thanks for watching
