The surprises we expect and want from Apple’s surprise and shine event

A foldable phone, two new watches, a smart speaker, a smart display, and more

The Apple iPhone event is coming up soon. Here's what to expect and what I want from the big presentation

My goals are to inform you about the big Apple event that's coming up

talk through rumors and expectations of the devices they're in, and also I want to set the Guinness World Record for number of Apple puns in a video per minute

So let's put the counter on the screen. How about them apples

Okay, let's go. Here's what to expect. Bear in mind, none of this is confirmed

These are just rumors based on selected reports and leaks and yst expectations

First, phones, of course. But wait, this one might fall outside of the usual expectations

We are going to get the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, of course

They'll have upgraded cameras, maybe upgraded chips, maybe more battery life. Yes, yes

The twist is that we might not see the regular base iPhone 18

Apple might be saving that for early next year and a different event

Now, they might make up for it, foldable phone anyone, but I'll talk about that more in a bit

No base model here would be a really big departure for the company

You know, like an Apple event that's really fallen far from the tree. Next, watches of course. But we might get two of them. Now, why would that be a surprise

Well, because last year we got three. There was the base model, an update to the affordable SE line

and an update to the super durable premium ultra line Normally those extra models only get a refresh every couple of years at most but there are lots of rumors that we getting both a base

series 12 this year and a new premium ultra four and I would find an extra souped up premium model

pretty apple appealing. Peeling, you know what I'm saying? It's a great pun, it counts

Finally, John Ternus. This one we actually do know for sure. This will be the first Apple

event in a long time not being led by Tim Cook after the turnover at the top of the company

You know, the Apple turnover. Anyway, John Ternus is taking the reins of the Apple cart here

and will be the one at the helm of this year's big hardware launch events. I mean, there are lots of

questions about that. Will his style be the same, or will it be formatted differently? Is he going

to want to make a splash or keep things steady? It'll certainly be tempting to rank the presenting

styles of the two CEOs afterwards, but if it really feels different, the comparison just might

not be apples to apples, you know? There's your baseline for expectations, but Apple is rumored

to be launching a whole lot of hardware at this event. Look for surprises, look for stuff outside

the norm. With that in mind, here's what I want from this Apple event. Launch the phoneable phone

dammit! There have been rumors about this one since Adam and Eve discussed the first Apple event

way back in the book of Genesis, but this year it might actually happen

Now that's evolution, baby. The scuttlebutt is that it's gonna be called the iPhone Ultra

And otherwise thin and compact and phone-shaped when folded, more like an iPad when open you know the drill And this is Apple so it probably gonna be expensive For reference Samsung latest foldable the Z Fold 8 starts at as does Google newest the Pixel 11 Pro Fold

So the first number is going to be a 2, probably. But hopefully in that same range, and rumor has it you won't be able to see the crease at all

So if it's a foldable phone with Apple's usual sense of polish and style

that, I think that would be pretty sweet, but not too sweet like a Fuji. And given all of the rumors

of this one, I'm going to put the odds of it happening at a very scientifically calculated

87.8%. Second on my list, give some love to the smart home, please. The smart home is my first

tech love and I've covered it for so long and not to go Apple picking. Sorry, I think the term is

nitpicking, but it has been a while since Apple has released a big new smart home product like

a smart speaker, and that could change here. We could get a new HomePod smart speaker. We could

get a smart display to compete with the Amazon Echo shows of the world. Both would make sense

Apple is finally rolling out Siri AI to play the part of its long promised, more conversational

AI-powered assistant. Siri AI could get a new spot to live in your home, a central control area

with cool sound and hopefully cool visuals. If it has a display, that would be really neat

And if this doesn't happen, I'm going to be a real crab apple. Probability 48.65%

And last thing on my list a Siri AI fitness coach Smartwatches they my other tech love Second sure but no less meaningful and just as tender you know And I want another good AI fitness coach to compete with and push

Google's excellent health coach as far as adaptable, flexible, and personalized fitness

planning. In theory, Apple has the tech for this. They partnered with Google in developing parts of

Siri AI. So some of the same Gemini code that makes Google's health coach possible could be in

Apple's own generative assistant. Apple has workout buddy and a sleep score. The watches have lots of

health features actually, but an overarching tool that could help you plan a routine and offer

feedback and insight would be so dang handy. Now all the rest of my wishes are based on actual

rumors. This one is pure conjecture on my part. Call it wishful thinking. Odds are low. Let's say

3.14%. But if it does happen, it would be as delightful as apple pie. And okay. Did that do it

Oh, Snapple! The world record! It's done! Woo-hoo-hoo! And while I bask in this glory

allow me to accept this very real and not digitally inserted trophy. Look at how
