I am excited about all of the new software tricks and features in the Apple Watch Series 12 and the
0:08
Apple Watch Ultra 4. My favorite new feature is called audio intelligence. So this supposedly does
0:17
for audio what visual intelligence does for cameras on your phone, where it can like look at a menu
0:24
and translate it for you, or look at something on your phone and help you search out an object
0:30
for shopping. This can actually use the microphone on your watch to listen to conversations for you
0:38
Now, that sounds a little bit like a violation in privacy, but Apple's saying all the right things
0:45
here, that the audio is not actually stored or shared anywhere. It is just buffered temporarily
0:52
so that you can do these new tricks. And here are the tricks
0:57
The basic ones, it's an upgrade to Shazam so it can pop up the song you're listening to
1:02
It has accessibility features like it can identify the sound of a siren
1:09
or a baby crying or a cat meowing and help you identify what that is
1:13
But the really cool thing, okay, so there was this demo. There's this couple at a table in a restaurant
1:19
and the waitress comes up and she just rattles off all these specials really quick Too fast for either of them to understand too fast for me to understand And so the guy double taps the crown on his watch and it pulls back the last 15 seconds
1:35
of audio and makes it readable on his watch so he can peruse the specials at his leisure
1:42
That is so cool. As somebody, I struggle with audible learning sometimes. I have to ask what
1:48
all the time because people talk fast to me and I don't process all of it. And this could be such
1:55
a game changer for me. And I'd be really excited to try that out and see if it works as intended
2:02
And the other big thing for audio intelligence are recaps on your day. So it'll listen as you
2:09
go to meetings or have conversations, and then it will summarize what was said in the meeting
2:16
It's not going to attribute any of the audio to any individual
2:19
And again, it's not actually recording any audio. It's just buffered long enough to send to the phone
2:26
And then the phone's going to use Apple intelligence to translate, summarize, and give you bullet points for all of it
2:32
You can also decide when that feature is on. All of it is going to be opt-in and you can set schedules or even do location-based
2:40
So it's not on when you're at home, but it is on whenever you're at work
2:45
And that sounds like a really cool thing for a passive aid of remembering what went on throughout your day You get home you don know what somebody said in a meeting and now you can look up those details
2:59
So that's just audio intelligence. One of the other big new things coming to these watches
3:06
is enhanced fitness tracking. They totally redesigned the sensors to increase the accuracy
3:13
which is leading to more details in all of those apps. So not only you're going to be able to track nightly vitals like before, but now heart rate variability, which is a big measure of your fitness, is going to be in those vitals
3:28
And it's taking that measurement more frequently. So you'll be able to see daytime vitals as well
3:35
Combine all of this with new features from Apple Intelligence, and it can summarize everything else it knows into a readiness score
3:43
Letting you know when you should push, when you should relax. And Apple's going to summarize that readiness score for you based on your goals and give you tailored advice based on your overall health, based on your long-term fitness
3:59
And that sounds really cool. It might also sound familiar. Readiness is a metric that's already available on wearables from Google and Samsung and a bunch of others
4:10
But what neat here are those AI interpretations that offer additional insights and don seem to be behind a payroll This seems like a lighter version of what Google does with their Google Health Coach which offers detailed and highly customizable advice
4:28
It tailors a fitness schedule for you. It's really cool, but it comes with a monthly fee
4:34
This all seems like it's just gonna be right there in the health app for you
4:39
making all that data richer and more contextual. and I am excited to see it in action
4:47
The new redesigned health app will also have a tab dedicated to your long-term health
4:52
You'll see this little pie chart measuring your sleep and your fitness
4:56
and your activity over time. And then it'll use all that to show you your health age
5:03
and how that relates to your actual age. And then again, it'll give advice
5:08
about how you can improve any of those metrics and feel better over time, which all sounds really cool
5:16
So the Apple Watch Series 12, the Apple Watch Ultra 4, both seem like really good smartwatches
5:23
They may look similar to the ones from last generation, but there's all kinds of new software features in here
5:31
including audio intelligence, which I'm really excited about, and it's all going to be at the same price
5:37
So I can't wait to get my hands on these two watches and put them to the test to see if they live up to their potential
5:44
Stay tuned for that and much more details as we get to test these products
