When you get stories, for example, a transgender person who's a rapist
0:03
I think it's a real shame that we try and set the boundaries and expectations
0:07
of every other transgender person on the most obscene among them. We don't do that for ourselves, for other groups in society
0:13
And so I think that's a great point of frustration for the average person that happens to be transgender, that they're tarred with the brush of a rapist among them
0:20
The other thing I'd say is that I think one of the problems is the idea of self-ID
0:24
which Theresa May put forward, was this the way that you didn't have to have
0:29
what basically is a two-year process to be legally recognised. And then you get the really complicated things
0:34
where people who really don't look like the gender they identify as can go into those spaces
0:39
Whereas, you know, the gender recognition certificate, the thing that lets you legally change your sex
0:43
has been law for 21 years. So there are people that have had a full medical transition
0:48
You know, in many cases, they would look like the gender they identify as if, you know, if you didn't know that background
0:53
Very few men who identify as women have full medical transition. That is an even tinier percentage of the people that are identifying as women
1:02
Well, part of the reason is it's a very long waiting list to get the operation. People wait years and years to get the chance for that
1:07
But I do think if you're only defining things on biology, well, then you have a problem because there are only trans women, there are trans men
1:14
And those are people that could have, if they've had a transition, they will now have a penis
1:19
They will have had testosterone. They might have muscles and they might have a beard
1:23
And they now have to go in your loo. I mean I don think that what anyone wants And I tell you what they look a lot more like an average bloke than the trans women do So what stops not that Mike would do it obviously but what stops Mike just saying he was a trans man if he wanted that situation
1:38
But once again, the Supreme Court ruling was absolutely clear. But once again, people coming from your side of the argument, I'm not criticising you for that
1:47
Instead of accepting the ruling, first of all, throw up all the problems this is going to cause now
1:52
This ruling is going to cause dozens of problems. you know, the future now is going to be so uncertain
1:58
you couldn't just accept that the ruling now... And let's face it, it's a tiny percentage of people in this country
2:04
who are transgender, and yet we have spent, you know, oodles of time, millions of hours, millions of days of debate
2:13
on a situation which, fortunately, was finally sorted by the Supreme Court and, in my view
2:18
should have been done 30 years ago. But it wasn't sorted. I mean, first of all... It was sorted, you see, once again, you can't accept it
2:23
But it wasn't sorted, because I've just given you an example. If you only go on biology, then a transgender man is a biological woman
2:31
They have a beard, they have a penis, and you now say they have to go in the women's toilets
2:35
No, we don't. Nobody says that. But that's what... If you say it's done on biology... No
2:39
..they are women. So where do they go? And one solution, which has been put up, and nobody's seriously debated it
2:46
is having a third... Hang on, answer the question. No, I am answering it. A third designation of a toilet
2:51
You can have a man's toilet, you can have a woman's toilet, You can have transgender or you can have toilets like we've got here at GB News, which are completely insular in that all the facilities are in one room and people don't have to mix
