This D Day Ship Never Reached Normandy

SS Sambut was carrying troops, vehicles, ammunition, explosives and petrol towards Normandy on D Day when German guns opened fire as she passed Dover. The ship was soon engulfed in flames and 136 men lost their lives. With Sambut burning in the path of the invasion fleet, the Royal Navy eventually torpedoed her.
