The SS Nantes was built in Glasgow in 1874 and operated by the Cunard Steamship company. Following a collision with a German sailng ship, she sank in 1888 with only 3 survivors from the 28 people onboard. The Nantes was missing for nearly 140 years until we revisited a wreck lying at 74 metres in the English Channel. A comination of factors including size, location and early Cunard crockery allowed us to identify the previously unknown wreck as the SS Nantes. Another underwater mystery solved! *Highlights* 00:00 Introduction 02:18 Descent 04:50 Sorting the lazy Shot 07:02 SS Nantes comes into view 14:00 How did we identify the wreck? 17:55 Massive angler fish! 19:39 Back at the bridge 25:30 Foo-foo valve and two cylinder steam engine 31:45 Four bladed iron prop 34:00 Stern anchor and beautiful porthole 36:30 Cunard line crockery! 39:30 Decompression profile 42:05 Reaching the surface
