There's always going to be someone who
0:01
disagrees with either the way that
0:03
you're doing life, the way that you're
0:05
parenting, the way that you are living,
0:08
the goals or career that you're
0:10
pursuing. It could be a close friend, it
0:12
could be a sibling, your mother, your
0:16
partner, your mother-in-law,
0:18
a family member, it could even be your
0:21
boss, right? There's always going to be
0:23
someone in your life that just doesn't
0:28
get it.
0:30
With that being said, I'm here today to
0:32
encourage you to just live the life that
0:34
you want to live and to choose today to
0:41
stop living for man and let go of
0:46
scrutiny and opinions from others. I
0:50
feel that sometimes the things that I
0:53
endure in life or the things that I
0:55
experience in life, I try to use them as
0:59
a way to be encouraging to others. And
1:03
one thing that was on my heart today
1:05
during my Bible study is that um
1:08
scripture that tells us to live not for
1:11
man but to live for God. I'm not always
1:15
perfectly great at quoting my scriptures
1:18
word for word. So, always I'll leave
1:20
them at the bottom of the video for you
1:24
guys. But nevertheless, I try to just
1:27
stay deeply rooted in his word so that
1:29
when I'm experiencing certain things in
1:32
life, I can kind of generally know what
1:35
the Bible says about that. And one thing
1:38
that it strongly is against is living
1:41
our lives for others, for man, right?
1:45
because instead he's a jealous God and
1:47
he wants us to live our lives for him.
1:50
There are so many instances in the Bible
1:53
where
1:55
God is trying to protect us where
1:57
sometimes we might not always notice it
1:59
and sometimes we may even not realize
2:04
that it actually applies to our current
2:07
season of life and sometimes it won't. I
2:09
read something that said God loves us so
2:11
much and too much to answer our prayers
2:14
at any time other than the right time.
2:18
So there may be things in the Bible that
2:19
we just don't notice until it's our time
2:21
to notice it. We can often overlook
2:24
something that might just seem trivial
2:26
or small and we don't give it the depth
2:29
that it really needs. In life itself,
2:33
there are just way too many chances and
2:36
options for people to try and persuade
2:39
us and influence us. It's literally
2:42
everywhere. We wake up in the morning,
2:43
we get on our phone, unknowingly, we're
2:45
on Facebook, and now we have a ton of
2:47
ads on our screen because they're
2:49
everywhere. They are in Instagram,
2:51
they're in Facebook, they're on YouTube,
2:54
they are Tik Tok. Everywhere you go, you
2:57
go to the store, you drive down the
2:59
highway, there are ads everywhere. And
3:02
all the time, everyone is competing for
3:05
our attention. And what that does is not
3:08
only does it distract us from, you know,
3:11
the things that are more important in
3:13
life. In ways it can be a little bit
3:16
detrimental to to ourselves
3:20
in the fact or in the sense that it's so
3:23
easy to get caught up in what everyone
3:26
else is doing, what everyone else wants
3:28
you to do that you can kind of just
3:30
forget to be yourself and live the life
3:33
that you want to live for yourself.
3:35
There's always a new trend that's going
3:38
on of everything we do in terms of how
3:40
we dress, in terms of how we do our
3:42
hair, how we do our makeup, and even
3:44
when it comes to like minimalism and
3:47
slow living, even that can have like
3:49
certain aesthetic trends, right? And
3:52
while it's really beautiful to pursue
3:56
all of these things, you don't have to
3:58
actually pin yourself to these things.
4:02
You can live a slow life without taking
4:05
walks on a sandy beach. And you can be a
4:07
minimal mom or homemaker without having
4:10
bare white walls. And the reason that
4:12
I'm bringing up those specific examples
4:14
is because these are the type of things
4:15
that I talk about on my channel. I just
4:18
want to be as encouraging and realistic
4:21
as I can with you guys. While I
4:23
typically love, you know, those
4:26
beautiful soft organic cotton gauze
4:30
dresses. In fact, they're like my
4:32
favorite because of how comfortable they
4:34
are. It's the reason why I love them,
4:35
right? Not because it's a tread wipe
4:38
trend, right? But sometimes I just like
4:41
a blue jean denim jacket and a Lily
4:43
Palooer jumper or romper. You know, it
4:46
sometimes just depends on how I'm
4:47
feeling that day and what I have to do.
4:50
When you wake up in the morning and you
4:51
dress yourself, ask yourself,
4:54
what feels like me today? not
4:59
who's going to judge me when I walk out
5:01
the door in this outfit or with this
5:03
hairstyle or don't even put on makeup in
5:06
the morning when you wake up. Just go
5:08
out barefaced, you know, just do things
5:12
for you. Whatever makes you happy. When
5:15
I started pursuing um slow living and
5:18
minimalism, it was my way of being a
5:22
rebel in society, right? because I
5:24
pretty much got sick of living in the
5:27
hustle culture and trying to keep up
5:29
with everything and everybody all the
5:31
time. I got sick of filling my home, you
5:36
know, with everything that is on the
5:38
shelves when I go inside of a store or
5:40
all of the ads on my Facebook from all
5:42
of my favorite stores because they know
5:43
what your favorite store is. It's so
5:45
easy for them to get you. And I knew
5:47
that it was time for me to start being
5:48
more minimal in my purchases and in the
5:51
choices that I make, being more
5:52
intentional with it because there are a
5:54
lot of things that I don't want to pass
5:57
down to my children. While it is truly
6:00
freeing to have a decluttered home,
6:04
minimal things to manage in my current
6:07
season because I have little kids, I
6:09
don't have a ton of time to be cleaning
6:12
up all day. And it's so easy to get your
6:15
home filled up with a ton of toys where
6:18
it can really be overstimulating the
6:20
environment for your children, but also
6:21
for us as moms and homemakers. We
6:23
already have, you know, things that we
6:26
need to manage in that day, people that
6:28
we need to manage and feed and things
6:30
like that. And just having a bunch of
6:32
stuff to manage as well, that can really
6:35
be difficult. That reason alone was why
6:37
I began pursuing minimalism, slow
6:39
living, and things like that. And even
6:41
though I encourage it a lot here on this
6:43
channel, that's not the one and only way
6:46
to go about living life. Therefore, if
6:50
it's not for you, then don't do it. And
6:52
that's my advice for pretty much
6:54
anything in life. Make sure that we are
6:57
just being careful. Long as what you're
7:00
doing is pleasing to the Lord,
7:02
everything else will fall in place. And
7:04
I truly truly believe that. And so this
7:09
is something that I myself have been
7:11
getting caught up in, especially in
7:13
terms of being a business owner, a
7:15
content creator, a mother. I'm always
7:18
worried about how others will perceive
7:20
me. And as much as I try and tell myself
7:22
like I don't care, the truth is that
7:25
deep down I do. And I'm just really
7:27
trying to ask the Lord to work through
7:30
me in this and really help me to, you
7:34
know, break free of this and inspire you
7:36
all to as well. I'm often wondering like
7:40
how can I put this business product out
7:42
there and market it in a way that is
7:44
appealing to others and creating content
7:48
for the algorithm. Back when I used to
7:51
like do hair in a salon, I felt like I
7:54
was actually the brand, right? So when I
7:56
would go out, I felt like my hair needed
7:57
to be perfect. My nails needed to be
8:00
perfect. Someone sees you and you're
8:02
looking a little bit crazy, maybe
8:03
they're probably not going to want to
8:06
come sit in your chair. So for a long
8:08
time, I've been just worried about how
8:10
others perceive me in work. But also, as
8:14
a mom, recently I took my kids to the
8:16
pool and I almost didn't go. Both of my
8:19
children, they're water babies. They
8:21
love being in the pool, in the water,
8:22
and things like that. But on a specific
8:24
day, we couldn't get into the water.
8:27
They were treating it. There were like
8:28
ducks swimming inside of the pool, so
8:31
they just wanted to make sure that it
8:32
was clean and everything. So, we could
8:33
go around the pool, but we couldn't get
8:35
in it. Basically, almost didn't go
8:36
because they didn't want to have my
8:39
children frustrated with not being able
8:41
to get in the water because my daughter
8:43
very difficult to tell her why we can't
8:45
get in the water. There's no like fence
8:46
for rolling and stopping her from
8:48
walking into the water. Just me and I
8:50
just didn't want to chase her around the
8:53
pool area. Instead, I just wanted us to
8:55
be able to relax poolside. So, I was
8:57
asking myself like, what can I do in
8:59
order to keep the kids busy? And for my
9:02
2-year-old right now, sometimes the
9:04
tablet just works. She likes to watch
9:07
Moana singalongs and Frozen sing alongs.
9:10
It kind of just works sometimes.
9:12
Sometimes I will just bring popsicles
9:14
and allow them to eat some popsicles.
9:16
That'll keep them busy for a while at
9:18
the pool before they have something to
9:20
color with. It takes a lot of practice.
9:22
But on this specific day, I decided to
9:24
go with the tablets because it was
9:26
quick. It was easy. We had been
9:28
homeschooling all day. And we were just,
9:31
I don't know, 30 minutes away from nap
9:32
time. So, I knew her temperament was
9:35
going to be not the best. You know, we
9:38
know these things. And I almost didn't
9:40
go to the pool because I didn't want
9:41
anyone from way across the pool looking
9:43
at me saying like, "Oh, she's a tablet
9:45
mom." Like, she gave her 2-year-old a
9:47
tablet instead of them just sitting and
9:50
enjoying this beautiful weather. And
9:52
while I would rather
9:55
my 2-year-old be able to just sit
9:57
poolside and not get distracted by the
10:01
pool itself and wanting to go and run
10:03
around and play because obviously that's
10:05
what she's going to want to do. That's
10:07
that's what it's there for. While I
10:09
would have rather that she would be able
10:10
to just kind of just sit there and calm,
10:14
she's two 2-year-olds, that's not their
10:17
temperament all the time. Sure, there
10:20
are some times where she might escal,
10:22
but you guys, it's rare. My 2-year-old,
10:25
she wants to do things, okay? She is at
10:28
that age. She's curious and she's busy.
10:30
I realize like I'm really in my own
10:33
head. Nobody cares. Nobody cares about
10:35
you. They're probably not paying you no
10:37
attention, but here you are trying to
10:40
cancel out going to the pool with your
10:43
children and enjoying the beautiful
10:45
weather because you're so worried that
10:46
someone is going to judge you for
10:48
pulling out a tablet. And that is just
10:49
one example. Sometimes we can really get
10:52
in our own heads. I know I'm not the
10:54
only one, you know, feeling this way. I
10:57
know, you know, especially if you're a
10:59
mom, maybe you can relate to that story.
11:01
And so I have given a handful of
11:04
examples of how I myself have fallen
11:07
into this trap of trying to please other
11:10
people and forgetting that the Bible
11:14
literally tells us and instructs us to
11:18
live not for men but for God. And so I
11:22
just wanted to share that with you all
11:24
today just in case maybe because of
11:27
everything that's going on with the
11:28
world, the world is so loud. Maybe you
11:31
might forget it too sometimes. And here
11:33
on my channel, as much as I encourage
11:35
you and try to just live out whatever my
11:38
current season of life is and share that
11:40
with you guys in case maybe it can be
11:42
helpful and beneficial for you, I think
11:44
it's still also very important that we
11:46
just be very careful not to fall into
11:48
the trap of comparison, the trap of
11:52
people pleasing, and just remember, live
11:55
the life that makes us happy. live in
11:58
the city that you love. Wear the clothes
12:00
that make you feel comfortable, make you
12:03
feel good, even if it's not the most
12:05
trending thing in the store. Pull out
12:07
the tablet if you have to pull out the
12:09
tablet if that is kind of what's going
12:11
to work for you in that moment.
12:13
Obviously, having the kids in front of a
12:16
screen indefinitely and no limits, we
12:19
know it's not good. But listen here,
12:23
you know your lifestyle. how you know
12:26
the season of life that you are in. And
12:29
as long as you are living alive that is
12:33
pleasing to the Lord,
12:37
everything is going to fall in place.
12:39
And if there's anything that you're not
12:41
sure if it's people pleasing or if it's
12:44
not a good choice to make in life, all I
12:46
say is pray about it. If I was so
12:48
worried about that tablet, the best
12:50
thing for me to have done in that
12:51
situation is to ask God to give me more
12:55
ways to be able to keep my children
12:57
occupied and entertained without the
13:00
tablet, without screen times, and trust
13:02
that in time the Lord is going to guide
13:05
my life. Topic of this video is just to
13:08
stop people pleasing and live the life
13:09
that you want to live. So, I hope that
13:11
you guys enjoyed this kind of sit down
13:13
encouragement. If you did, give it a
13:15
thumbs up and I'll see you guys in the
13:16
next video.
