Yesterday
0:14
there was [music] sun and [singing]
0:15
there was rain.
0:17
Beauty in the mundane. [music]
0:22
And as the light
0:25
startled [singing]
0:26
our eyes, we let go of disguise.
0:34
And now [music]
0:37
there's something [singing] in the air
0:40
and a sparkly shimmer on our skin,
0:45
restoring everything within.
0:50
Oh,
0:55
>> my home has been definitely needing one
0:57
of those really good resets. So, today
0:59
we're going to be doing the whole thing.
1:01
I'm cleaning the entire house,
1:02
decluttering [music]
1:03
a few areas that have gotten a little
1:04
bit out of control, as well as adding
1:06
some simple and [music] subtle fall
1:08
touches along the way. Nothing too
1:10
crazy, nothing fancy, and definitely not
1:12
a complete seasonal makeover. However,
1:14
[music]
1:15
I really want the house to feel clean,
1:17
peaceful, and ready for the next and
1:18
upcoming season. So, let's just go ahead
1:21
and get [music] started. Of course, I am
1:23
going to be starting in the kitchen like
1:25
I typically always do. Sometimes I have
1:27
to load the dishwasher. Sometimes I need
1:29
to just unload it. So, this time around,
1:31
I have to unload the dishes from last
1:34
night that I loaded after dinner. I've
1:36
been really doing well with making sure
1:39
that I closed down the kitchen every
1:40
night, and that has been really
1:42
beneficial for me, waking up the next
1:44
morning to a clean home, not having a
1:46
ton of things to do before I begin
1:48
cooking breakfast. However, sometimes
1:50
there are just a couple of dishes left
1:52
over, about a handful or so. So, I'm
1:54
going to get these ones unloaded and
1:55
placed away inside of the cabinets. And
1:58
then I'm going to go ahead and load
2:00
those few that were left over. For
2:02
today's clean with me, you guys, as you
2:04
can see around the countertop initially
2:07
that there is just a lot of clutter. I
2:10
mentioned in a couple of my previous
2:12
videos that here and there, I've
2:14
definitely been seeing and putting off
2:15
some of the areas of my home that are
2:17
cluttered. Today we're going to be
2:18
tackling one of those big areas that I
2:21
really needed to get to as well as just
2:23
removing a little bit of like just
2:25
everyday clutter off the counters and
2:27
putting them back in their spaces. I
2:29
think I have gone 2 weeks before the
2:31
last time that I removed like all of the
2:33
clutter out of our main living areas. I
2:36
have been staying on top of it doing it
2:38
every single week that I took a week off
2:41
and it's definitely showing. Whenever I
2:43
do that, it definitely takes me a bit
2:45
longer to clean because I always notice
2:47
that the thing that takes me the longest
2:49
when I'm cleaning my home is putting
2:51
everything back in its place and putting
2:53
everything [music] back where it
2:54
belongs. It never really takes too much
2:56
time to load the dishwasher, to put the
2:58
dishes away, to sweep, to mop, to make
3:01
the bed. That's literally like the
3:02
basics, right? The bulk of the time is
3:05
normally putting things back in their
3:07
places. So, there's normally things all
3:09
over the countertop. Sometimes there's
3:11
laundry out of place, like just random
3:14
clothes thrown around my kids floor or
3:17
there are normally like house shoes and
3:18
slippers all over the floor, a pile of
3:20
shoes that normally piles up like in the
3:23
doorway area and then my kids often
3:26
bring toys downstairs or something. I do
3:28
not mind at all. And so I normally just
3:30
[music] need to take all of that stuff,
3:32
put it back where it goes, and if I
3:36
don't do it like, you know, weekly,
3:38
[music]
3:38
then of course it just piles up even
3:41
more. There is one thing to like clean
3:43
as far as like [music] doing the dishes
3:45
every single night, cleaning, like
3:47
sweeping or mopping the floor and things
3:48
like that, but sometimes I wipe around
3:51
the stuff on the counter, sweep around
3:53
the stuff on the floor, and only put the
3:55
dishes away, [music]
3:57
only wipe down the bathroom and things
3:59
like that. However, sometimes it needs a
4:01
deep clean and sometimes you just got to
4:04
get that stuff off the counter and put
4:05
it away. So, that's what I'm [music]
4:06
doing today. Some of the dishes also had
4:10
like a little bit of [music] food stuck
4:12
on it in the dishwasher alone cannot
4:15
handle that. So you guys [music] just
4:16
seen me giving one of my Disney
4:19
Favorware cookie sheets a good scrub
4:22
because I used this cookie sheet [music]
4:24
to make like baked chicken and some of
4:26
the like I don't know burnt sauce or
4:29
seasoning [music] got stuck in the
4:30
corners and things. So I'm going to try
4:31
to clean as much of it as I can before I
4:33
load it into the dishwasher. This is a
4:36
Samsung dishwasher and we've had it for
4:38
about 2 and 1/2 years now. It's really
4:41
[music]
4:42
really good. Does a great job of
4:44
cleaning the dishes. However, I'm going
4:46
to try and do my part and get some of
4:48
that food off as well. Another thing
4:50
that I've really been wanting to do is a
4:52
kitchen pantry reset and reorganize my
4:55
pantry. So, I went ahead and just
4:58
purchased one extra box of kitchen
5:01
pantry um canisters and containers.
5:05
These ones come from Walmart. They're
5:07
like $20 or so, and you just get like a
5:10
box of them of multiple different sizes.
5:13
They only gave me two of the like large
5:15
pasta ones and I think I probably will
5:19
need a couple more of those if I can't
5:20
find any around the home, but the rest
5:23
of them are pretty good sizes. I'm
5:25
getting those loaded inside of the
5:26
dishwasher because I don't feel like
5:29
washing them all by hand. So, since the
5:31
dishwasher is pretty empty [music] right
5:33
now, there's just a couple of dishes in
5:35
there, I feel like now is my chance to
5:36
go ahead and get them loaded inside of
5:39
the dishwasher so that when I'm ready to
5:41
get started with the kitchen pantry
5:44
reset, [music] which is probably going
5:46
to be this upcoming week, I'll at least
5:48
have all of the, you know, containers
5:50
and things clean and ready to go. And
5:52
that's just one more thing that I don't
5:54
have to worry about. So, I love doing
5:56
something today that's going to be
5:57
helpful for me tomorrow or down the
5:58
line. And that's what I'm doing right
6:00
now. Just going to get the dishwasher
6:02
loaded. And then I am going to go ahead
6:05
and put all of the stuff that's on the
6:08
kitchen counters away. And then we're
6:10
going to move on to the family room
6:11
because my children have like I
6:12
mentioned toys. And you guys will see I
6:15
literally put the toys behind like the
6:17
baby gate where we have around the
6:20
fireplace so that I could mop the floor.
6:22
And that's what I was talking about when
6:23
I say sometimes you pretty much just
6:26
move things out the way and you clean
6:28
around them. And that is exactly what
6:30
I've been doing for the past week or
6:32
two. Just moving around things that I
6:35
know need to be put away. Especially
6:37
because you guys, we just started
6:38
homeschool as well 2 days ago. We
6:41
started like late in the week because
6:42
neither me or my son could wait to dive
6:46
in into our new third grade curriculum.
6:49
I sat down. I did a full curriculum
6:52
unboxing and initial review for you guys
6:54
as well as an additional homeschool
6:56
video, but you guys will see that soon.
6:58
So, it's just been a bit of a busier
6:59
week [music] and just showing you guys
7:02
around. You can definitely see the
7:04
effects it has had on my home. So, I
7:07
wanted to just give you guys a little
7:09
look at like all the clutter, the little
7:11
things that I'm referring to when I say
7:12
things have just pretty much gotten out
7:14
of place and [music] we have to put them
7:16
away. So, since my now 2-year-old
7:20
daughter began crawling, we had put up
7:23
like this little baby gate around the
7:25
fireplace. It's an extra wide gate. It
7:28
actually comes with a few more pieces,
7:29
but it worked perfect because we have
7:31
like a [music] brick fireplace or stone
7:35
fireplace and when she was crawling and
7:37
just beginning to walk, I didn't want
7:38
her to get hurt. However, that gate has
7:41
been perfect for other things as well.
7:42
Like I said, I sometimes place the toys
7:45
back there when one, either I don't want
7:47
them to play with it at the moment, or
7:49
two, I need to clean around, but I don't
7:51
feel like putting the toys away. And so,
7:54
we're going to put those away now. But
7:56
guys, another thing that I use that baby
7:57
gate for is whenever we have birthday
7:59
parties at our house, because I have had
8:02
my fair share of big elaborate birthday
8:04
parties, like out at places where you
8:06
rent an entire place for $5 or $800 or
8:09
whatnot. And it has been really fun, but
8:12
also very expensive. And now that we
8:15
have like a larger yard, I pretty much
8:18
just enjoy having birthday parties for
8:20
my kids while they're [music] little
8:21
here right in our home. We love to host
8:24
guests and have parties here for, you
8:26
know, the kids and things like that. And
8:28
that [music] gate is typically where we
8:29
place the birthday gifts. is perfect for
8:32
when you're having like children over
8:33
and things. If you don't want the kids
8:36
[music] to get to the presents,
8:38
especially like the younger ones, the
8:39
toddlers to get into [music] the gifts
8:41
and open them or get curious about them,
8:43
we place them behind the [music] gate
8:45
because normally there no one's really
8:48
worrying too much about it. No one's
8:50
trying to touch them or open them
8:51
[music] and you don't have to worry
8:53
about that type of fiasco. So now when
8:55
people come over, they know to just
8:56
place them there. We recently had my
8:58
daughter's birthday here and she turned
9:01
two and so I have like a little Mickey
9:03
birthday hat sign on the door. We have
9:06
this interchangeable welcome home sign
9:09
on the front door and I decided to
9:11
finally switch it out. I've been meaning
9:13
to switch it out to the summer one and
9:14
for some reason I never did it. It
9:16
literally takes a second but I'm just
9:18
going to skip past that and put the fall
9:19
one up because if I put summer up it's
9:22
probably going to stay up until winter
9:23
time when I'm going to forget to switch
9:25
it over to fall. So, I switched over the
9:27
seasonal little sign interchangeable
9:30
Mickey head for our welcome home sign.
9:32
And now, you guys, we're going to take a
9:34
quick break from cleaning and get into a
9:36
little bit of fall things. My
9:38
sister-in-law gifted me this beautiful
9:41
birthday fall basket. It has some really
9:44
cozy things in here, you guys. I took
9:46
some of the things out, but I also left
9:48
some things in here that I was trying to
9:50
go back and forth about if I should
9:52
decorate [music] the home with them now
9:54
or wait until we go back down south to
9:56
decorate. And I decided that I'm going
9:59
to actually [music] leave them here in
10:00
the basket and take them with us when we
10:02
go to Florida. So, I have these
10:04
beautiful Mickey and Minnie fall
10:07
pillows, some beautiful fall mugs and
10:09
[music] kitchen towels, as well as a
10:11
beautiful basket for them. So, at first
10:13
I was like, "Okay, maybe we are going to
10:15
put up the fall decor and then take it
10:18
back down before we leave." However, you
10:21
guys, I decided to go a different route
10:23
this time. [music] Once we get
10:25
everything cleared off of the kitchen
10:27
counters and get everything wiped down,
10:30
I'm actually going to pull out some of
10:31
my fall decor [music] from the previous
10:33
years, and we're going to put up a
10:35
little pieces, very subtle, because I
10:37
feel like fall is sneaking up on us.
10:39
It's not full bloom, but you can see the
10:41
subtle changes outside. That's
10:44
definitely showing you guys like fall is
10:46
around the corner. And that's what I'm
10:47
going to be doing around the home and
10:49
adding just some simple subtle pieces
10:51
that hint towards we're almost in the
10:53
fall season, but it's not in full bloom
10:55
yet. And then whatever I put up around
10:57
the home, I'm not going to take it back
10:59
down or I'm not going to pack it away, I
11:01
guess, to go to Florida with us.
11:03
Instead, I'm going to only take anything
11:06
that I didn't use with us, including the
11:09
new decor that I got from my
11:10
sister-in-law, adding that to some of
11:13
the fall stuff that we already have in
11:15
Florida from last year. That way, I
11:17
don't have to worry about putting it up
11:18
and taking it back down at the last
11:20
minute, only having it up for a couple
11:21
of weeks because that was a thing that I
11:23
was back and forth about. I was gifted
11:25
from a friend some farm fresh eggs. This
11:28
is the first time I've ever had like hen
11:30
eggs fresh off the farm. And she was
11:32
telling me, her and my sister-in-law,
11:34
that you can leave the [music] eggs out
11:37
room temperature and they won't go bad.
11:40
So, I've been having them sitting on the
11:42
counter and then I clean them when I'm
11:43
ready to use them. She mentioned that
11:46
you have to clean them before you put
11:47
them in the fridge. Guys, I'm completely
11:49
new to this. I have no idea. So, I still
11:51
have like four more eggs left just
11:53
sitting on the counter. Then I just have
11:56
like like I said you guys a lot of
11:58
things around the kitchen that also I
12:02
think I can maybe make a bit more
12:04
minimal. But you guys are all things
12:06
that we have been using. So we're going
12:08
to try our best to move things around
12:10
and make it look a [music] bit more
12:12
seasonal. I guess first I'm just
12:14
cleaning things, wiping it down, the
12:15
coffee pot, the counters and everything
12:18
like that. And then I'll show you guys
12:20
just some of the things [music] that
12:22
we're going to be putting up. Um, for
12:26
fall, as mentioned, it's just some
12:27
things that I pulled out from last year,
12:29
but you guys, they've become favorites.
12:31
Every year, I might add one or two new
12:33
pieces or I'm gifted a couple of new
12:35
pieces, but I don't always do a huge
12:37
[music] seasonal fall haul. I just not
12:40
for fall. However, one of my favorite
12:43
things that I picked [music] up last
12:44
year were these recipe boards. I think
12:47
they're super cute. I'm going to [music]
12:49
put the pumpkin pie one up and then take
12:52
the apple pie one to Florida. I also
12:54
[music] have some Mickey Mouse. Of
12:56
course, we love We are Disney loving
12:59
families here. [music] We have Disney
13:02
annual passes. Before that, we went to
13:05
Disney World every fall season. Ever
13:07
since my son was about 2 years old, that
13:10
was our tradition. We go to Disney World
13:13
and we take him to their fall or
13:15
Halloween party. And so, we always would
13:18
put up basically like Disney themed
13:19
[music]
13:20
fall and Halloween decor. and then my
13:23
son would know it's almost time for us
13:25
to go to Disney World. So, I have plenty
13:27
of Disney fall decor. I'm going to put a
13:29
couple of them up. But you guys, I also
13:31
decided to use a pumpkin [music] like
13:34
jar to store my dishwasher pots. And I
13:37
thought that that was a brilliant idea.
13:39
[laughter] I don't know. Let me know
13:40
what you guys think. But I thought it
13:42
was super cute to just store some
13:44
dishwasher pots inside of that little
13:46
pumpkin jar canister. That way they're
13:49
easy to grab. So, yes, we're going to be
13:51
adding a few simple [music] fall
13:53
touches, but we're also going to be
13:55
keeping it very practical and convenient
13:58
as well. I always like to pull out a
14:00
cute like wooden board of some sort
14:03
around fall time. I just feel like it's
14:05
cozy and it has fall written all over
14:07
it. So, I normally have a couple of them
14:09
all over the place. [music] Um, I think
14:11
they just help things to tie in
14:12
together. So, I pulled one out and we're
14:14
just going to be putting the Google Nest
14:15
on there as well as our utensils.
14:17
[music]
14:18
putting a cute little plant around it. I
14:20
always keep a poss somewhere [music] in
14:22
my kitchen. And then adding a little
14:24
hello fall backdrop sign behind the
14:27
pumpkin jar. I think that the color
14:30
scheme pretty much ties together well.
14:32
And then we need to figure out the other
14:34
side. So I have been pretty much just
14:35
using one of the shelves over our
14:37
kitchen sink for coffee, I guess, or you
14:42
know, as like a coffee bar station. But
14:44
we have a cabinet that's completely
14:46
empty that I have nothing in you guys
14:49
because we are snowbirds and we travel
14:51
back and forth. Sometimes I just do not
14:54
utilize every cabinet we come back
14:56
because that's just more work for me to
14:58
do before we leave. More things to take
15:01
down and we don't even need a ton since
15:04
becoming a more minimal family. So, I'll
15:07
probably put the coffee stuff inside
15:08
that empty cabinet. And then we're going
15:10
to display some really cute fall mugs up
15:13
on the shelves instead. I always pull
15:15
out the cup of cozy and pumpkin [music]
15:18
spice make mama nice fall mugs, but I'm
15:22
also adding a Disney themed one as well
15:24
with [music] the Disney themed vase that
15:26
I have up on the counter because this is
15:29
typically the season where we start
15:31
bringing in floral arrangements multiple
15:33
time a week because the flowers are
15:35
probably on their last bloom and not
15:37
going to bloom anymore this season. So,
15:39
we just start displaying them [music]
15:41
inside of the home. I am also going to
15:43
be putting a little fall tray with some
15:46
fall leaves on the buffet stand and
15:49
adding a little floral [music] vase on
15:52
top of that. You guys, on that buffet
15:54
stand, we still have like our fly zapper
15:57
in our harvest basket. [music] So, it's
15:59
pretty much like still a couple summer
16:00
things out and so it's not, like I said,
16:04
full bloom fall right now. So, I'm
16:07
definitely leaving that little fly
16:08
zapper out. It's right next to the patio
16:10
door. So if any flies try to come in
16:11
when we're in and out, we can just have
16:14
them go into that little electric like
16:16
it's very discreet, you guys. Perfect.
16:19
Um, and then the little baskets that my
16:21
kids like to go and pick things out of
16:23
the little garden we have as well by the
16:25
door, too. For the kitchen table, we're
16:28
also keeping it simple. We're just going
16:29
to add one of those [music] tiered
16:31
trays. Just two tiers. And we always
16:34
light a candle during dinner. It's like
16:36
our thing, a little intimate family
16:38
dinner that we have every night together
16:40
where we light a candle and we eat
16:42
together. Trying to be very intentional,
16:45
but I added a fall sign to that. Kept
16:47
it, like I said, pretty simple. Added a
16:49
couple of coasters. So, let's take
16:51
[music] a step away from the fall decor
16:54
and get back into some cleaning. Now, we
16:56
have to sweep and mop the floors. And we
16:59
still have to do upstairs and the
17:00
bathrooms, too. However, once I finish
17:03
up sweeping and mopping here, you guys,
17:05
I really want to go into the front room,
17:09
[music] which used to be like our
17:10
homeschool area. But there's also an
17:12
area [music]
17:14
that has like all of my husband's
17:16
electronics. I mean, a ton of them.
17:18
Video games, camera equipment,
17:20
batteries, anything you can think of,
17:22
electronic, he throws it on this little
17:25
table, and he needs some serious serious
17:28
[music] decluttering, you guys. So,
17:30
we're going to get into that. But you
17:32
guys, my husband just ordered a new
17:36
Ninja Creamy Deluxe. I love the size of
17:39
it, you guys. It's so much smaller than
17:41
our Ninja Slushie machine. We love our
17:44
Ninja Slushie machine. However, now I'm
17:47
trying to figure out if we're going to
17:48
take the Ninja Slushie to Florida or
17:51
just the Ninja Creamy because the Ninja
17:53
Creamy can make ice cream, Frappuccinos,
17:55
and slushies while the slush machine
17:58
just makes I think just the slushies. I
18:01
don't know. We definitely cannot fit
18:03
both of them on our kitchen counter. So,
18:05
that's something for us to figure out, I
18:07
guess, once I've had more time to play
18:09
around with the creamy. But, he just
18:10
bought it, so it's literally in the
18:12
middle of the floor. So, we're going to
18:13
just set that on the counter. And then I
18:15
have to, like I said, sweep [music] and
18:17
mop. And then you guys, there are some
18:19
boxes over on the counter next to the
18:21
stove as well because [music] we ordered
18:23
a few extra utensils because some of our
18:25
utensils were beginning to fade away and
18:28
lose colors. Like I always pick gold
18:30
ones and sometimes the gold will stay
18:32
gold, but sometimes if they're cheap,
18:33
the gold will begin to turn silver.
18:36
[music] And I'm not sure how I feel
18:39
about that. I don't know. So, we're
18:42
replacing [music] them. And it had been
18:44
a while since we had like steak knives.
18:46
We just had butter knives, a couple of
18:48
extra like, you know, [music] cutting
18:50
knives. So, we got some new steak
18:52
knives. And then baby girl also needed
18:56
some new utensil sets. And then [music]
18:59
we ordered a new knife block. So, that's
19:01
what's in those boxes, just in case you
19:03
guys were wondering. But, just doing a
19:06
quick mop around the kitchen. We're
19:09
going to mop the family room as well.
19:11
And then, like I said, we're going to
19:12
move on to the living room. So, you
19:15
guys, I filmed a day in the life video
19:16
where you guys will see me setting up
19:18
the home school desk that you see
19:20
[music] over next to the patio door.
19:22
This is our new homechool area. You
19:23
guys, like I mentioned, my husband, he's
19:26
been working in the front room while
19:28
we're renovating our basement. And in
19:30
that day in the life video, you guys, I
19:32
also take you guys down to the basement
19:33
and show you the renovations that we're
19:35
kind of doing and everything and why we
19:38
have decided to put both my desk and my
19:41
son's desk inside the family room and
19:43
let my husband work in the front room.
19:46
you guys [music] are interested and you
19:47
want to see like us do the homeschool
19:48
area setup and see new house updates,
19:51
renovations, all that good stuff, make
19:53
sure you check out the day in the life
19:55
video that I'm going to be sharing with
19:57
you guys next week. But for now, let's
20:01
get into some decluttering. We have our
20:04
battery charger, a bunch of boxes with
20:06
batteries inside of it. So, I'm going to
20:08
take all the batteries out of the box.
20:09
You guys look at this table. There's
20:11
literally no more space. You can't fit
20:13
anything else on this table. So, let's
20:16
take care [music] of this. It's gotten
20:18
way out of hand. I think I mentioned in
20:20
a few videos that I pretty much had been
20:23
putting it [music] off. So, we're going
20:25
to throw away all the empty boxes. My
20:27
husband likes to collect his old
20:29
electronic boxes, I guess, in case he
20:32
gives it away or if he sells it, he'll
20:34
have like the boxes for them still. But
20:37
when we did our garage declutter last
20:40
year, he literally had a huge bin full
20:43
of empty boxes that he never did
20:45
anything with. It's just his thing. I'm
20:47
not going to bother him with it.
20:48
However, we're going to find a new place
20:50
for it because it can't fit here. And
20:53
yeah, we'll see what home he finds for
20:55
it. Maybe another random garage bin that
20:57
we will find when we declutter the
20:59
garage again in a couple of weeks.
21:01
There's a few camera tripods because my
21:03
husband, one of his clients, he does
21:06
like film work for. So, he films a bulk
21:09
of the content for them while we are
21:11
here [music]
21:12
and goes multiple times throughout, you
21:15
know, the summer. He used to go multiple
21:17
times throughout the year, but once we
21:19
relocated and became snowbirds, now he
21:21
does a bulk of it while we're in town so
21:23
that he has a ton of it to edit for
21:25
marketing purposes for them [music] when
21:27
we are away. So, he has a ton of camera
21:30
equipment out, [music] you guys. As well
21:32
as like VR stuff, gaming equipment. I
21:35
don't even think he uses [music] his old
21:38
like PlayStation anymore. Or is that a
21:40
Xbox One? You guys, I really don't know
21:43
anymore. However, I'm just doing my best
21:45
here because [music] I don't want to
21:46
misplace his things, but I want to make
21:48
it look a bit more tidy and neat. So,
21:50
I'm storing things in like wooden boxes
21:53
inside the inside of our lift top coffee
21:55
table. All the cords, like the small
21:58
cords, are gonna go in the wooden box.
22:00
And then we're gonna store the extra
22:03
batteries inside of the lifttop coffee
22:05
table and tuck the battery charger
22:07
somewhere in the back because we have a
22:09
2-year, you guys. Batteries are such a
22:12
hazard for little ones. They just should
22:14
not [music] be kept around. And my
22:18
husband has been charging some batteries
22:20
because she of course always needs
22:22
batteries for her toys. However, we have
22:25
to keep them tucked away. So, either
22:27
inside of the coffee table, somewhere
22:29
tucked away where basically she can't
22:32
get to it. This table area actually took
22:35
me a lot more time than I thought it
22:38
would. And that's probably the reason
22:39
why I was putting it off because I kind
22:42
of just knew and had a feeling that it
22:44
would take me some time. And I knew this
22:46
because I decluttered this table many
22:49
times before. So, when it comes to
22:53
decluttering, when you're just moving
22:55
things around and storing them away,
22:58
like I guess making it look more tidy, I
23:01
don't even know if you can really call
23:02
that decluttering. It's more so just
23:05
like organizing or tidying, maybe even
23:08
hiding things. Decluttering, you would
23:11
kind of just actually have to remove
23:13
some things. And the only things that I
23:16
removed from this area is like empty
23:18
boxes and trash and things like that.
23:21
But everything else I'm pretty much
23:22
putting away. Like I'm putting batteries
23:24
on the battery charger, putting the rest
23:26
inside of the lift top table. I'm
23:28
putting all the quarts away inside of
23:30
the storage box where we keep all the
23:33
tiny quarts for my husband's electronics
23:35
and things like that. Just putting the
23:37
game back on their chargers. pretty much
23:40
putting things, you know, making it look
23:43
a lot neater. And that is the reason why
23:46
I find myself having to declutter this
23:49
area multiple times because I didn't
23:51
really do a real and full declutter
23:53
because like I said, a lot of this stuff
23:56
just belongs to my husband and I try not
23:59
to move all his things around. I want to
24:01
be, you know, respectful of his space as
24:03
well. Even though I don't mind, you
24:06
know, throwing away some of my things or
24:09
putting them somewhere in storage to
24:11
minimize it and things like that. Even
24:13
though that is something that I like to
24:15
do, my husband is not the same and
24:18
[music]
24:19
I don't want to, you know, basically
24:22
just force my own views and my own way
24:24
of doing things on him. So, I try
24:26
[music] my best to work with him because
24:29
you guys, that is marriage. Sometimes
24:31
you got to compromise [music]
24:33
and sometimes you got to kind of just
24:36
you guys got to find a middle ground. So
24:38
the middle ground is I get to make it
24:40
look tidy even put them where I want
24:43
them to be as long as [music] we're not,
24:46
you know, getting rid of it and throwing
24:47
it away. Like I said, a lot of the stuff
24:48
he actually needs. And because he no
24:51
longer has his office space, the least I
24:53
could do is try to keep this area tidy
24:56
for him because the office area that he
24:59
used to worked in, it was much bigger.
25:01
It was like half of our entire basement.
25:03
He had a ton of closet space. So, to be
25:06
honest, you guys, he really did minimize
25:08
and get rid of a lot of things. And I'm
25:09
trying my best here to just, you know,
25:13
not make it too too hard on him. Aside
25:16
from the electronics, we also have two
25:20
guitars
25:22
that also needs a home. One of them has
25:26
like a guitar bag. It's my son's. And I
25:28
think we're going to just put it in the
25:30
guitar bag and probably end up taking it
25:32
with us to Florida. Try to find him some
25:34
sort of online like music lessons or
25:36
something like as an extracurricular for
25:38
him during homeschool. I bought them
25:40
both matching guitars, the child-siz one
25:43
and the adult one. one Christmas, maybe
25:46
Christmas before last, but my husband's
25:48
did not come with a guitar stand or a
25:52
bag. I ordered it from Guitar Hero. And
25:55
I don't know, I just didn't think to get
25:56
a guitar stand. So, either I'll have to
25:58
buy one or I'll see if my husband can
26:01
maybe print [music] one with his 3D
26:02
printer depending on how strong the
26:04
material is going to be. I think he'll
26:07
probably be able to do that. So, we'll
26:08
see. So, in the meantime, you guys, I'm
26:11
kind of just going to have to stand them
26:13
and lean them up against the wall. I
26:15
really did the best that I can. I feel
26:19
like it made a huge difference [music]
26:22
and it looks a whole lot tidier and
26:25
neater. And at least I was able to
26:27
learn, you know, what I actually need
26:29
going forward is maybe to, like I said,
26:34
get a guitar stand for our guitar and
26:37
have a discussion. and have a discussion
26:39
with my husband. Another area of the
26:42
home that's getting a bit messy is our
26:44
hallway area. So, the hallway has been
26:46
getting a ton of traffic from packages
26:49
that have been coming in between today
26:51
and yesterday and the day before. So, we
26:54
have packages that we normally put on
26:56
subscribe and save that I have to go
26:57
through. It's like paper towels and
26:59
toilet paper and microfiber, cleaning
27:02
towels, baby [music] wipes, all that
27:04
stuff. So, we have a ton of packages in
27:06
the hallway that I also need to get
27:08
around to tackling later on today. I
27:11
also ended up putting a small little
27:14
rug, like a homeschool rug, an ABC rug
27:17
in front of our our buffet table in the
27:21
family room because I figured since
27:23
we're going to be storing some learning
27:25
like Montasauri puzzles and activities
27:27
and books on that buffet shelf area, I
27:31
should [music] put like a soft rug for
27:32
her to, you know, sit on when she is
27:35
playing with those items. Make it a
27:37
little bit more comfy for her. Yeah,
27:38
it's not of course like the I guess most
27:41
aesthetic thing like it's a random rug
27:43
off to the side of the room. It's not
27:45
like one of those large rugs or anything
27:47
that covers the whole floor because I
27:49
prefer to also keep things more minimal.
27:52
In fact, that at this home, we do not
27:55
have like curtains at all downstairs. We
27:57
don't have rugs, anything like that. It
27:59
just makes cleaning and dusting things
28:02
like that easier so that I'm not
28:04
vacuuming and mopping. I just have to
28:06
mop in there usually. [music] So, just
28:08
that small rug so she can have a little
28:10
bit of cushion. Also, you guys, we used
28:13
to have the rug down before my daughter
28:16
began to walk. You guys, I thought that
28:19
if I would remove the rug, she would
28:21
begin to walk because she liked to crawl
28:24
around the carpets and on the rug in the
28:26
family room. But when it came to
28:28
crawling around the kitchen, I noticed
28:31
she hated it. So, I was like, "You know
28:34
what? before her first birthday.
28:36
Literally the week of her first
28:37
birthday, you guys, I took the whole rug
28:39
up. And literally the day before she
28:42
turned one, she started walking. She did
28:45
not like how it felt to have her knees
28:47
on the bare floor. So, there's a tip if
28:49
you're trying to get your little one to
28:51
start walking. If you notice that they
28:54
just find it more comfy to do it on like
28:56
carpeted floors and they're, you know,
28:58
to that age where it's safe to encourage
29:01
walking, I would say get rid of the rugs
29:03
or take them in an area where it's like
29:06
the kitchen for instant, the sidewalk,
29:08
things like that. [laughter]
29:10
Of course, on sidewalks and hard floors,
29:12
you're going to have to be careful, hold
29:13
their hands and things like that, but it
29:15
might encourage them to take some first
29:16
steps. So, there's a little tip for you
29:18
guys. However, we are definitely moving
29:20
right along halfway into the video. We
29:24
are heading upstairs, you guys. So, I
29:27
love that I have found a way to be able
29:28
to pretty much clean my home within 1
29:31
hour. It normally takes me half the time
29:33
to clean downstairs and then half the
29:35
time to clean upstairs as well. Laundry
29:37
in the bedroom is the biggest thing for
29:39
me, the desk and sometimes the
29:41
nightstand, but it's always usually
29:43
going to be the desk that gets messy
29:45
[music]
29:46
as well as some laundry that I have to
29:47
fold or put away. So, I needed to wash a
29:51
throw blanket, put some laundry off the
29:53
floors into the laundry bins, and
29:56
[music] then clean off the dresser. I
29:58
normally fold laundry on Sundays because
30:00
I prefer to rest that day. So [music]
30:02
feel like it's the perfect day for me to
30:05
pretty much like I don't think that
30:07
laundry takes a ton of energy. I usually
30:09
put something on that I enjoy watching
30:11
on YouTube. I finish the chosen TV
30:15
series. I'm waiting for the next season
30:16
of that. I used to turn that on while
30:18
folding and I just sit there relax with
30:21
a cup [music] of tea after church and
30:22
fold some laundry while watching
30:24
something. It doesn't really take a lot
30:25
of energy. It's still restful and when
30:27
I'm done, we can have dinner. I can take
30:29
a nice bath and things like that. my
30:31
daughter room. It gets a little bit more
30:33
messy cuz she [music] cannot clean her
30:35
room. But she's really great at messing
30:38
it up, throwing covers and stuffies and
30:40
toys all over the place, hair um
30:43
supplies, all types of things like her
30:45
little hair bowls and things. She just
30:48
loves to make a little mess. It's so
30:50
much fun [laughter] for her at this age.
30:53
So, definitely have to declutter it
30:55
soon. She has some toys on her
30:57
Montasauri shelf that she hasn't really
31:00
been playing with that much. And you
31:02
guys, speaking of Montasauri shelves, I
31:04
used to consider Montasauri when my now
31:08
7-year-old son was a toddler. However, I
31:10
was discouraged like by the price of
31:12
like actual Montasauri shelves. If you
31:14
type that in the search bar, however,
31:16
the shelving that we use, it's like $25.
31:19
It's like those room essentials like
31:21
cube storage um shelves and things like
31:24
that that you get for like $30 and those
31:26
are just fine. So that's what we have
31:28
been using in Florida. And then the one
31:31
that you guys see like we organize our
31:33
closets with those. We use it for mod
31:36
storage all types of things. Those
31:37
things are so inexpensive and so you
31:40
know they they pretty much get the job
31:42
done. So, now that we got my room taken
31:45
care of, baby girl's room taken care of,
31:48
my son is cleaning his room. He's seven.
31:50
He's old enough to be able to clean his
31:52
room. We're going to go back downstairs
31:56
and create a [music]
31:58
home cleaner because I'm running out of
32:02
allpurpose cleaner. However, it's very
32:04
easy to make one. If you have a glass
32:06
bottle, you literally just use like
32:08
alcohol, some distilled or filtered
32:11
water, a little bit of vinegar, not too
32:13
much because the smell can be
32:15
overpowering, and your favorite
32:16
essential oil. And it's good enough. It
32:19
does the job. It's great at cleaning. In
32:21
our guest bathroom, sometimes my son
32:23
likes to have an extra toothbrush down
32:25
there. But the toothbrush holder is
32:28
terrible, terrible quality. Every time
32:30
it gets wet, it just starts to look ugly
32:32
and yucky. You guys, I rinse it off and
32:36
clean it every time I'm cleaning the
32:37
bathroom and it just gets nasty again.
32:39
So, we're going to throw it away. And
32:41
we're actually going to take all of his
32:43
toothbrush supplies upstairs. I don't
32:45
think it's necessary for him to have a
32:48
spare set downstairs anymore. It used to
32:50
be helpful when he was much younger when
32:52
I often had to help him brush or tell
32:54
him what to do. It was just nice to have
32:56
two toothbrush stations because when we
33:00
were like busy and on the go, sometimes
33:02
one of us would be in the bathroom
33:03
upstairs, another one need to be using
33:05
the one downstairs. And so it would be
33:08
just helpful to have extras, but it's
33:10
just not necessary. Everything is going
33:11
to be stored upstairs. And we're just
33:13
going [music] to wipe down the counters,
33:14
clean the toilet, sweep and mop the
33:16
bathroom floors. And I mentioned this
33:18
[music] in many of my cleaning videos,
33:19
but we have white sinks around the home.
33:22
And we also have oil water that can get
33:24
a lot of mineral buildup. And so it can
33:26
have like a yellowish stain. Wherever
33:29
there's water on white. So the toilets,
33:32
the kitchen sinks, the bathroom [music]
33:33
sinks, the tubs, all of that. And I
33:35
always feel the need to give that
33:36
disclaimer so that you guys don't think
33:38
it's dirty. Sometimes I use iron out,
33:40
which is a chemical heavy product that
33:42
literally works like a charm. Gets all
33:44
those rust stains up. You spray it, walk
33:46
away, and come back in about a minute or
33:48
two and it's gone. However, I try not to
33:51
use it every single time I clean because
33:52
like I said, it's very chemical heavy.
33:54
The smell can be very, very strong.
33:57
[music] So, I'm trying to just instead
34:00
use a homemade cleaner this time around.
34:02
And we'll get the rest stains [music]
34:05
out of the sink the next time we clean.
34:08
And I just don't do it every single time
34:10
just to limit the exposure of chemicals
34:12
around the home. And then another thing
34:14
is we have like white counters, white
34:17
walls, white cabinets, and with white
34:19
it's pretty, but yeah, it gets pretty
34:22
dirty pretty quickly and you can see
34:23
everything. So, we often have to wipe
34:25
those down as well to make sure that
34:27
they actually stay pretty. Otherwise,
34:29
it's just defeats the purpose of having
34:31
white cabinets and things like that.
34:33
But, a really quick wipe down. Nothing
34:34
too crazy. I'm not scrubbing it down
34:36
with the pink stuff. Just giving it a
34:38
basic, simple wipe down. I'm going to
34:42
wash down the toilet and keep it moving.
34:45
So, when it comes to my son [music]
34:49
cleaning his bedroom, I would notice
34:52
that he would easily [music] become
34:54
overwhelmed, you guys. But I wanted to
34:56
share something that has helped him, and
34:59
that is by giving him a checklist. I've
35:02
learned that, and you guys, there's like
35:04
spiderw webs and everything in the
35:06
corners of this bathroom. So, I'm trying
35:08
to wipe the walls down and everything
35:10
the best that I can, but I learned that
35:13
it's just that he needs [music]
35:14
some instructions and I don't want to
35:17
stand over him and try to tell him what
35:19
to do. So, what I decided to do is make
35:22
a checklist for him with five easy
35:24
steps. If it's too m too many steps, it
35:27
may still be overwhelming for him.
35:29
However, a very good declutter, making
35:31
sure that we utilize a toy rotation
35:33
system, not buying and overfilling his
35:36
toy box in his room, and a checklist has
35:38
been what's been working for us. So,
35:41
basically, you can type it out, you can
35:43
write it out with a marker, or you can
35:45
have Chad GPT create a poster for you,
35:47
print it and laminate it, and put it on
35:49
the wall. We have a whiteboard in my
35:51
son's room. I could write it on there,
35:53
and it's pretty much what's been working
35:55
for him. Also, my son likes to collect
35:58
rocks and he puts them in the bathroom
36:00
so he can wash them and they pretty much
36:03
always stay in the bathroom and then I
36:05
have to toss them back outside. So, you
36:07
guys, that's what you guys saw me like
36:10
doing holding like a handful of rocks is
36:12
[music] because yeah, my son had his
36:15
newest pile of rocks that he washed and
36:18
abandoned and I returned [music] them to
36:20
nature where he got them from. However,
36:24
here is what we put on his checklist for
36:27
cleaning his bedroom. Number one is to
36:31
[music] pick up all the laundry off his
36:33
floor. Laundry and linen. So, any of the
36:36
clothing that he has tossed on the
36:37
floor, any bath towels he tossed on the
36:41
floor after getting out of the bath, any
36:43
extra covers, [music] things like that
36:45
from making forts, anything that might
36:47
end up on the floor linen wise, pick all
36:49
of that up and toss it in his laundry
36:51
basket is number one. So, number one,
36:53
pick up any clothing and linen. Number
36:57
two for his checklist is to pick up any
36:59
large toys. [music]
37:01
Number three on his checklist is to pick
37:05
up any small toys. Number four is to
37:07
pick up any trash or paper, anything
37:10
like that. And then number five is to
37:12
make up his bed. So, five easy steps is
37:14
what has pretty much been working for
37:18
him to follow. That way, if I walk in
37:21
the room and the room is not all the way
37:24
clean, I can ask him like, "Where did
37:26
you leave off? Which number step were
37:28
you [music] on?" And then he'll know
37:31
like where he went wrong, where he
37:33
should pick it back up at, and things
37:34
like that. It's [music] pretty much one
37:35
of those things where it helps him to
37:37
learn how to clean because I think that
37:40
we actually have to actually teach our
37:42
children how to clean. It's not
37:43
something that they just automatically
37:45
know. of course they see us doing it and
37:48
it's easy for them to learn that way.
37:50
However, again some good like
37:54
instructions [music]
37:54
for them. A few steps is also really
37:57
really great as well guys. So once we
38:00
are finished with cleaning the guest
38:02
bathroom, we are going to head right on
38:04
upstairs and we're going to clean that
38:05
bathroom. I always save cleaning the
38:07
bathrooms for last whenever I'm doing a
38:09
house clean because I hate cleaning the
38:12
bathrooms. I just it's the mindset
38:14
around it. I feel like they're so so
38:16
germy and I always just want to hop
38:18
right inside the shower as soon as I'm
38:22
done. And that's exactly what I did
38:24
[snorts] with our bathrooms here. The
38:28
bathroom downstairs, typically it's
38:30
normally not so bad to clean. However,
38:33
this time around, I felt like we had way
38:35
more [music] dust on like the walls, the
38:37
surfaces, and things like that that I
38:38
had to take care of. But upstairs, you
38:41
guys will see that that bathroom. It's
38:42
not as bad except for I guess maybe the
38:47
tub possibly, but you guys are going to
38:50
see. In the upstairs bathroom, I'm going
38:53
to again be wiping everything down,
38:55
cleaning the tub and everything. And
38:57
then I also have to run some jet cleaner
39:01
through the jetted tub as well and let
39:04
that run through for about 10 to 15
39:06
minutes. But when it comes to cleaning
39:08
the tubs, one thing that has made it a
39:11
lot [music] easier for me is having
39:13
those electric cleaning spin brushes.
39:15
And you guys, those would [music]
39:16
actually have been perfect for me
39:18
cleaning the walls as well. I don't know
39:21
why I didn't think to just grab it. It
39:24
comes with a bunch of different [music]
39:26
attachments. I literally could have
39:28
grabbed one of them, put like a
39:30
microfiber, they have like a microfiber
39:32
attachment, put it on there, spray on
39:34
the walls, and probably could have
39:36
cleaned the entire walls top to bottom
39:39
faster than it took me to clean them,
39:41
just the lower half of them with, you
39:43
know, my hands or with a towel. However,
39:47
we still managed to get the job done.
39:49
And I'm trying to be a little bit better
39:52
with with my complaining. Normally, I
39:56
don't actually enjoy doing a whole house
39:59
clean, you guys, but ever since I was
40:02
able to shorten it down to an hour or
40:04
less. I don't actually dread it anymore.
40:07
And I was only able to do that by
40:09
decluttering. So, I highly recommend
40:12
that if you typically dread like
40:16
cleaning your home, definitely try maybe
40:21
decluttering a bit and owning a bit less
40:24
because of course, the more things that
40:26
you have, the more you're going to have
40:28
to clean, the longer it's going to take.
40:31
And of course, [music]
40:32
if you don't enjoy cleaning, you are
40:35
definitely going to dread it. So when I
40:37
began decluttering, I just started the
40:41
[music] messiest area of the home and I
40:45
just kept on going until I was
40:47
satisfied. Before I started
40:48
decluttering, it maybe took me the
40:50
entire day to clean my home, but then I
40:52
was able to lessen it down to 3 hours to
40:55
2 hours. And I knew that for me, my cut
40:58
off was definitely an hour. I did not
41:00
want to be cleaning my home longer than
41:03
an hour on any given day. And [music]
41:06
like normally during the week, I'm
41:08
probably spending a few minutes here and
41:10
there just trying to stay on top of
41:12
things, while Saturdays are the days
41:14
that I don't mind doing a full like
41:17
house clean. Get up before the kids. We
41:19
don't have to homeschool or anything
41:21
like that. And as long as it only takes
41:23
me an hour, it's okay. I feel like I can
41:25
go ahead and just tackle it before the
41:28
[music] whole house wakes up. And it's
41:30
something that I have not really been
41:33
dreading. I have been enjoying, you
41:35
know, taking care of my home and giving
41:37
it a good refresh before the next and
41:40
upcoming week and at the end of a busy
41:42
week and things like that. So, [music]
41:44
you guys are probably going to be seeing
41:46
more of like home cleaning videos and
41:48
I'm going to even declutter a bit more
41:52
because you guys, why not challenge
41:54
myself and see if we can get this to
41:56
under 1 hour. I feel like that would be
41:59
so amazing, right? [music] to declutter
42:01
a bit more and only clean my entire home
42:04
within let's just go 40 minutes because
42:07
I don't want to be too ambitious here.
42:09
But we do have like an older home. We
42:12
have three [music] bedrooms and two
42:14
bathrooms here. Our basement and then
42:18
our basement just has the laundry room
42:20
and [music] a large like workout area.
42:24
Other than that, let's see. We have the
42:26
family room, the kitchen, and the living
42:29
room. So, that's all the rooms that I
42:32
have to clean. Um, and so I don't know,
42:35
maybe we can find a way to continue to
42:37
simplify. And as I always as I'm finding
42:40
ways to simplify [music] to simplify
42:42
life and homemaking, motherhood,
42:45
cleaning our homes, any area where I
42:47
feel like I can find [music] a way to
42:50
simplify it and make it easier, I'm
42:52
always going to be sharing it with you
42:54
guys because here on this channel, we
42:55
choose to work smarter, definitely not
42:59
harder. So, if you are interested in
43:01
seeing more videos and this is your
43:03
first time here and you love being able
43:07
to simplify your home a bit and slow
43:09
down, things are not perfect around
43:11
here. I don't have the most perfect
43:14
home. It's not always super spotless.
43:16
It's not super big. It's not even super
43:19
aesthetic. However, I love taking very
43:22
good care of my home and encouraging you
43:25
guys as well. We try to stay very
43:28
humble, very, very grateful, also very
43:31
realistic. So, you guys are going to see
43:32
me cleaning a tub that has hair in it
43:35
sometimes. And you guys are going to see
43:37
me cleaning, you know, [music] areas of
43:39
the home that's just not perfect because
43:41
I try to be as realistic as [music] I
43:44
can and not appear to be like super
43:46
perfect. What I'm saying is that if you
43:48
enjoyed this video and would like to see
43:50
more just like it, go ahead and give
43:52
this video a thumbs up and subscribe
43:54
because I would absolutely love to have
43:57
you here. And if you were cleaning right
44:00
alongside with me, comment down below.
44:03
Let me know what area of the home you
44:05
were cleaning. Say hello. I love to hear
44:08
from you guys. However, I think we're
44:10
pretty much going to sum it up here.
44:12
We're just about done. And this is the
44:14
last area of the home that I needed to
44:17
clean. So, thank you guys for hanging
44:19
out with me. I hope that I was able to
44:21
give you guys some encouragement and
44:23
motivation or just be a cleaning buddy
44:25
for you today. We're going to go ahead
44:27
and let some music or so play out for
44:30
the last few minutes of this video and
44:32
we're going to close out the last 5
44:35
minutes strong. Thank you guys for
44:38
watching and I [music] will see you guys
44:40
in the next video where I'm also going
44:42
to be doing a whole house declutter.
44:44

don't miss that too. Happy homemaking.
