Today I am going to be taking you guys
0:02
along for a minimal home tour because I
0:06
truly believe in both show and tell. And
0:09
I talk a lot about decluttering and
0:11
minimalism here on this channel. I felt
0:14
that it would be perfect for me to just
0:17
show you guys what our realistic minimal
0:21
home looks like as a family of four with
0:26
two little. We've been in this home for
0:28
4 years, so we have definitely had some
0:29
time to accumulate things inside of the
0:33
home. It's not going to be perfect. It's
0:35
not even going to be super clean. The
0:37
goal of this video is to be as realistic
0:39
as possible and just show you guys what
0:42
minimalism looks like. It's not what
0:44
everyone thinks it is. It's not just all
0:47
white everything, no home decor, nothing
0:50
on the walls, a home that doesn't look
0:53
lived in. This home is very much lived
0:55
in. It's loved and we have poured so
0:58
much love and care into it over the
1:00
years. So much that if you would have
1:03
seen this video a year or more ago, it
1:07
will look completely different because I
1:08
used to accumulate so much clutter. But
1:12
it is a lifelong journey I feel. And the
1:16
more you do it, the better you get at
1:18
it. I pursued minimalism and
1:21
decluttering my whole entire home about
1:23
2 years ago. And I am just learning more
1:27
and more ways to truly perfect it in a
1:30
way that our home feels so comfortable
1:33
and easy to manage. And I want that for
1:35
you all too. So maybe you're minimalism,
1:39
maybe you're not. Maybe you just want to
1:41
see what it could maybe look like
1:44
realistically so that it doesn't feel so
1:46
daunting, doesn't feel so scary. That is
1:50
the purpose of this video. So come on
1:52
in. So, welcome to the main area of our
1:56
home, which is our family room and
1:58
kitchen area. This is where we spend
2:01
time together as a family. And this is
2:03
also where we like to host our family
2:06
over whenever we have gatherings and
2:08
everything. It's right off the patio
2:10
door, so we can blow up the bounce house
2:13
for the kids, barbecue, and everything.
2:15
And that works out very well. As you can
2:17
see, it's not a ton of things in here.
2:20
But here on the left side of the home,
2:23
the left wall, we have our three-seater
2:26
recliner. The middle seat does fold down
2:28
to a console with a cup holder and some
2:30
USB ports. And then the two on the end
2:33
recines. And then we have a swivel
2:35
rocker reclining sofa here. This one we
2:38
often pull away from the wall and kind
2:40
of just, you know, put it where it's
2:42
most comfortable. But that's our seating
2:45
arrangement just right up against the
2:46
wall. I know some people say don't put
2:48
your furniture against the wall for like
2:51
looks and everything. But as far as
2:52
functionality and giving my kids actual
2:54
space to move about, this works best for
2:57
us. We have a very small little coffee
2:59
table. It's a lift top coffee table,
3:01
which is perfect if you want to hide
3:03
away some clutter because you can just
3:05
lift that table open and put your books
3:07
inside of there. I currently have a Good
3:10
and the Beautiful Bible study that I'm
3:11
working on there on the coffee table.
3:13
I'm still working on that this morning.
3:15
And then my husband also has two Bible
3:18
studies underneath there. And I have a
3:20
devotion. So that's our coffee table.
3:23
And then we have our blanket holder,
3:25
which I don't have any blankets on there
3:27
right now. And then we have two baby
3:30
pictures of my son and a little lamp. So
3:34
that's
3:36
what's all on this wall here. And then
3:38
the last piece of furniture we have is
3:40
our buffet table. I love this buffet
3:43
table because you can slide these doors.
3:46
You can just store any type of maybe
3:48
toys for the kids here. You can store
3:51
decor. But my favorite part are these
3:54
sliding barn doors that they have, which
3:57
allows me to hide away my husband and
4:00
son's PlayStation video game console,
4:04
their controller, and a couple of games.
4:06
So, it's perfect for that. We just
4:08
drilled a hole in the back and fed the
4:10
cords through there. And so that is very
4:14
convenient to have. As you can see, he
4:17
has like his drone down there and more
4:19
video game things there. So, it's
4:21
perfect for a family entertainment
4:24
system because you can hide away some of
4:26
those things so that it doesn't look too
4:28
cluttered. Up top here, I do have a box
4:31
because we are packing some things that
4:33
we need to ship elsewhere in there. And
4:35
then Easter just passed us a couple of
4:38
days ago. So these are just leftover
4:39
things from Easter. Some of the kids
4:42
Easter basket items. And then these are
4:44
some extra baskets that I'm thinking
4:47
will either toss or store away for next
4:49
year Easter. Up top here, I have a
4:53
candle that I have had for about going
4:55
on three years now. I've had this
4:57
candle. It's a pillar candle, so it
4:59
burns a long time. And then my husband
5:02
has his camera up there. We have a
5:04
little indoor ring camera and then our
5:07
home internet system there. My niece's
5:11
birthday is today. Tomorrow is my son's
5:12
birthday. So, we have a lot kind of
5:14
going on right here. My niece and sister
5:16
are going to visit. So, I just have a
5:18
couple of gifts here that's going to be
5:20
waiting for them. This is our clutter
5:22
basket. This basket is the basket that
5:26
mostly it's always the kids toys, but
5:28
any type of clutter, toys, anything that
5:31
accumulates in here and doesn't belong
5:34
in here typically goes inside of this
5:37
basket. And then at the end of the week,
5:40
I can grab this basket and go put
5:42
everything away at once. So, these toys
5:44
have been accumulating for the past four
5:47
weeks now. Yeah, I was supposed to, like
5:50
I said, do this at the end of the week
5:51
and I haven't. So, this is something
5:53
that I need to do, but honestly, it's
5:55
not too shabby for four weeks of clutter
5:58
to have accumulated in here. Just things
6:00
that need to get put away. And then a
6:02
couple more candles. I love to have a
6:05
good candle ready to light to set the
6:06
mood or when you have guests coming over
6:08
to really make the home nice and warm.
6:11
So, that is pretty much it in here for
6:14
the family room. We have a blind there.
6:18
wings are blaze. One of the blinds have
6:20
fallen off or fallen off is actually not
6:23
the accurate way to describe my daughter
6:24
pulling it off. The kids have a couple
6:26
of ride on and push toys that they love.
6:30
And we just keep them off to the side
6:31
here because they have enough space to
6:34
be able to actually play with them here
6:36
when it's too cold to go outside. So now
6:40
I'll take you guys inside of the
6:42
kitchen. Let's just start here on this
6:45
wall, which it's next to both the family
6:49
room and the kitchen. And you guys, yes,
6:51
like I said, it's not perfectly clean.
6:54
It's just messy, I guess, maybe. And I
6:57
still need to mop the floors. This is
6:59
just realistic, right? So, here's the
7:02
kitchenette area. Sometimes if we're
7:05
hosting like a dinner party, like an
7:07
intimate one with family, this little
7:10
dinner table here, we can actually like
7:12
open up the patio on a nice summer
7:14
evening and then set the table right
7:16
there in front of the patio door and
7:18
then we can kind of like host in this
7:21
setting here um where it's like a little
7:24
more space. But otherwise, this is our
7:26
little setup. Because it's only four of
7:28
us, my daughter has her high chair. We
7:31
just have three chairs out majority of
7:34
the time. Two tall back dinner chairs
7:37
and then my son has a higher like wooden
7:39
chair, but underneath we do have a
7:42
little bench. So if we have any guests
7:44
that ends up coming over, we slide the
7:46
table out a little bit and then utilize
7:48
that bench against the wall, which
7:51
actually just allows for an extra three
7:53
more people to sit at this table. And
7:56
then again, it's right here off of the
7:59
kitchen, which has,
8:02
as you can see, things on the counter.
8:05
And so, let's just take a little tour of
8:09
the kitchen. As far as appliances goes
8:11
in the kitchen, we have a air fryer. We
8:15
also have a microwave. We have a stove
8:17
with also an air fryer. So, is the air
8:21
fryer completely necessary? No. But does
8:23
my husband loves it? Absolutely. That
8:25
thing cooks beautiful. So, if you're in
8:27
the market for an air fryer, I recommend
8:30
this one. It's really good. My husband's
8:33
cast iron skillet, his grill items for
8:35
when he makes a good steak, which he did
8:37
a couple of days ago. We just need to
8:40
store it away. It is so so heavy. So,
8:44
don't mind it just sitting there on the
8:45
stove. But our coffee pot, the actual
8:49
pot itself is in the dishwasher. I took
8:52
this out so that you guys can really get
8:53
a look for at all the appliances that we
8:55
have. We have the Presto Fry Daddy deep
8:58
fryer. My husband loves his deep fryer.
9:01
Makes a really good batch of fries if
9:04
you're having like a fish fry or fish
9:06
and chips type thing, anything like
9:08
that. And then our blender stays out all
9:11
the time. So like we could put that
9:13
away, we'll put that away, we'll put
9:15
that away. Just showing you guys
9:17
everything that we have here. But this
9:19
stays out all the time. We use our
9:23
blender bottles every single day as well
9:25
as our blender because we use it after
9:28
like working out and things like that or
9:30
to have a smoothie, our protein shakes,
9:33
all of that stuff. So, we use our
9:34
blender every single day. Some wooden
9:37
cooking utensils. I just love to keep
9:40
like fresh flowers out in the
9:42
summertime. I'm grabbing them from out
9:44
of the garden weekly, but because it's
9:48
spring here and still pretty cold, there
9:51
are no flowers to harvest or to cut
9:55
from. So, we just have an empty wicker
9:58
vase here. We have two coffee kettles.
10:01
As you can see, mine is still pretty
10:03
warm. I'm going to just restart it cuz
10:05
after this video, I'm going to have
10:06
another glass of tea. And then this tea
10:08
maker here in the back, a little more
10:10
sleek. It's my husband's tea kettle. And
10:13
then we have our Neutra Bullet. So, do
10:16
we have multiple
10:18
blenders? Yes, this Neutra Bullet is
10:20
perfect for single serve, but if you
10:22
need something to make a larger batch,
10:25
then that Ninja Blender is perfect for
10:28
that reason. This is what I like to call
10:31
my clutter basket for the kitchen. If
10:33
you've been here a while, you've
10:34
probably heard me say, keep a clutter
10:36
basket in the rooms that are most lived
10:38
in and the rooms that generate the most
10:40
clutter. That's the basket that you go
10:42
through at the end of every week. That
10:44
way, you don't feel like you're
10:45
decluttering an entire house or an
10:46
entire room every single week or every
10:49
single month. You are decluttering a
10:52
basket. So, at the end of the week, if
10:54
you like, okay, I have to declutter. You
10:56
grab your clutter basket and you put
10:58
things where they go or toss it, throw
11:00
it away, donate it, do whatever you need
11:01
to do, that is normally the stuff that
11:03
just doesn't have a home inside of your
11:06
home or inside of that room that you
11:08
have your clutter basket in. So, it
11:10
either needs to go in another room or it
11:12
needs to leave the house completely. So,
11:15
clutter baskets are such a slept on tip,
11:19
and I just think everybody should keep
11:22
these cute little clutter baskets
11:23
because not only are they cute, they can
11:25
be decorative and everything, but
11:27
they're useful. So, this is my kitchen
11:28
clutter basket. I mentioned that my
11:30
son's birthday is tomorrow, so we are
11:33
planning a little gathering here for
11:35
him. We're going to have, you know, food
11:37
and desserts and things. So currently we
11:40
have lots of disposables here. Cups,
11:42
plates, utensils, pans for the grill,
11:46
different things like that. They don't
11:48
have a home. So this is where they are
11:50
right now. And then after the, you know,
11:52
party or event, we'll dispose of it and
11:55
have our clutter baskets back. We love a
11:58
glass of wine and a little dessert after
12:00
dinner sometimes throughout the week.
12:02
Our dessert for this week was either
12:04
cookie or cupcake, and my daughter
12:06
actually licked that one. So, there's
12:09
that. Other than that, I had to wash my
12:12
son's toothbrush cup, so has a home.
12:15
Definitely not in the kitchen. And the
12:18
high chair tabletop. I love that you can
12:22
just snap these onto the high chair and
12:25
then snap this whole thing off and wash
12:27
it. It just makes cleaning the high
12:28
chair so easy. It's so lightweight. It
12:30
can even go in the dishwasher. So,
12:32
there's that. My water bottle, my phone,
12:34
just little things that's just there for
12:36
now. And then up top here on the
12:38
shelves, I'll show you guys. I have my
12:40
tea right here that I've been drinking
12:42
throughout the week. I had some sinus
12:45
issues earlier this week. So, I was
12:48
keeping my tea just easy to grab.
12:50
Otherwise, it would be inside the
12:52
cabinet. And then up there, I have a
12:54
lavender and vanilla beeswax candle.
12:56
This has such a nice smell and such a
12:59
clean burn. And this is a candle from my
13:03
website, Hearth and Home Heritage
13:05
Company. hernomeheritage.com.
13:09
Definitely check it out. I would love
13:10
for you to see what we have over there.
13:13
But other than that, we have one little
13:15
piece of decor there. Up there, I have
13:17
another candle. That's my peppermint
13:19
one. And I have a jar of dried herbs
13:22
that we harvested from the garden last
13:25
summer. That's just what I have left
13:27
over. I use those dried herbs in my
13:29
peppermint hair oils, my peppermint
13:32
candles, and things like that. And these
13:34
are the ones that I had been using
13:36
around the kitchen. We just have the
13:37
filters for our water. And then some
13:41
hydration packets that I pretty much
13:43
grabbed throughout the day throughout
13:45
the week. So quick grab there. My
13:47
husband had purchased us roses for our
13:49
anniversary that just passed a couple of
13:50
weeks ago. So have a little vase up
13:53
there that's left over from that. Other
13:55
than that, that's typically
13:59
what the kitchen looks like except some
14:02
of these appliances that we sometimes
14:04
store away. And now I'm going to show
14:06
you guys the utensils, the dishes, and
14:09
everything. I've taken out everything
14:13
mostly from the cabinets, and I'll show
14:15
you what we own up there. We have some
14:17
aluminum foil and some parchment paper,
14:20
and then a couple of cups up there. and
14:22
my son went to the Mario movie and got a
14:24
cup, a Super Dad mug, a measuring glass,
14:27
and an extra protein cup. That's what
14:30
you guys see up there. Everything else I
14:32
have put out to show you guys what we
14:34
have. So, silverware, four tablespoons,
14:38
four teaspoons, four dinner spoons, and
14:41
four salad spoons. We have four butter
14:44
knives. My daughter has her little tiny
14:46
fork spoon and knife set, as well as a
14:48
couple of rubbers for when she was a
14:50
little bit younger.
14:52
Um, that's our dinner wear. In here we
14:56
have four
14:58
bowls, four salad plates in there. And
15:01
then I have two sections that go with
15:03
these two stainless steel kid plates or
15:06
toddler size. So both my daughter and
15:08
son use those. And when my daughter is
15:10
using it, we just put it on the suctions
15:12
on her high chair. I have a couple of
15:14
cups in here for the kids. But in here
15:18
we have four basic white dinner plates.
15:24
And typically there are four glasses up
15:27
top, dinner glasses, but one of them is
15:30
in the dishwasher. And then we have two
15:32
of these smaller like juice glasses.
15:35
These are really great for like orange
15:37
juice, cranberry juice, things like
15:39
that. So we have two of these.
15:42
And then we have two of these basic
15:44
little tea or coffee mugs. Again, my
15:48
husband and I are typically the only
15:49
people using those. Larger knives in
15:52
here. Some measuring spoons. We have
15:55
cooking utensils there, as well as the
15:57
ones up here on the countertop that I
15:59
showed you guys. Inside of here, we have
16:01
a couple of cookware. So, we have a
16:04
larger skillet, a mediumsiz skillet, as
16:07
well as a mediumsiz sauce pot. There we
16:12
have our cast iron as well. Lots of
16:14
water bottles, protein cups, neutra
16:16
bullet cups, and then we have more
16:20
cookware down here. So, we have bake
16:22
wear, our Faber wear cookie sheet, as
16:25
well as the two rectangular, these are
16:27
called like cake pans, but they're just
16:29
like your rectangular baking pans. And
16:32
then we have mixing bowls. We also have
16:34
cake pans in there. um cutting board,
16:38
some glass meal prep containers. We also
16:41
have two more bakeware dishes from the
16:44
Pioneer Woman collection, a smaller and
16:46
a bigger rectangular one. So, that's
16:50
all the dishes that we pretty much own
16:56
in our home. I'll show you guys the
16:59
cabinets pretty bare in here. We've got
17:03
some uh extra straw, some scissors, some
17:08
cabinet locks, a meat thermometer, and a
17:11
little lighter that we'll be using to
17:13
light the candles for my son's birthday
17:15
tomorrow. Everything has childproof
17:18
locks on it, but just giving you guys
17:22
It's hard to get in here a look at
17:25
everything.
17:28
So, you know,
17:31
I don't want you all to think I'm hiding
17:34
dishes or anything like that. It's all
17:37
just empty inside of there. So, I do
17:40
have a cake dish up top. If you are new
17:42
here, maybe you don't know our family,
17:44
we are snowbirds, which means that we
17:47
travel down south during the cold season
17:50
months. So, we are here half the year
17:52
and there half the year. So, the plan is
17:54
to also give you guys a minimal
17:56
apartment tour of our Florida apartment
17:58
as well. But here, if you're wondering
18:01
why everything is in storage containers
18:04
and things like that, it's because we
18:05
are getting ready to head back down
18:07
there for a bit. So, when we are
18:10
traveling, try to keep things neat,
18:12
tidy, um, stored away so that they're
18:15
just not here collecting dust. You know,
18:18
this is our good. It's not like super
18:19
expensive fine china. You know how some
18:22
people store their fine china away and
18:24
you know things like that? It's not like
18:27
that. This is just us trying to take
18:29
care of the things that we have instead
18:31
of just having it up there collecting
18:32
dust. We we try our best. We're not
18:34
perfect with it. Welcome to the living
18:37
room. This is the front end of our home
18:40
on the main living floor. In here, as
18:42
you can see, we have a little keyboard,
18:45
my son's guitar hanging there, and then
18:48
my husband, he has a guitar as well. His
18:51
is right there. The sofa that we have
18:53
had for five years now. And I don't
18:57
know, I still love it. It's still pretty
18:59
comfy. Maybe it's not the cutest, but
19:01
it's definitely comfy. I love it. Here
19:04
we have a little bulletin board that we
19:06
like to put things up for homeschool.
19:08
This is the area that we homeschool in.
19:10
This is probably one of the most
19:12
cluttered areas of our home. Lots of
19:14
court management that needs to be done.
19:17
And this is basically where my husband
19:19
and son, they like to hang out in this
19:20
little area. Um, I mean, it's kind of
19:23
it's definitely not like a man cave type
19:25
of thing, but it's definitely one of
19:27
those things where I don't I'm not super
19:29
persistent on it. I let them have their
19:31
fun. I let them do their thing in this
19:34
little corner of the home. The robot
19:38
vacuum is somewhere lost around the
19:40
home, but that is where we house the
19:42
robot vacuum. And right now we are
19:45
currently renovating the basement. So my
19:49
husband's working in here as well. So
19:51
what is typically my homeschool desk,
19:54
I've got all my calendars, all the good
19:56
stuff up there. It's currently my
19:57
husband's little work area. It's a
19:59
little bit messy right now, but we are
20:01
keeping things as real as we can. My
20:04
husband also does videography, so he's
20:06
got all his camera equipment, all types
20:09
of things there. I'm not going to get
20:11
too much in his business, but yeah, he's
20:13
got all his little work things there,
20:14
our alphabet chart. He has a little
20:17
whiteboard in his little desk cubby
20:20
there. More of my husband's work
20:22
equipment. And then on our desk here,
20:25
more books. We have books, books, books.
20:27
Books is not something that we are short
20:30
on. Um I'm not minimal when it comes to
20:33
books unless they're like torn up. I
20:35
think having a good library is
20:38
important. I think reading is
20:40
fundamental. So, we have some
20:42
curriculum, lots of different type of
20:44
books. We also have like puzzles and
20:45
things like that. Crayons, normally a
20:47
bit more neat, but not today. Over here
20:51
is where we definitely have some mess to
20:54
focus on today. I'm actually going to
20:56
take these blankets here to the laundry
20:58
room today. They are clean and folded.
21:02
There's a throw blanket in there and an
21:04
extra blanket that I have a couple of
21:07
travel bags there because we actually
21:09
have a flight um two days from now. We
21:12
are flying back down south. So, those
21:15
are the travel bags, my daughters and
21:17
mine that I need to pack. So, I have
21:20
them out. Otherwise, we have a wicker
21:22
basket that we like to keep homechool
21:24
extra homeschool supplies inside of this
21:26
little wicker storage ottoman here. As
21:30
you can see, the walls are not super
21:32
bare. And even though we don't have a
21:35
ton of stuff in here, it's not, I guess,
21:38
your average typical idea of what people
21:41
would expect or think when it comes to
21:43
minimalism. We are a homeschool family
21:46
and we love to keep our homeschool
21:48
manipulatives, our books, and things
21:50
like that. And my husband and son are
21:53
definitely video game lovers. So, that's
21:55
the best that I could describe this
21:57
room. Right off the garage door and
22:00
right above the basement is our guest
22:04
bathroom. We have like antiseptics in
22:07
here like peroxide, alcohol, lotion,
22:11
disinfectant wipes, moisturizers. One
22:13
really cool thing that we have in here
22:15
is this hand dryer, which when my
22:17
husband bought it, I thought it was so
22:19
weird, but it's a small little hand
22:20
dryer that, you know, when guests come
22:23
over, they can use that instead of all
22:25
utilizing the same towel, which to me,
22:29
it's actually a very sanitary option.
22:33
Otherwise, here we do have a little
22:35
toothbrush station for my son because
22:37
for some reason he picks where he wants
22:39
to brush his teeth upstairs, downstairs.
22:42
It doesn't bother me. If you guys want
22:44
to see what's in here, Q-tips, my
22:47
husband's hairbrush, nail clippers. In
22:49
here,
22:52
the trash bags for the bathroom, trash
22:55
cans, some baby wipes, and extra toilet
23:00
paper. It's inside of there. And then in
23:03
here, we have different like cleaning
23:05
utensils and everything. But you guys,
23:07
honestly, it's just just a guest
23:09
bathroom. Nothing too crazy. Now, we're
23:11
going to go upstairs. I'll show you guys
23:13
around. Up here to the very end of the
23:16
hallway and you turn to the left is the
23:20
master bedroom or my husband and I's
23:23
bedroom. It's only just slightly larger
23:25
than the other two rooms. So, calling it
23:27
a master bedroom, I feel like it's maybe
23:30
a stretch, but I'll go to this wall
23:34
first. And along this wall, we have a
23:37
very extra-L large air filter to try and
23:40
keep allergens under control. We have my
23:44
husband's dresser. This is the Ashley
23:47
furniture collection. It has the taller
23:51
dresser,
23:53
the shorter wide chest, as well as the
23:56
bookshelf to match. So, that's a
23:58
three-piece set. And then we have a
24:01
reading chair to sit in right next to
24:04
the bookshelf. On the top of the
24:06
dresser, we have a Google Home as well
24:08
as our home internet router. We have a
24:12
large humidifier. Two candles that I'm
24:15
trying to phase out. We have had these
24:18
candles for quite some time. One was
24:20
gifted to me for my birthday and then
24:23
another was gifted to us when we had
24:25
family over for Thanksgiving. So, we've
24:27
had some for quite some time. And then
24:30
my jewelry box I've also had forever.
24:33
You have necklace, earrings, rings,
24:36
bracelets, watch all inside of this one
24:39
little jewelry box here. And so it's
24:42
pretty cool. Simple, basic, and gets the
24:45
job done. Now, on top here, I do have a
24:49
couple things that I want to remember to
24:51
pack. I wanted to remember to bring my
24:53
son's allergy vitamins from Ganaxa and a
24:57
couple of earbs for my earrings that for
24:59
some reason I always lose them in the
25:01
shower. So, just keeping them out in the
25:03
open where I can remember. But on the
25:06
bookshelf, I keep all of my favorite
25:09
motherhood and parenting and homeschool
25:12
books. Right at the top here is where I
25:14
typically keep my favorite Bible
25:17
studies, which I actually have a huge
25:21
collection from the Daily Race Company,
25:22
but I ended up shipping them down south
25:25
as well. And then here on this shelf, I
25:28
keep some of my favorite devotionals as
25:31
well as some of my favorite just like
25:33
regular reading books. Half of my entire
25:36
bookshelf is in Florida. And then down
25:39
there I keep workbooks, business books,
25:42
content creation books, productivity
25:44
books, and then planners down there. So
25:48
that's my little bookshelf. This is my
25:50
husband's little corner of the dresser.
25:53
So up here is my mess, my jewelry box,
25:57
my candles, and then this is my
25:59
husband's. His definitely looks a lot
26:01
more tidy. I just keep his little game
26:05
controllers and things in a little
26:06
basket. And then he has his Switch like
26:10
chargers for his Switch, the games that
26:13
he plays with my son. And then
26:17
there is my dresser. Bedding is on this
26:20
back wall here. It's so basic and
26:23
simple. We don't have a ton of pillows,
26:25
anything cute, decorative. Our pillows
26:27
barely even match. We just get what
26:31
works best for us, what we find to be
26:32
comfortable. We have our little blankets
26:35
on top and then we each keep a little
26:38
shelf high up from the kids where we
26:41
keep things we don't want them to get to
26:43
like hand sanitizer for my husband. And
26:45
then I keep essential oil and a water
26:48
bottle up top for my tiny desk
26:50
humidifier as well as a couple of things
26:53
up here that I was gifted from the kids.
26:55
My watch charging all of my cords for
26:58
work here. My laptop on my nightstand. I
27:01
always keep a good read. I love to read.
27:03
There's always going to be a couple of
27:04
books on my night shelf. And then I also
27:06
have some Kleenex because I've been
27:08
dealing with some sinuses lately. Lots
27:10
of sinus pressure. That's just a thing
27:12
here up north for me. And then on my
27:15
desk, I love to be able to just keep an
27:17
oldfashioned alarm clock. I prefer to if
27:20
I have to wake up like with an alarm, I
27:23
prefer to do so with an alarm clock so
27:25
that I don't necessarily have to pick up
27:26
my phone as soon as I wake up in the
27:28
morning. And I also use this to be able
27:30
to keep a grasp on what time it is
27:32
throughout the day. Just another way to
27:35
not always have to have my phone on me,
27:37
but I do have like my camera bundle case
27:40
there to keep all my little camera
27:42
things for the camera that I'm currently
27:43
using. My desk humidifier and essential
27:46
oil diffuser. A cute little minimal
27:48
plant there. And then here I keep pins
27:51
that I like to be able to access
27:53
quickly. Lip balm. Um, I have some gum
27:56
that I want to remember to pack for our
27:58
flight that I have here. Like my little
28:00
headphones that I grab and listen to
28:02
when I'm either working. I use these.
28:05
When I'm working out, I use these ones
28:06
because they go to my Galaxy. And then
28:09
this one goes to like my iPhone, my
28:11
MacBook. But yeah, I just keep quick
28:14
graband go electronics and portable
28:16
devices there. And then this here is my
28:20
Mango body butter by my own familyowned
28:24
business. It is her and home heritage.
28:26
Mango is definitely my favorite. It's
28:29
completely natural, just mango essential
28:31
oil with organic shea butter and coconut
28:34
oil. It has such a light scent that it
28:36
does not bother my husband whenever I
28:38
use some of my Bath & Body Works
28:39
products. He just doesn't like how
28:41
strongly scented they are. You can smell
28:43
it in the whole room, but that I can put
28:45
on at night, in the morning, throughout
28:47
the day, and the scent is so light and
28:50
it's just such a good moisturizer. So, I
28:52
just keep it out. And then I have here
28:57
inside of my desk, I'll show you guys. I
29:00
have highlighters, sticky notes, my
29:02
little book stuff. So, I have my reading
29:04
glasses, my reading light, a couple of
29:07
bookmarks, an extra phone case that I
29:10
really think I can get rid of. I think
29:13
these are prenatal vitamins. I still
29:14
take them because I'm breastfeeding. And
29:17
then I have my little journal for if I
29:19
have to quickly jot down anything. And
29:21
then some personal things hidden under
29:23
there so that the world cannot see it.
29:27
But very basic here. And then on the
29:32
wall, the decor we went with is live for
29:34
the moment you can't put into words. I
29:38
absolutely love it. It's beautiful,
29:41
meaningful, and minimal. Then in the
29:43
closet here, here's an extra dresser. In
29:46
the bottom, I keep warmies, which are I
29:48
don't know if you guys know what wies
29:50
are. They are these lavender stuffies.
29:54
They're stuffed with dried lavender. I
29:56
got the slippers for my tired feet. You
29:59
warm it and so soothing. I have the
30:02
stuffies,
30:04
the neck wraps, and I have a heating pad
30:06
as well as a little throw that my mommy
30:09
gifted me. So, I keep stuff like that in
30:12
here. And then my husband who also takes
30:15
um jiu-jitsu classes, he keeps some of
30:16
his jiu-jitsu training clothing in here
30:19
as well as like his extra like work
30:22
clothes in here. And then um that's all
30:25
of like my favorite more from my from
30:30
the Disney princess collection. We are a
30:32
Disney loving family. So I have like
30:34
some of these in Florida and some here.
30:36
Moana and Ariel are here. Always love a
30:39
good Palmer's.
30:41
I have had this one since I was
30:43
pregnant, so I still use that. And then
30:46
some spray on Vaseline for when you're
30:49
busy and on the go. Also have this since
30:51
when I was pregnant because it just took
30:54
forever. It just took forever. Um,
30:58
and then this is a very light body mist
31:01
from Costco. It's a good brand, Nutrius.
31:05
And then I have a lot of my different
31:07
vitamins that I have to take that I
31:09
typically take up here in my room, which
31:11
are like my um potassium, iron, vitamin
31:16
C, things like that. Vitamin D all up
31:19
here. Some extra sunglasses in here. Um
31:23
you know, just little basic things
31:25
there. And then up top there, we keep um
31:29
some storage up here. couple of storage
31:33
containers as well as our important
31:36
document container, my husband's
31:38
firearm. And those storage containers
31:41
are empty. Um, laundry basket. And then
31:46
in here we have way too many hangers,
31:50
belts,
31:54
um,
31:55
purse holder or organizer,
31:58
our winter jackets
32:02
back here, everything that I'm hiding
32:04
for my son's 7th birthday party. And
32:07
then an extra set of blankets. We keep
32:10
an extra set of blankets for every
32:12
single bedroom, for each room. You never
32:15
know when it's just so much easier to
32:17
have one extra set on hand in case you
32:19
ever need to quickly switch out your
32:21
bedding. So, each room has an extra set
32:23
of bedding.
32:26
So, there it is. Our nightstands.
32:30
Nothing too crazy, very basic. I love to
32:33
keep a fan in the room. That's pretty
32:37
much it. In here, the right of the end
32:40
of the hallway is my daughter's nursery.
32:43
We have a air filter in every bedroom.
32:47
And then my daughter's diaper genie.
32:49
She's still in diapers. Here we keep
32:51
quick grab diapers and wipes and a noise
32:54
machine. Her changing table. Her little
32:58
reclining chair or nursing chair that
33:02
rocks and glides with a couple of baby
33:05
books there. There's her bedroom's extra
33:08
set of blankets. We'll come back to
33:11
that. Here's her crib. I kind of keep
33:14
these hanging up. So, when I lay her in
33:16
there, I either remove them or just
33:18
throw one on top of her. Sometimes she
33:21
sits, sometimes she sleeps when we're
33:23
here. But I keep this little nursing
33:25
boppy pillow because again, we're still
33:27
nursing and breastfeeding. And sometimes
33:29
when she is laying, she likes to be
33:31
propped up on there. But if I am laying
33:34
her this way, sometimes I'll lay her
33:36
into here instead. She is almost two, so
33:40
it's not, you know, like super unsafe.
33:44
She's moving around as much as she can
33:46
when she's just sitting in here. Like if
33:48
I need to shower, this little baby
33:50
Einstein thing, which is so easy to just
33:53
pull it off, it'll keep her busy. So, I
33:58
have that just to keep her busy. And
34:00
then her little age trackers. And I
34:04
forget what we call those, but she is
34:06
currently 21 months.
34:10
So, there's that. She has some little
34:13
butterflies over her crib. And then both
34:16
my daughter and my son have these from
34:20
when they were born, little keepsake
34:22
shadow boxes. She also has a mirror high
34:26
up over the changing table and that
34:28
says, "Let your faith be bigger than the
34:30
mountains." Up top we keep the rain
34:34
camera so that we can see her when she
34:36
is in here. And then this is her bed
34:39
that she will transition to once she
34:41
grows out of her crib. It's perfect to
34:43
have it in here now because she can grow
34:46
with it. So when she leaves the crib,
34:48
she can move over to the queen-siz bed
34:51
in which not only can we use this bed
34:53
since she was an infant to pull
34:56
allnighters with her when we're having
34:59
one of those nights where she just wants
35:01
someone in the room with her. I have
35:03
these extra sets of covers out because
35:06
my mother-in-law may or may not be
35:09
visiting in 2 days. My daughter will
35:11
just sleep with us and my mom-in-law
35:13
will sleep here. we will just change put
35:16
the extra set of covers on the bed
35:17
quickly and yeah it'll be a quick
35:20
transition. So that's why I have those
35:22
out. I have a breast pump back there
35:24
because I really want to try to see if I
35:27
can get some milk stored because I'm
35:29
beginning to get into the phase of
35:32
weaning her since she is almost 24
35:34
months. The way that I plan to do that
35:36
is to transition her for the last month
35:40
to trying to take breast milk just from
35:42
a cup and then start mixing it with
35:45
almond milk before she switches
35:46
completely to almond milk. And then
35:49
yeah, just books in here. Her laundry
35:51
basket. Although she's too big for this
35:55
little thing, she still likes to like
35:56
just sit in it because it rocks and
35:59
vibrates. But you can also switch it to
36:01
be just a chair. And she actually likes
36:03
to sit in that chair when she's like
36:05
reading her books and things. And then
36:07
we have a extra diaper station there
36:10
with diapers, warm wipes, baby diaper
36:13
rash cream, things like that. A tiny
36:15
little essential oil humidifier,
36:19
her hair products, little books, little
36:22
baby toys. That's all on this little
36:25
shelf. And then normally she has a ton
36:27
of bows up there, but we have a lot of
36:29
them down south. And then we are getting
36:33
ready to pack this diaper bag for travel
36:36
as well. In her little closet here, it
36:38
definitely needs some work that I will
36:42
take care of when we get back this
36:44
summer. She has shoes that are now too
36:46
tiny for her down there. A basket of
36:49
toys that she sort of plays with and
36:51
sort of doesn't. So, it may or may not
36:54
be donated. We have her baby bathtub in
36:58
here, some baby bath products, her
37:01
little hair shampoo cup, her hair
37:04
shampoo, like the cover that you put
37:06
around their head so it doesn't get into
37:08
their eyes. Just little things like
37:09
that. Two dresses that are way too
37:12
adorable that I didn't want to give up.
37:13
So, instead of donating them, I'm going
37:15
to put them away just in case we have a
37:17
future baby. some dresses that she can
37:20
currently fit both long sleeve
37:23
and short sleeve and sleeveless as well
37:28
as coats because we are still in that
37:31
season. So, a lighter one that she
37:33
actually traveled here in and then a
37:36
thicker one there. I will use these from
37:38
baby to baby if I can. It says welcome
37:40
to the world. It's a neutral color that
37:43
I can bring home all of my babies in
37:45
from the hospital. And then this is the
37:47
little baby sleeps sack that I can also
37:50
reuse. I don't keep or hold on to every
37:53
little keepsake, but these their shadow
37:56
boxes are like these are it for me. Um
38:00
up there I have nursing pads. And then I
38:02
also have diapers right now for baby
38:05
girl, which as you can see soon we're
38:07
going to have to restock diapers. A bin
38:09
just full of extra hangers. We have
38:11
shopping cart covers in there for when
38:13
we go to the grocery stores. And she
38:15
actually in here, you guys, has little
38:18
puppets, which are cute, and my husband
38:20
got her that. So, that's what's in that
38:22
basket. But that pretty much sums up my
38:26
daughter's room. I didn't show you guys
38:29
what's in pretty much any of our
38:31
drawers. These ones, like you guys, we
38:33
just don't have a ton of stuff. So, you
38:36
know, like in here, she has a few cloths
38:38
and things, bibs, a couple pairs of
38:41
tights or leggings, some socks in here.
38:44
She has a bin of laundry there that I
38:46
need to wash and put away, but onesies,
38:50
shirts, and pants or shorts. And then
38:53
she just has a bunch of receiving
38:55
blankets and boppy covers in here that
38:58
we don't need cuz she's grown out of
39:00
that now. So you guys, yeah, the fact of
39:02
the matter is with us being snowbirds,
39:05
we are pretty much here for half the
39:07
year and in Florida for half the year.
39:09
So when it comes to clothing and things,
39:11
I don't want to misrepresent. We do have
39:14
more clothes than what you guys see.
39:16
It's just that half of our wardrobe is
39:17
here and the other half of our wardrobe
39:19
is in Florida. That way we don't have to
39:22
like pack clothes every time we're
39:24
traveling from home to home because we
39:27
visit throughout the year and then we
39:29
like kind of live in one spot, you know,
39:31
for six to seven months straight in each
39:33
place. The kids, they grow so fast. So
39:38
in their room they very much just don't
39:42
have a lot because they every single
39:45
time we come back like they grow in a
39:47
six month span you know. So we have been
39:51
down south for the entire fall and
39:53
winter. So coming back here in the
39:56
spring, they pretty much need a whole
39:58
new wardrobe or we'll be bringing back
40:00
things from Florida because otherwise
40:02
once we go back, the chances of them
40:04
having grown out of their clothes are
40:06
very likely. For my husband and I, it's
40:08
not the same. We don't grow out of our
40:10
clothes. But with the children, if we
40:12
just leave their clothes there and say
40:14
when we get back, they'll have it.
40:16
That's great for when we're visiting.
40:18
But as far as like being somewhere for a
40:22
full 6 months when we go back, majority
40:24
of their things are going to be too
40:25
small for them. So, it's something
40:26
tricky that we're still trying to get
40:28
the hang of. But for the most part, we
40:31
still don't keep a lot of clothing. I do
40:33
have way more clothing in Florida than I
40:35
do here because I leave and go out more
40:37
there. So, once we get there, I'll do a
40:40
minimal apartment tour and give you guys
40:42
an idea of some of the things that we
40:44
keep, you know, there. Just wanted to
40:47
say that quick little disclaimer. I
40:49
don't want you guys to think like I'm
40:52
being dishonest here or anything like
40:53
that because yeah, we typically have a
40:55
few more things stocked in the drawers,
40:57
the dressers, things like that.
40:59
Nevertheless, the home is still very
41:01
much lived in. We didn't pack any of our
41:03
furniture. We had like one suitcase of
41:05
clothes for all of us combined. We
41:08
didn't pack any dishes, decor, none of
41:10
that. We, you know, left everything as
41:13
is. So what you're seeing is how our
41:16
home is lived in for the time that we
41:19
are here. We just began doing that this
41:22
year. Before that, this was our home all
41:26
of the year. We own our home here up
41:28
north and then we rent our home down
41:31
south for now until we can get an idea
41:34
of how we want to do things since this
41:36
is just our first year. Next, I'll show
41:38
you guys my son's room, which is at the
41:40
very end of the hallway and our
41:42
bathroom. At the end of the upstairs
41:45
hallway, is my son's room. He is seven.
41:49
And this is also where he and my
41:53
daughter often play together. In here,
41:56
it's typically the messiest room. He's
41:58
got both some cool lights, some warm
42:01
light. All of our rooms have both cool
42:04
and warm lights, just depending on what
42:06
we're going for. for the season, the
42:08
time of day. And I think that light
42:11
therapy, it's very cool. Soon as you
42:14
come in there on this wall, we have a
42:18
couple of wall shelves because when he
42:20
was younger, we liked to keep things
42:22
higher up that we don't typically like
42:25
for him to have access to. So, we have
42:28
his baby newborn picture as well as his
42:33
cross necklace here.
42:36
And then he also has a baby monitor
42:40
Disney castle as well as the Pirates of
42:43
the Caribbean model. I think both those
42:46
models he got from Disney World one
42:48
year. The back wall is actually where
42:51
his window is. And we go back and forth
42:53
between having his bed up against that
42:57
wall or this wall because either way
42:59
it's going to be next to the window. I
43:02
found this way to be best during the
43:05
winter because when it's up against that
43:09
wall there, the wall is pretty cold in
43:12
the winter time. And so if he lays up
43:14
against it, you know, it's kind of cold.
43:16
But this way, the headboard is up
43:19
against the wall versus him being
43:21
colder. Once he's older, we'll probably
43:24
just put the bed in the middle of the
43:26
wall. But he has been in the same bed
43:29
since he was three. And we've always
43:32
kept it against the wall so that he can
43:34
sleep closer to the wall versus falling
43:37
over. We used to have a railing there,
43:39
but he's seven now. I don't necessarily
43:41
think he needs to be against the wall,
43:44
but this is just currently how it's been
43:47
for now. Also, on this wall, he has a
43:49
large filter. He has allergies, probably
43:53
worse than me when it comes to airborne
43:56
allergies. I have bad like pet
43:59
allergies, dustmite. He's allergic to
44:01
like seasonal allergies. Large air
44:05
filter for him as well. His nightstand.
44:08
And then we have a cube storage shelf
44:12
for some of his little manipulatives and
44:14
lots of books. Books is something that
44:17
we aren't extremely minimal about. We
44:19
get rid of books that we just no longer
44:21
read or books that are kind of tearing
44:24
apart. But other than that, I think that
44:28
having a good library is just so so nice
44:33
for our kids, our grandkids, our future
44:36
kids. Just I remember when I was young
44:38
and I used to go over my sister's
44:40
grandparents house and they had just the
44:42
most beautiful library that I would just
44:44
go sit in and read and I was just a
44:46
little girl. I just would love to also
44:47
be able to build up a good library to
44:49
one day have for my grandchildren as
44:52
well. So, all of the books, you'll
44:55
always see plenty of those. Here, he
44:58
keeps travel toys in there. He keeps his
45:01
railroad tracks in here. More little
45:04
wooden toys. We like to keep like wooden
45:06
pretend play toys and things like that.
45:08
Good quality. And then in here, he just
45:11
has a ton more books. And these are like
45:14
books for like learning and Bob's books,
45:17
things like that. on his nightstand. He
45:19
has his video games that he plays with
45:21
his father, his Little Tikes story
45:23
reader, his sound machine, and his
45:26
nightlights. We do allow him and his
45:28
sister to watch television in here
45:29
sometimes when my husband and I are
45:31
hanging out and we want to watch a
45:33
grownup show. Right now, we are watching
45:36
The Voice, Next Level Chef, right now,
45:39
Survivor, things that the kids don't
45:41
want to watch. So, sometimes we let them
45:43
watch television. When we have screen
45:45
time, we let them have a little screen
45:46
time, too. He has been in this bed since
45:49
he was three years old. Has his shadow
45:53
box here, just like my daughter's shadow
45:56
box in her room from when we had him.
45:59
This is actually a 3D model that him and
46:01
my husband built together. It's like a
46:03
Paw Patrol 3D model. They kind of just
46:06
printed and built these together. Put
46:08
the pieces together, the screws and
46:10
everything, but it has like a little
46:11
elevator slide, a little lookout tower
46:15
that kind of just rotates around. Here
46:18
is his pretend play fire station. It
46:21
opens up really large. And then he has
46:25
his fire truck to go along with that.
46:28
there. His whiteboard over here with
46:31
some of his swim ribbons for all the
46:33
different levels that he completed with
46:35
swim class and everything. His bedtime
46:39
and morning checklist. He's got a large
46:41
bin of plastic railroad tracks that we
46:44
haven't decided if we're keeping yet. An
46:46
easy bake oven. So random. Couple of
46:48
things hanging up in the closet there. A
46:52
little blanket that he's had since he
46:55
was a baby. These little things has um
46:58
coin bank is back there. We keep little
47:01
medicines, thermometer, things like that
47:03
in here. Some bath time stuff in there.
47:06
So, he has like a bath toy.
47:09
My daughter is right here sneezing. He
47:11
has like a bath toy, bath lotion, number
47:14
blocks that we actually use the number
47:16
blocks during math. He printed a bunch
47:19
of these with my husband as well. Little
47:21
rocket ship Legos in here. And this is
47:25
actually a travel potty. We never used
47:27
it when we were potty training him, but
47:30
I figured we'll keep it. We travel often
47:31
and we might need it when we began
47:33
traveling my daughter. And then a couple
47:35
of clothes that I want to take to church
47:37
and put it on the Friendsgiving table.
47:39
They're nice outfits. Like this is a
47:41
Marvel Adidas set. This is an Adidas
47:44
set. It's a nice Levi jeans and Nike
47:46
hat. So that's pretty much here um in
47:50
his room. This is the bathroom, which is
47:52
soon as you come up the stairs to the
47:54
right of the hallway. It's nothing
47:56
crazy,
47:58
just a bathroom.
48:05
I keep wax things up there and I keep
48:09
facial products there. All right, you
48:12
guys, that sums up today's minimal home
48:14
tour. I hope that it gave you guys a
48:16
different perspective on minimalism and
48:19
how realistically it looks. It's not
48:22
about having everything clear, all of
48:25
your surfaces, all of your walls. The
48:27
main thing about minimalism is having
48:30
the minimal amount of things that you
48:33
can manage in your current season of
48:35
life. not over consuming and having more
48:39
things than you need and just filling
48:42
your home with the things that are truly
48:44
important to you, things that you
48:45
really, really love and things that you
48:47
feel are beautiful and makes your life
48:50
easier and more functional. If you were
