I didn't realize how exhausted I was
0:03
until I stopped trying to keep up. For a
0:07
long time, I felt like I was constantly
0:10
behind on cleaning, laundry, behind on
0:14
the kind of mom that I thought I should
0:16
be and even more the kind of mom that I
0:20
wanted to be. I would wake up already
0:23
overwhelmed, looking around my home,
0:25
thinking, "How did it get messy again?"
0:28
And the truth is that it wasn't just
0:32
that my home felt chaotic. It was that
0:35
my mind and my rhythm and my
0:38
expectations were overwhelming.
0:42
I thought the answer was to try harder,
0:45
to be more productive, to finally get it
0:48
together. But what I actually needed was
0:51
to slow down. If you have been feeling
0:53
overwhelmed in your home, like no matter
0:56
how much you clean, it's never enough. I
1:00
want to share with you what changed for
1:02
me. Definitely not overnight or
1:05
perfectly. This is like a long call type
1:09
of way that actually brought peace back
1:14
into my home. And I hope that by the end
1:17
of this video, it will help you to feel
1:20
lighter as well. and maybe even be
1:23
helpful for you, too. There was a moment
1:25
that I remember so clearly just standing
1:28
in the middle of my kitchen. There were
1:30
like dishes piling up in the sink. There
1:32
were so many loads of laundry that
1:34
needed to be folded, toys everywhere
1:37
that needed to be decluttered. And I
1:40
just felt so done. Like, not angry, but
1:43
just tired. Not with frustration or
1:47
anything, just tired.
1:51
Trying to keep up with a standard that
1:53
didn't even fit my life is one of the
1:56
things that made me the most tired. And
1:59
I just was tired of feeling like I was
2:01
always failing in my own home with
2:04
expectations that weren't even mine. And
2:08
I had this quiet thought.
2:12
What if I stopped trying to keep up and
2:15
started living differently? Different
2:18
from how the world is expecting me to
2:21
live. Different from every other person
2:24
that I see that is always on the go,
2:27
always on the move, setting these
2:28
unrealistic expectations and struggling
2:31
to keep up. I didn't realize how much I
2:35
was being influenced by what I was
2:37
seeing every single day. Perfect homes,
2:41
perfect routines, perfect systems. And
2:43
even if I wasn't consciously comparing,
2:47
I was still trying to measure up. Even
2:51
in my content creation, sometimes a slow
2:56
day like the one that you guys are
2:58
seeing in this video just didn't feel
3:00
like enough when compared to all of the
3:03
get it done with me videos that I often
3:06
see on YouTube. But I'm realizing that
3:10
even I didn't want to keep up with that
3:12
narrative. So why would I want to
3:15
encourage anyone else or you two?
3:18
Instead, I am wanting to encourage you
3:22
and show you what just real life and
3:27
slowing down looks like and how calming
3:30
and peaceful and healing it can be. Just
3:35
opening up the windows, folding laundry,
3:38
Bible study, these are all normal
3:41
things. You don't have to have a whole
3:43
house clean every single time. You want
3:46
to give your home a refresh. Sometimes
3:48
it looks like just resetting one space
3:51
or resetting your mind and your heart
3:56
instead of trying to keep up.
4:00
So
4:04
instead of comparison now, which made me
4:07
rush everything and feel behind all the
4:10
time and made my home feel like a
4:12
checklist instead of a place to live, I
4:16
learned that a peaceful home just does
4:18
not come from doing more. It comes from
4:20
doing things differently.
4:23
So when I say I started living slower, I
4:27
don't mean I stopped cleaning or taking
4:31
care of my home, I just changed how I
4:34
approached it. I stopped rushing through
4:37
everything and started doing one thing
4:39
at a time. Instead of thinking I have to
4:42
clean the whole entire house, I started
4:45
thinking I'm just going to reset this
4:47
one space. And all of a sudden, my home
4:51
didn't feel like a burden anymore. It
4:53
just started to feel manageable,
4:56
realistic, and actually quite peaceful.
5:00
So, I'm going to share with you guys
5:02
just a few things that has really helped
5:05
me. The first is small resets instead of
5:10
full cleans. I stopped waiting for the
5:13
perfect time to clean everything because
5:17
just that thought alone can be
5:19
overwhelming. Even if you have four
5:22
rooms in your home, thinking of cleaning
5:25
the entire home versus resetting one
5:28
space, like the laundry, can be quite
5:32
overwhelming. So, I wanted to just reset
5:35
what I could when I could, especially as
5:37
a mom of little.
5:40
The second thing that really helped me
5:42
is to declutter. Less stuff is less
5:47
stress. It's less to manage and less
5:51
overwhelm. I talk so much about
5:53
decluttering and how freeing it is, so
5:56
I'll link a playlist down below. The
5:59
third thing that really helped me is
6:01
letting go of unrealistic expectations
6:04
because my home doesn't need to look
6:07
perfect. It just needs to work for my
6:11
family. And as a content creator, that
6:14
one really hit home for me because I'm
6:16
always trying to come up with systems
6:18
that works for not just my family, but
6:22
for other families, too. The ones that I
6:25
am trying to reach out to here on
6:27
YouTube. And in doing so, I realized
6:30
that not only am I forgetting to just
6:34
check in on what is working here in my
6:38
home and right now, which can often
6:41
change. But also,
6:44
I forget to just tell you guys sometimes
6:48
that it's okay to just do what works for
6:51
you. You don't have to do what you see
6:53
me or anybody else doing. I think it's
6:57
time for a change.
7:01
The fourth thing that has helped me is
7:02
to slow down on purpose. I chose slow
7:05
living, something else I talk about on
7:07
this channel. Even if everything isn't
7:10
done, I don't rush through my day
7:12
anymore. And honestly, that changed the
7:15
atmosphere in my home more than
7:18
anything.
7:20
In this video, you may be wondering,
7:22
where are my children? I have two
7:25
littles, a seven-year-old and a
7:26
two-year-old, and I have learned to kind
7:30
of just do things when it's best
7:33
suitable for me. So, I utilize nap time,
7:37
waking up a little bit earlier than my
7:39
kids, setting a quiet time. I've even
7:42
found an evening routine where I just
7:45
like to sip my tea. I listen to podcasts
7:48
and light a candle in the shower.
7:50
There's so many ways that you can pursue
7:52
slow living even if you have children.
7:55
And I know that there isn't a lot going
7:57
on in this video. And you know, that's
7:59
kind of the purpose of slow living.
8:01
Sometimes it's just slow. But you guys,
8:06
I feel like it's also very calming, you
8:09
know, to just hear the sound of the
8:11
things that's going on right outside
8:13
your walls and to just be able to listen
8:15
to the wind blowing through the trees,
8:17
the kids laughter when they get out of
8:20
school, that fresh air coming in. And
8:22
when you're so overwhelmed and your day
8:25
is so chaotic and cool, sometimes we
8:27
just miss the little things like the
8:29
sunset. It's just so many beauties in
8:33
life that we miss out on when we are
8:35
living a fastpaced
8:38
life.
8:40
So for me, it wasn't just about cleaning
8:44
less, but about living different,
8:46
letting go of pressure, letting go of
8:48
comparison, letting go of the constant
8:50
need to keep up, and choosing peace
8:52
instead. Choosing to take care of my
8:55
family, but also take care of me, too.
8:59
and doing that through Bible study,
9:01
fitness, working out, nice long hot
9:04
showers. This is all attainable even if
9:06
you have kids. So, if your home feels
9:09
overwhelming right now, you don't need
9:11
to fix everything today. You don't need
9:13
a perfect routine. You don't need to
9:15
catch up. You can just start small. One
9:18
space, one reset, one slower moment at a
9:22
time. If this video resonated with you,
9:24
I'd love for you to comment. I'm
9:26
choosing slow. And of course, don't
9:29
forget to subscribe if you want more
9:31

9:33

9:36

differently. Thank you guys for
9:42
watching, and I will see you guys in the

next one. Happy homemaking.
