The thing that you're doing right now is the thing that's going to make you feel good, and it's going to make you transform
0:05
So let's go. That voice right there has helped change hundreds of thousands, probably millions, millions of lives have been changed by the direction of that person behind that voice
0:21
As important as we find religion to be to ourselves, as important as we find finances to be to ourselves, there's nothing more important than your health
0:35
Your physical, your spiritual, your mental, your health. None of those things will matter if those things, if these things aren't aligned
0:42
And I remember when I first saw this man who's a guest on our show today. and one of the things that appealed to me
0:48
having grown up running track is the energy that this man brought to his product
0:55
It wasn't just about, he had to find a language to make people want to get up off the couch
1:00
You know, he had to find a language to make people want to eat and put something different in their body
1:05
that was nurturing. And one of the ways he did that was through this culture of hip hop
1:10
Salute to this man for finding a way to utilize this culture to help us improve who we are as individuals
1:16
You know, some of these iconic programs that he put together. Insanity, Hip Hop Abs, Trans420
1:22
Come on, this guy has been doing this for a while. Since 2009, I think is when I first saw him
1:28
And I bumped into this man randomly in the lobby here at SiriusXM
1:35
And I turned into a fanboy. I was like, oh shit, Sean T
1:41
What is Sean T doing here? And I was like, yo, you got to come on the show
1:48
I don't know how we're going to make it happen, but he's here promoting his new strength training workout program
1:53
Dig Deeper. Deeper. Listen, if you want to transform yourself for the better
2:01
more than you want to remain the same, I want you to call the lineup right now, 888-742-3345
2:08
We got the iconic Shanti. It's in the building. What's up? Let's go
2:14
It's a big time. Thanks for having me. Come on, man. Let me tell you something
2:20
I look at things differently. I look how folks I know that came into our communities and helped us advance, you know, in different ways
2:30
whether it was becoming politically conscious, whether it was through education. And I always look for folks who help us transform into a better state
2:38
And when you came out, you know, you came out in a frenzy
2:42
People don't know what this shit was. Like, what is this? Like, insanity
2:46
What is this? A tornado. And look at the pacing in which he's doing it. I ran track up until college
2:52
I competed on a college level. I was a Northern California champion in the 400-meter hurdles
2:58
So I recognized your energy. You ran track. It's so interesting you say that
3:02
It's because I developed insanity off of my track practices. Because I said to myself, I was also a collegiate track athlete
3:11
I ran in high school and college. But I said to myself, I always said to myself
3:16
if someone could feel this way that we feel at the end of track practice
3:21
I'm like, if I can get people to do that in their home, they're going to be in the most peak physical condition ever
3:28
And it's so crazy that you get it. It's like every move that I created, I'm like, okay, this is a 400 intervals
3:36
The timing is exactly the same. It's like you got four 400 intervals
3:40
You got that 30-second rest. Sometimes a minute and 30 seconds. Your coach will make you do some sort of power move
3:45
Then you move forward. But you got to start out running a mile first to warm up. That's why people are like, your warm up is crazy as hell
3:51
Like, why you got me doing all that? I'm like, it's all from my track practice
3:55
And you only needed your body. So for me, when Insanity came out, I wanted to eliminate any barriers
4:01
People are like, I don't have this. I don't have that. Oh, my God. I'm like, you have your body? And we shot it in a gym because everybody remembers gym class
4:09
You know what I'm saying? And so I'm like, that's why I shot in the gym. I'm like, it's familiar
4:14
Like, there's nothing about this that's not familiar. It's on a basketball court. Where do we play mostly in the hood was on the basketball court
4:22
We play in basketball. So everything I wanted to be extremely familiar to people, like gym class, basketball, almost
4:29
like feeling like you're outside. And so you had no excuse and you just had your body
4:33
And I'm like, if you have your body and if a 40, sometimes 50 minutes, some of the crazy
4:38
workouts. If you're pushing yourself, even if it's really, really tough, the entire time
4:44
you have to subconsciously be telling yourself, this is me doing that. You can do it. You can do
4:49
it. You can do it. Now imagine what's happening to that person outside the workout. Because
4:53
everyone thinks, for me, track and field changed my life outside the workout. Like just, I would
5:00
say two weeks ago, I actually texted my coach after, my high school track coach, I texted him
5:05
after a lifting workout with my trainer because he whooped my... You know what I mean
5:09
And I texted him. I was like, you know, thank you so much. I still apply a lot of your messages in my headspace
5:15
when I'm working out. And all of that came from track and field. So people should know that
5:20
Shanti, my track and field brethren right there. We'll show you this. So I specialize at the 400 intermediate hurdles
5:26
and I'll anchor the four by four. There's a little flex. Yes, I do. Hey
5:31
Was you a sub 50, 400 meter? Oh, come on. You already know. Oh, 50, 40 meter hurdle, I was 50 point
5:38
Okay. But 400, I was a 48. Okay. So I was good. You and me would have been right up on each other
5:43
Let's go. I love a little front. You want to get back on the track? Yeah, just do it, baby
5:47
I'm ready. Listen. I feel like that might be a good charitable race, Sean T
5:51
Ooh, I like that. Yo. It's like Callaway, a 400 meter hurdle race
5:54
Because if you was in the 50s, I'm right there with you. Yo. Over the hurdles
5:59
Yeah. I might have smoked you with no hurdles. Oh, now we're going to talk. Now we're going to talk
6:03
You filmed this. let's go you know how they did you know
6:07
I think it was like Usain Bolt or like they used to do those like city track events
6:10
where they would just do like a straight 200 it didn't have any turns I'm down let's go
6:14
you don't do that let's go okay don't ask me who I got my money
6:18
I'll sweat you a hater private bet okay so this this idea was
6:25
I'm not sure if I was well I think it was groundbreaking because it was you right
6:31
and we didn't see a lot of you in that fitness world
6:34
other than I knew Billy Blanks. Of course. I used to go to Billy. I lived, I mean
6:38
my partner have a home in that area. So I used to go to Billy Blanks, Tybo
6:43
Right in Sherman Oaks. I was off of Van Nuys. Let's go. You used to do that
6:47
Yo, man, I lived in Sherman Oaks. At one point when I lived in L.A., I lived in Sherman Oaks
6:51
right around the corner of Ventura Boulevard. Packed. Packed. Sweaty. Right? Yes
6:56
Yes, I used to, this shit is funny. I live off Tarzana. Oh, word
7:01
Eh. Didn't know that. Anyway, so you had this idea. Did you have the money to back it
7:07
I had the talent, and somebody had the money. Okay. And they wanted to invest in me, and I was very confident that it would be successful
7:14
So where was your business acumen at that time? Did you, what kind of, like, how did you know to navigate the dealings of that
7:20
Because you couldn't have known it would be, insanity would be so huge. So very interesting
7:24
So Hip Hop Abs was my very first program So I moved to Los Angeles Hip Hop Abs All day long Yay I had to take what I knew and apply it to the world so that I could be authentically me
7:37
And for me, I was a dancer, and I loved hip-hop, and so bringing those two together, bringing it to America
7:44
which was very interesting and hard to do, but I'm like, yo, I'm taking this into everyone's home
7:49
You know, whether they're from the hood, whether they're urban, whether they like hip-hop or not
7:53
I'm like, I can bring a flavor of hip-hop to people so they understand it a little better, and they dance to it
7:58
Now, I wasn't giving them the full 448, but enough to actually move and find a groove
8:04
So I moved to Los Angeles to be a professional dancer, but I was working at Equinox
8:08
and I was teaching a hip-hop aerobics. It wasn't ads, but it was a hip-hop aerobics class
8:14
and a producer saw my class was packed. People would wait an hour just to take my class
8:19
so she saw my class was packed, and that's when she called and was like yo do you want to do a program with this company Beachbody
8:25
I had no idea what Beachbody was I was just like yeah you know let's go so we created hip-hop abs
8:31
and you know I'll tell you a funny story I um so I moved to Los Angeles I had three thousand dollars
8:37
I was like you know a dancer so I was like trying to get a job working at the gym just trying to like
8:42
make ends meet but I was doing pretty good because I came from the corporate world so I applied that
8:47
to like what I was doing. That's good to know. That's what I wanted to know
8:50
How wise were you keen to the business at that time? Yes, I had come from the pharmaceutical
8:56
I was a health program director at like a high level pharmaceutical company
9:00
So I had the corporate life that I hated. I know people love it, but it just wasn't for me
9:05
It wasn't free. So then I just dropped everything, moved to LA. And when I moved to LA to be a professional dancer
9:11
I felt happier having way less money. And I was just like, my mom was just like
9:16
go you will regret it if you don't go try to live your dream god bless your mom i know and so anyway
9:21
so i went out there started teaching and then after this producer found me you know i was just
9:26
like all right like i gotta i gotta make this work i gotta push through and so they offered me a
9:32
program and i was like let's go let's do it and hip-hop abs to date how many how many of those have
9:39
been sold the program? Man, I don't know. Hip Hop Abs, that was 2006 or 2007
9:47
Oh, the story I was going to tell you, this is really important. So I'd never been able to purchase a car on my own
9:53
And I remember when the infomercial came out, because we were talking about how the infomercials
9:57
people were eating chips, and Sean T would pop on the screen. I'm like, let's get those abs right
10:02
But, you know, I went from a starving artist in LA, and I remember the first weekend
10:09
that my infomercial came out, my producer called me up and she was like, your life is going to change forever
10:14
And I remember a month later, I got a check for $100,000 and it was crazy
10:19
And I went right to the Sunrise Ford. There you go. Come on, ching ching
10:24
I went right to Sunrise Ford on Lancashire Boulevard and I went into the Ford dealership
10:31
and I'm like, I've always wanted an F-150. I couldn't find the one that I wanted
10:34
I went around back, I saw this like really souped up truck. I was like, I want that truck
10:38
I go inside. They were like, it's the owner's truck. I'm like, I will pay him cash. Like how much
10:42
And it was a really good feeling to be like, yo. And it motivated me not to just be good at hip hop abs, but to want to create more
10:52
So Insanity was actually my third. That was the third? It was my third program
10:57
And I was told no originally when I said I wanted to create it. They were like, you're just the dance guy
11:02
And I said, give me 24 hours. because they didn't know I was a track athlete
11:08
I'm like, yeah, everybody knows me as the dance guy, but also it comes from somewhere else
11:13
Even my movement and the push comes from somewhere else. And so I was able to create Insanity
11:18
And so that was the start of me really navigating business and people out in the industry to be like
11:24
no, you have to fight for what you want. So I hired a videographer, called my friends
11:29
and I was like, we're going to do this. and I submitted the Insanity audition tape
11:35
And that really completely changed my life because it opened people up to who Shanti really was
11:41
I was able to put motivation behind the movement. And so that's what I want people to know
11:46
It's not about the six-pack. It's what's behind the six-pack. Like, how are you going to push
11:50
How are you going to move? Your body's constantly changing every day. We're always getting older
11:54
But how hard do you want to go? How hard do you want to push? Shanti is here, man
11:59
And he got the new project. He's promoting strength training workout program
12:04
It's called Dig Deeper. Who are your top five in hip hop
12:09
Oh, that sucks. Do you want to go? Do you want to go
12:14
So I have to. Let me give you my. Okay. So Nicki Minaj
12:19
Nicki Minaj. Okay. Okay. Eminem. Okay. You asked Shay 4-5. You knew you had to say that
12:26
No, no, no. He is like. I just feel like those two in a live battle would just slay the game
12:33
Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Nicki Minaj and Eminem
12:37
Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Yeah, perfect. Yo, it's lit. You know the lyrics? I mean, if we put it on..
12:41
I used to know the lyrics. You still don't. All right. What's that
12:45
Roman's Revenge? Roman's Revenge. That's a hard one, too. And both of them are on it
12:49
It's Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Yes, it's a combo. I am not Jasmine. I am Aladdin
12:53
So far ahead, these gums is lagging. I just know where she goes. I'm starting to feel like a dungeon dragon
13:00
Like a dungeon dragon. That's enough. That's enough. Don't put me on the spot. You really know your Nicki
13:06
Yeah. Oh, I know Nicki. All right. So Nicki, Eminem. Yeah. Love Cardi B
13:12
Okay. Love her. I love the crazy. I don't know if you guys
13:17
I mean, I consider India Ivory to be hip hop in a way. I know it's R&B, but she takes me
13:22
She's a . I Am Not My Hair, it just takes me to that like... And that's good for a cool down
13:27
That's for like mobility work. That's what I'm saying. It balances my hip hop out. Harmony
13:31
It gives me a little something there. And then who would I put? What is that
13:35
Three or four? That's four. That's four. Who would I put is number five
13:39
That's a tough one. So he went Eminem, Nicki, Cardi B. Uh-huh
13:44
India A.R.E. India A.R.E., which is... And what lens were you thinking through, Sway
13:49
This. Just in terms of like... I love it because Shanti mentioned how important hip hop played a role in his life
13:56
We are all here. Oh, yeah. But if you want to take it back to the 80s, like, you know, now we're going NC Light, Miss Melody, Big Daddy Kane
14:07
Like, in the foundation of my hip hop, we're going back there. But now, you know what I'm saying
14:11
Like, when I'm in a car, you know what I'm saying? That's what you were. Okay. But if we go back, if we go back, like, self-destruction was, like, the song of two centuries
14:21
You know what I'm saying? Like, that was my era if we're going there. What did you grow up
14:25
Jersey, Camden. Damn, Heather's not here today. Let me say it for her
14:29
Jersey stand up. So you got Lauryn Hill. You got Red Band
14:34
I had a Lauryn Hill Emmys party in college when, you know, when she won all those Emmys
14:39
No, so we go back, back, like, you know, Lottie Dottie. We like stuff
14:44
Like, all that. Oh, Cool J. Yeah, like we're there. Which hip-hop artists or celebs have you had a chance to interact with
14:51
And what do they think of what you bring to the culture? I don really I don think I interacted with many I got a funny story about Ice
15:05
Okay, that's my guy, Ice-T. So I was at a movie premiere
15:10
And so Christopher Maloney, which is one of his co-actors in All Honor, SVU
15:16
So I'm at this movie premiere, and I'm in the bathroom. I'm at the urinal, and I turn around to go wash my hands
15:22
and Ice-T was like, Shaw tea. And I was like, I'm like, if you ever get props from Ice-T, you know what I'm saying
15:30
That's what that's to be. So I think that's, you know, but I would say I've been to so many industry parties
15:36
Like, it's actually hard to remember, like, the amount of people that I met. Oh, wow, that was a stunt right there
15:40
You know, there's a flex. That's a flex. I mean, I tried to humbly flex it, but it's true
15:44
It just came out. I mean, but think about that. I'm a fitness guru. I'm not in the industry like an actor or a singer
15:51
So when I'm in those spaces, it's pretty amazing. I would say, oh, I also met MC Light for the first time, and I didn't know it was her
15:58
Why? I didn't know it was her because I hadn't seen her. You know, I never saw her in person
16:03
She got the new style, the hair, the everything. Yeah, so, oh, my gosh. So I think she thought I was, like, rude to her because she came up to me
16:08
She was like, yeah, you need to come train me. And I'm like, I don't know who you are. You said that? No
16:13
But I did. Look, I didn't. And then I was like, holy
16:18
Paul, did I just turn MC Light down? so if you're listening I'm so sorry please give me another chance
16:23
you told her no and she walked away well I don't train people anyway so I would have said no eventually
16:27
but I'm just saying I mean I think if you had to make
16:32
an exception oh oh yeah MC light yeah there's you know so I have to go back
16:38
in my Rolodex of people that I met but yeah it's been great Shanti is here
16:42
this is great we're gonna continue this conversation alright 8887 we got a lot of people
16:47
on the phone lines too 8887 423345 We're going to talk about strength training, workout program, dig deeper
16:54
And, man, get the game from Shanti. J45, we got Shanti in here
16:59
We're getting our hip-hop abs together right now. You got to see me. You got to see it to believe it
17:04
I'm crunching. I'm crunching. I'm crunching. I'm crunching. I'm crunching. I wouldn't show you my abs, but right now I'm in the bulking phase of my journey
17:14
What? The bulky phase? I'm bulking. Yeah, speak about that. What does that mean
17:18
Because there's bulking and shredding. Yeah, there's bulking and shredding. So this summer, I'm going for my bodybuilding pro card
17:25
So last year, I did my first show. I made it to Nationals. So then I had to pack it
17:30
I had to go from like 200 pounds to I'm like almost 240 now
17:33
Really? Let me take off this shirt. I'm not sure y'all was good. No, no, it's okay
17:38
Not the shirt. My hoodie, my hoodie. I'll keep the shirt on. Okay, okay. Just to show you where the arms are
17:43
Don't be having a penis on. Sway's like, nah. We ain't going to do all that. I just got back to the gym
17:47
Sway, take your shirt off too. Embarrass me. No, no, no. My next to Sean T
17:53
You ain't got nothing. I'm a motivator. I'm going to make you look good, Sway. Come on
17:57
Come on, man. Shit. But not in this moment. I won't look good if I took my shirt off
18:01
Sean T., don't be doing that. It's showing your body off for decades now
18:05
Just the arm or two. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, a bicep won't hurt. What
18:11
You have a problem after I leave. You already know. One of the things, and I'm going to let Tracy jump in
18:16
that I'm trying to emphasize, and I could parallel it a little bit to working at MTV
18:23
is that I was walking in spaces that I wasn't accustomed to being in
18:27
and I was surrounded by people every day that I wasn't accustomed to working with
18:31
from different walks of life, different cultures. And a lot of it wasn't
18:37
they weren't keen on my culture necessarily where I came from. They knew the surface, you know
18:43
but they didn't know the depth. and navigating in those circles sometimes you could feel like you're even those other people
18:49
going through the same thing you could feel like you're a long ranger and i'm wondering for you
18:54
especially in the fitness uh arena what was that like being a black man all right in this position
19:00
and trying to teach the industry how to focus on your community did you have any challenges with
19:07
that so very good question and if i can keep it very real one of the things that put me in a good
19:13
place is the fact that I'm a gay man okay which is always easier to translate into fitness like
19:21
it's just a thing if you go to equinox like most instructors are gay guys so you know having that
19:26
you know having to navigate that gave me an end to be like all right already like it was good there
19:31
but I also had to fight my way I'm gay and I'm black like there's two things that I've had to
19:36
fight from the time basically I was 21 years old yeah you know what I mean and I just like yo stay
19:41
true to who you are so when i went into these spaces that were corporate and 99.999 white i'm
19:48
like okay cool like i can vibe with this because i'm already used to fight my way and like be having
19:54
to be seen by showing being authentic to who i am and showing my talent um but one of the things that
20:00
was very troublesome for me is that the consumers were 99.9 white and i'm like there's which is fine
20:09
You know, I'm like, I'm here for it. Like, it's good because I'm able to bring urban culture into that space
20:15
But I'm at a point right now where I'm like, well, how do I reach our people? Because our people are the ones that are suffering from heart disease
20:21
Right. Our people are the ones that, you know. Diabetes. Diabetes. So, for me, it's like, I, you know, and look, I told my publicist team puts me in the urban markets
20:29
I'm like, listen, I have, I'm established enough in my career and I'm at 45, you know, when you get to the point, like the zero s, you know, thing goes out the window
20:39
And I'm like, I need to go after what I need to go after. And so reaching my community is very important, which is why I'm glad I'm here with you guys
20:46
Absolutely, Shanti. Being gay, what kind of response or reaction did you get from the hip-hop community, if any
20:56
You know, I think because I'm a helper, like I change people's lives
21:02
Plus, like, do you see me? Nobody's stepping. Oh, yeah, this dude right here
21:07
You know he was a track and field guy. Nah. But also, like, I mean
21:13
You know, people have their opinions, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And in our culture, we've always had this conversation
21:19
and we've always had these challenges. And you also have your undercover artists as well
21:24
Yeah. Who are actually gay and who might see Shanti and be like, oh, snap
21:28
I could be myself. Yeah. This is my new snap. I think, you know, I had
21:33
My mother is amazing. Like, she literally. like when I told her she was like and my brother was like and and it really gave me the foundation
21:42
of strength to go out there and be me but the funny story is when my husband and I got married
21:47
my assistant at the time posted on twitter I'm at like the best wedding of my life and people like
21:52
Sean T comes out by twitter via twitter and I was like I was never in but what happened was
21:58
was never in really I mean have you done hip-hop abs like it's not really that hard yeah you know
22:04
I mean, I'm cutting up. But the thing that's really, was really interesting is the fan base
22:10
Like whenever I would post something with me and my spouse, like I immediately lose 500 followers
22:16
Like, no, it was like, boom, like literally thousands and thousands, you know
22:20
But for me, I'm like, step beat my grandfather. As you say be steadfast and abundant and like your message and who you are and stay true to who you are And so I already look like I said I black I gay Like I already you know and now I like all right I in an interracial marriage
22:38
So like this, this arena is not new to me. And so oftentimes people are really surprised that I'm not, you know, I'm not fearful and
22:47
I'm very transparent. I'm like, I don't know what you want me to do because if you're allowed to live your
22:51
best life, then I am too. And I'm not asking you to be around me. But I can help you
22:57
Sean T, man. Sean T. Sean. I like that. Yes. The fitness industry, when it comes to peers, is it very competitive
23:06
Is there a lot of camaraderie? You know, even we've been talking about hip hop a lot
23:11
Nicki Minaj is one of your favorite. Nicki Minaj and Megan are going at it right now
23:16
Have you ever had like a beef with somebody who is also a fitness leader
23:21
No, because I don't care. like for me you know i'm like you can do the shake weight y'all remember the shake weight
23:26
shake weight i remember the thigh master i'm like what was the p90x p90x yeah tony i'm like listen
23:32
i have look if you say i've always said this you don't have to do my workouts but do and be the
23:39
best that you can do and have great quality of life and try to get as healthy as you can so for
23:44
me beef and fitness is counterintuitive to why we're in this industry in the first place however
23:48
people do have beef but I just look at people sideways I'm like I really don't have time for that conversation
23:54
even if people start talking about other people I'm like I don't have time for that conversation however
23:58
there are people that try me you know what I'm saying and so for me
24:05
I just you know I protect my peace and you know Maya Angelou says
24:10
people show you who they are believe them the first time and the first time you were going to eliminate it
24:14
from my space so for me I'm not going to argue with you I'm just not going to give you the time and so that's how I move that's how I deal
24:21
with you know that negative energy yeah I'm just like I don't have time for that when you're online
24:27
we have now so many fitness content creators right um I'm sure you see a slew of inaccurate
24:33
information although people may have good intentions are there any kind of um myths that
24:39
you want to bust or just like, you know, untrue truths that are being put out there
24:46
around fitness, around mindset, even around the way that you're supposed to be doing some
24:52
exercises that you can share? Well, the thing is like you can't control what people post
24:57
And so that's at the end of the day. There's a lot of stuff out there
25:01
But I think that like to answer your question, like for me, it's more about I'm very encouraging
25:07
so I'm just like yo if that person's gonna be like that and I have some sort of relationship
25:13
with them I have zero problem reaching out and being like yo what you're saying is x the only
25:18
thing that gets under my skin is when people say you can do these five extra sizes for five minutes
25:23
a day and lose 20 pounds like that pisses me off that's not gonna happen that's the thing and I hate
25:28
when people are like if you lose x amount of weight you're gonna you know I'm saying like I'm
25:34
going to pay you your money back i'm like you're only focused on having people have weight loss
25:40
which to me again is counterintuitive than the big picture which is becoming stronger building
25:45
muscle muscle is the fountain of youth the more muscle you have in your body the more your
25:50
metabolism is going to speed up so there's those kind of things that i try to really combat and it
25:55
really pisses people off that try to make you give you the gimmicky sale but i'm not afraid
25:59
Shanti's not afraid and he's trying to let you know he got hands. All right
26:04
We're going to go to these phone lines. 888-742-3345. Strength training workout program is called Dig Deeper
26:10
We got Brittany on the line from San Diego. Brittany. Hey, Britt. Rise and shine
26:15
Say what up to Sean, Britt. Hello. Can y'all hear me? Yeah
26:19
Loud and clearest, ma'am. Listen, all I got to say is tilt, tuck, and tighten
26:25
For long, I've been with Shanti. I love Shanti. I'm a part of Dig Deeper right now
26:33
I bought the program early. I'm enjoying it. I'm on. Is she getting further from the phone
26:38
Yo, yo, yo, Brittany, what are you doing? Dig Deeper as you speak? Get on the phone, Brittany
26:43
What are we doing? No, no, no, no. I'm not getting further. There you go
26:46
There go, Brittany. Oh, you're a teacher. I'm okay. My bad. I'm a teacher
26:50
I'm at work. Okay. So I'm trying to be discreet, but at the same time when I heard that Shanti was there
26:56
I was like, oh, no, I got to call in. So screw those kids. All right, go ahead
27:01
But ultimately, I just want to say that Shanti, I'm a huge fan, huge follower
27:07
My children know who you are. My husband is like, oh, there you go again
27:12
But you are the reason I have Beachbody. I mean, I love everybody else
27:21
I've tried other programs, but I really enjoy Shanti's programs. All of them make me smile
27:27
all of them make me want to. Hey, Brittany, Brittany, Brittany, Brittany, tell us about
27:32
Dig Deeper. You said you're currently in that program. Okay. Yeah. It's different because I've
27:38
never been a weightlifter. And so, you know, my first thought of weightlifting was, okay
27:44
I'm gonna get bulky. I'm gonna look like a bodybuilder. But, you know, the more that I kind
27:49
of, I joined the Facebook group and that really kind of helped because Shanti is very active on
27:54
the Facebook group. He posts videos, motivation. He talks to us. He lets us know, hey, this is
28:00
how it should be. This is what you should prepare for. And so far, I'm within the second
28:07
I guess you can say, of the three breakdowns. I'm like within the second portion of it
28:12
I've been going on for about five weeks now. And I'm really, really enjoying this ride. Like
28:20
I feel the difference in my body. I feel the difference in my spirit when I work
28:25
I look forward to working out because I used to be like those, you know, like I was T25 all day
28:32
25 minutes, I had that. T25, the classic. But I looked at these times
28:37
That's how you know I love Shanti. I looked at these times and I'm like, okay, 50 minutes, okay, 45
28:43
but you know now as I've been going on with the program I can tell like that's not even phasing
28:50
me I'm like okay it's 10 o'clock at night I got three kids oh and there's the bell okay well thank
28:56
you thank you for your testimony Brittany that was awesome get back to the kids
29:00
wow oh wow that was great man she would have went on for an hour oh yeah well what what is it about
29:09
dig deeper what is it that you um hope people can accomplish with dig deeper really i just want
29:16
people to understand that your body is and can be a fat burning machine you know and i'm so glad she
29:21
talked about how she was she was afraid she was going to get bulky i mean it's just not going to
29:25
happen and when women say oh my gosh i'm going to get bulky i'm like if you can get bulky every man
29:30
would pay you for whatever you have in your body because we want to get bulky we want to get big
29:34
and you know i always say a pound of muscle is like you may be not see my hands if you're
29:39
listening but it's like a certain circumference around and if you take that in half that's a pound
29:44
of a pound of fat is sorry a pound of fat is this big around and a pound of muscle you take that in
29:49
half so people are so focused on weight loss when they should just be focused on fat loss and
29:54
building muscle and so if you focus on that you focus more on the long term the long
29:59
of it. And so people who are in their 50s, mid-60s are doing this program and they are
30:07
losing body fat percentage because they always thought, I have to do cardio. That's the only
30:12
thing I have to do. Like I was telling Sway, he said, he just started working out. I'm like, I'm throwing him on the treadmill. No, I'm kidding. I'm throwing him under the treadmill
30:22
No, I was just saying, I was saying to him, you know, workout, do strength training four days a
30:27
week make sure it's 45 to 50 minutes of intense strength training get on a treadmill right after
30:32
walk on a three and a half degree incline or three and a half degree miles an hour and a six degree
30:37
incline make sure you drink your protein shake before after you lift and before you get on the
30:42
treadmill protein synthesis sets in you have the perfect combination for you to burn fat and build
30:47
muscle and that's what i'm putting into dig deeper like i actually have a couple steady state
30:51
workouts in there but i also tell people like get on a bike if you got a bike at home walk around a
30:56
block get on the phone while you talk it doesn't have to be like this intense there's no jumping
31:00
and dig deeper so people are like oh my god i got bad knees i'm like i teach you how to to activate
31:05
your muscles and your core so you take away a lot of that pain by just moving in a low impact way
31:10
i'm about to do that today come on i was jumping on the treadmill before the workout and not after
31:16
the workout well i was telling like you know do five minutes on the treadmill before the workout just warm get your body warm but then like hit that workout those weeks do that today man i'm
31:24
It'll be Sean T. Officer! Yo, Julie. Julie. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry
31:30
We got Julie on the line from Dallas. Julie, how you doing, Julie
31:34
Hey, Julie. Good morning, guys. Good morning, Sway. Good morning, Heather, Tracy, Lonnie, Torchy
31:40
Good morning. I am so grateful to be on the line with you guys. Sean T, thank you for everything
31:46
I'll explain that in a minute. I am a first-time caller. I did try to call on my birthday
31:50
You got a first-time caller? Hold up. And it's her birthday. Hold up, man
31:53
No, no, no. it's not my birthday it's not my birthday but you're a first-time caller first time caller i'm
31:58
a first-time caller i tried to call on my birthday and sway right before i got on you had to drop me
32:05
but it's all good i still love you i listen to y'all every morning i still love you though i still
32:11
love you too julia look i dropped you off once i picked you up this day there you go and you got
32:17
Yes, the way you picked me up on the person who has made the biggest change in my life over the last two years
32:25
Wow. Sean, I was at an ultimate low. I was over 265 pounds
32:32
I'm five foot two. So you can imagine the weight. I couldn't lift my legs
32:37
I couldn't keep up with my toddler. I started following you, Sean, on TikTok
32:42
I watched you dancing. I watched you having fun with your spouse
32:46
I watched you with Lizzo. It inspired me to dance again like I used to in high school
32:51
And from then, I signed up for the whole year. I did size and let's get up for a solid year and lost 60 pounds in the first year
33:01
Congratulations. How do you feel? I feel great. The second year, I introduced the gym
33:08
I have now lost 105 pounds. Let's go. Wow. 100. You lost a person
33:15
Two years Wow Two years Two years A hundred and five pounds no surgery no medicine no ozempic It was purely getting up and moving around
33:27
And Sean's program actually gave me the will to do it again
33:32
Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your process. That is the biggest compliment ever
33:37
And I'm glad you're staying consistent. You are literally the person out there that people need to listen to
33:43
consistency over time equals results and when people hear stories like this you know it's like
33:48
the first year a lot of people get try to get motivated after like 30 days oh they give up
33:53
after 30 days they didn't like a year she said two years and you you navigated your way to move
34:00
into the gym which i know had to be tough to go into a public place and be like yo i'm gonna like
34:05
kill the game but you are killing the game and i'm loving it julie from dallas you a citizen
34:11
Sway in the morning. Thank you, guys. Love you. Have a blessed day
34:15
You too. Hell of a testimonial. We got a lot of calls. We got to wrap this show
34:19
Come on. Give me all the calls, Sway. Let me give him the calls. He's wrapping this up. This is my day
34:23
All right. This is Sean T-Day. This is T-Day. Don't cast those hands
34:27
All right. Let's go to Charlotte. We got Jay on the line from Charlotte. What's up, Jay
34:31
Hey, JJ. Jay. Sway, what's up? What's up, family? What's going on
34:35
Hey, Sean T, what's up, man? Good to hear your voice, man. Hey, listen, I got a situation, man
34:42
I'm getting ready to have surgery. I'm 50 plus four years old, and I'm getting ready to have spine surgery
34:50
And I want to do a super modified version of the workout
34:54
I don't want to stop working out. But after my surgery, how do you think I should go about it, man
34:59
Because I'm doing asylum now. Oh, wow. All your DVDs and everything now
35:04
So I'm trying to stay active. You know what I mean? Yes
35:09
My surgery was scheduled for today, but I had caught COVID last week, so they rescheduled it for the 28th of February
35:15
But until then, I still want to work out, so I don't know how I should go about it
35:19
All right. So first of all, good luck on your surgery. We're going to do this. So here's the most important thing
35:24
Physical therapy post-surgery is the most important thing. Do not skip it. And if you can go extra, depending on like your insurance, go to physical therapy as much as possible
35:36
And more than trying to focus on working out, focus on core strength, core stability
35:41
Might sound really weird, but like Pilates and yoga, like those things are going to keep you strong in your body
35:48
And think about this. Whenever you're in that pushup position, I tell people, if you can hold up your body, you can hold up your life
35:53
because the pushup position is really you using all points of your body to hold yourself up
35:59
So getting that surgery, that's going to be really important. Now, post-surgery, after you go to physical therapy, when they say, hey, you can move again
36:05
do things a little bit slower. If you do half the reps that I do on my workouts, that's better than trying to go super hard
36:11
because you have to climb a mountain one step at a time and you're going to hit plateaus
36:16
but don't get upset when you hit those plateaus. like use them as balancing blocks for you to be like
36:22
okay, boom, let me assess where I'm at. And always look down that mountain to see how far you come
36:26
and keep on climbing. Amen. All right, Jay. Keep us posted on your progress, brother
36:31
You a super citizen. Let's take Lisa. She's in the ATL. What's up, Lisa
36:35
Hey, Lisa. Hey hey Shanti My husband and I have been followers of yours for the past I think 12 years We had an opportunity to work out with you in Atlanta
36:47
I don't know if you recall, it was 10 years ago at Lifetime Fitness. I do remember
36:52
You were running late and you were like, hey, we got to do this workout because I got a flight to catch
36:56
But you got it in with us. We took photos with you
37:00
We've done several rounds of insanity. And when I tell you guys, like, everything this man is saying, like, he lives by and he inspires everyone that he comes in contact with, whether it's virtually, in person, whatever it may be
37:15
And we're doing Dig Deeper now. We're in month two. I was very proud of myself because I had my son four years ago, but I was not able
37:25
It seemed like no matter what programs we did, whether it was Beachbody, some of the other competitors
37:30
I don't get the type of results that I get with your programs and the way that you motivate people during the workouts
37:39
I mean, as hard as hell as some of those workouts can be, you inspire us to just keep going
37:46
And so, like, you have touched our lives for over the past 12 years
37:51
I feel like you're one of the reasons that we ended up getting married because we weren't married when we came together to Lifetime Fitness
37:58
But we're married now. we have a son um one of the things that bonds us will always be insanity we had a friend group who
38:06
did insanity all together and all of us we look back on those photos like man we've never been in
38:12
that that much shape or the the best shape of our lives as we were when we were doing those programs
38:18
so we're very excited to be doing dig deeper now um it's working out very well so thank you thank
38:24
you brother for everything that you do you're inspiring our community even though i know there's
38:29
more you want to do. You've inspired this girl right here. I tell you for sure
38:34
Well, thank you. Thank you for your words. I'm so happy that I'm a love connector
38:38
That makes me, you know, because like, again, I tell people this all the time and she made a very
38:43
good point. Spouses who work out together stay together because you have to encourage each other
38:48
You see people change. You see people in that vulnerable state and it creates a great way for
38:53
you to communicate. So, you know, I'm glad you got good. I'm glad you have great workouts and
38:57
you're pushing through i'm really really appreciative that you've been following me
39:01
for 12 years but i'm just so happy for your love like that's what's up that is super super dope so
39:06
thank you and sean and sean we still do we still say like a lot of your sean t-ism like what what's
39:12
your favorite one like i want to want my favorite one is i want to leave rich and i want to leave
39:18
yeah like this don't feel good no more i want it's a hard workout one of the women in my videos
39:22
like I'm gonna leave I'm like girl go sit down my all-time favorite and from dig deeper I love when
39:30
you tap um Chris on the show you're like hey man I I love you but I need you to go up and then wait
39:36
yes because I need people to know like you can't be afraid of the weight like you are always in
39:42
control I appreciate I love that I'm taking game Lisa thanks for sharing your testimony
39:46
you're a super citizen tell your husband I said absolutely alright you're a citizen
39:54
I want to thank you man you come by here anytime I hope you enjoyed your experience and I glad we were able to make this happen as well as we did That caller mentioned Lizzo Did you work out with Lizzo
40:07
Oh, yeah. So I surprised Lizzo for her birthday. I guess it was like
40:11
three years ago. I can't remember. It was two or three years ago
40:15
One of her dancers was in my Let's Get Up, which was a dance program
40:19
We became really close and we were like, yo, she was like, oh my God, Lizzo loves you
40:23
So we surprised her with a dance workout. I worked out with her a few times
40:27
we did some TikToks together. Yes, I remember. Yeah, she's awesome. All right, that's what's up
40:32
She's a wonderful human being. Absolutely. We were one of the first people to give her a national platform
40:37
Uh-huh. Yeah, back when they didn't know her. Early, early. She's wonderful. I didn't know you had gang tats
40:42
So tell me about that. Well, if you let me take off my shirt
40:46
I will show you all my tats. But we're not going to do that today. We'll do that next time
40:50
Next time? Bring me back in the summertime when I'm show ready. And I'm going to give you it all
40:55
But we'll do a tattoo tour right here on your show. People have been asked for that
40:59
But no, this tattoo on my hand is 8113. And so I have twins
41:04
And one was born at 811. And the other one was born at 813. So I just put
41:07
It's my daughter's birthday. What? 811 or 813? 13. Oh, let's go
41:13
Track this. See? We're connected forever. Okay, so that's what that is
41:19
That's this one. This one, this tattoo is stay the course. I mean, yeah, stay the course and chase the feeling
41:25
everybody chases a result they chase a number I say chase the feeling because if you chase
41:30
wanting to feel good the number doesn't matter and it becomes more about your quality of life
41:34
so this is a compass on my hand and you'll see that they're all s's and that's because my husband's
41:39
name is Scott I'm Sean Silas and Sandra are my kids so I'm like wherever direction I go
41:44
is to one of them amen what does sway start with sway starts with an s oh let me put one on the northeast wow
41:56
so what is this one alright so this one over here on this hand this is a clock
42:01
and so it says midnight love here I met my husband at midnight
42:05
that's a whole another show we can talk about that but shout out to Scott
42:09
shout out to Scott and so yeah so that's midnight love and that
42:14
at 12 before we had our first kiss that's what we'll say there you're so sentimental
42:17
and then the B is my last name is Blocker I took his last name
42:21
when I got married Okay. And then I have a bunch of tattoos. I'm going to give you a tattoo tour
42:25
You got to come back. I need the tour. They're good. They're good. They're good tattoos. So many stories attached to them
42:30
Every single one has a story. Every single one. Intentional. So y'all met at midnight for the first time
42:35
Sway, don't. He said next show, Sway. Okay. Next show. Y'all got to come back when I come back. Okay
42:43
Yo, give it up for Shanti, man. Make sure you do yourself a favor
42:47
Order that Dig Deeper. How can they get it, bro? They can get Dig Deeper by going to digdeepernation.com
42:53
You can join the Facebook group that Lisa, I think it was I was talking about
42:57
I'm in there very, very active. And you can also get to my apparel line and all the other fun stuff that I do
43:03
And I have to motivate you to push through. Yes. Congratulations on your journey, on your success
43:09
Continue success and continue journey, man. Thank you. I appreciate you. Much love. Thank you
43:14
Sean T, man. Give it up for Sean T. Bye
