you were here when the mission
0:02
started when it came AB above the
0:05
surface this has been a plan and action
0:09
for quite some time by a very brilliant
0:11
mind a Visionary I dare say he and I
0:13
have worked together for decades
0:16
creating and telling stories and ways
0:18
that they've never been told and when he
0:20
first had this brainchild and brought it
0:22
um to me mentioned it to me I said
0:24
listen I got to be a part of this I
0:26
don't know how but I'm piggybacking on
0:28
this and he invited me to be join him
0:30
and be an EP on this rap dad's show that
0:34
we do now and from his beginning and
0:37
then also um his amazing wife is also a
0:40
partner with us on this so she truly is
0:43
the boss you know but they we just use
0:45
my name and brand to see what we can get
0:48
in but she cat she makes all the
0:50
decisions but I just want to say to you
0:52
and your family you got amazing family
0:55
your sons everybody are creative people
0:58
I want to say congratulations when this
1:00
started you know we used to kind of
1:01
hagger over damn are anybody going to
1:03
watch this you know how many views did
1:06
it get and I I used to always say it
1:08
ain't about that it's about laying the
1:10
foundation and the views will soon come
1:13
and since then some of the clips that
1:15
you have done some of the interviews you
1:17
have done have gotten over a million
1:18
views yes thank God come on this is less
1:21
than a year yes talk about it come on
1:24
some of the other Clips you got people
1:26
uh Z Sama yes you know we got a lot of
1:29
young men who we don't get a chance to
1:31
hear them speak about being a father and
1:33
the challenges of that and how that's
1:35
changed them made them better people we
1:37
don't you won't hear these kind of
1:39
conversations but you do now on rap dads
1:42
I want to welcome my man es Bon Serrano
1:44
he's back man part rap
1:47
Dad we love rap dad yo man we I we just
1:51
wanted to make sure we ended the year
1:53
the way we started it the 10 dad
1:56
Commandments bestseller in the hood
1:58
that's right all right this is the book
2:01
right here fatherhood through the lens
2:02
of Hip Hop written by eston Serrano this
2:05
is a great gift for the holidays it is
2:07
it's a lot of new fathers out there I'm
2:10
glad you mentioned that if you go to the
2:11
rapad show.com for the rest of the year
2:14
the 10 dad Commandments is $10 oh wow
2:18
perfect so where to go it the the rapad
2:22
show.com plural dads the rap dads show
2:25
all the te's are 20 bucks and the book
2:28
is just $10 for the rest of the and if
2:30
they want to listen to the podcast if
2:32
you want to listen to the podcast we're
2:34
on every single platform search the rap
2:37
dads show we're also on YouTube you can
2:39
see the visual version of it on YouTube
2:42
same thing just search the rap dad show
2:44
man um we we're talking about our
2:46
highlights of the year what what's been
2:48
the rap dad's highlight for you oh my
2:50
God man you know every year around this
2:52
time I start writing my vision for the
2:54
the next year and um high on my rap
2:57
dad's uh bucket list for 2024 for was a
3:01
partnership and we we partnered with
3:03
Roland La March that's right you know
3:06
and we got nle Chopper we got zo AMA you
3:09
know we got some of the the guests that
3:11
were on the bill that will be on the
3:13
bill um coming up um in the Miami
3:17
rolling loud as well that was a
3:19
highlight that didn't take long to to
3:21
execute um yeah that was one of them I
3:24
mean another one was you know hitting a
3:26
million uh views on one clip you know
3:31
amazing in in 28 days I feel I think it
3:34
was we hit a million views on a a clip
3:37
we did with Albi Al where he's talking
3:40
about um holding space for his
3:43
co-partner um his co-parent rather to
3:46
have a bad day and not only that what he
3:50
said was you know his daughter got in
3:51
the car was like you know me and your
3:53
mom just got into a fight I know she's
3:55
fighting something that's not me MH um
3:58
and I'm going to give her space but
3:59
don't think that this is your
4:01
opportunity to try to come between us
4:03
and I'm like whoo like you know like
4:05
that was just just the the and then you
4:07
know later on you know he tells later on
4:09
that she came back to him and said you
4:11
know I apologize you know whatever he's
4:13
like yo whatever you're fighting let's
4:15
fight it together mhm that requires a
4:18
lot of emotional intelligence come on
4:20
how old was a kid um I think she was a
4:24
teenager early teens that's important
4:26
because that shows someone how to deal
4:28
with emotions M right and how to process
4:31
right and how it's not about you but
4:34
what the other person is dealing with
4:36
right and giving them a moment to
4:37
process and to see that at such a young
4:40
age to understand conflict resolution
4:42
conflict Dynamics yes the maturity
4:45
aspect of it that's really powerful yeah
4:47
man we those examples we don't see those
4:49
examples often yes but you do on rap
4:51
dance definitely I made sure that even
4:53
when we were in the moment I was like
4:54
I'm clipping this out yeah and I'm
4:56
sharing it because these are the types
4:57
of conversations that I want to see well
5:00
look you got people on the line right
5:01
now anybody who calls to say anything
5:03
you have to buy the book Kev you got the
5:06
book yeah Kev you and Charlotte you got
5:08
the book hey Kev yeah yeah yeah I
5:11
already got the book what's up y'all
5:14
okay good all right say what's up we got
5:16
the author right here say what's up to
5:18
him hey what's going on Mr Sano how you
5:21
doing what's going on good morning good
5:23
morning brother how are you um what do
5:26
you I'm good I'm well I'm well what do
5:28
what do you think of the book has it
5:29
been useful for you man hell yeah it has
5:33
and you know what I'm not even finished
5:34
with it and I don't even feel bad saying
5:36
that CU I didn't want to rush through it
5:38
okay you know what I mean um being a
5:40
parent is a lifetime and I kind of like
5:42
you know kind of pace myself with it you
5:44
know I kind of refer to it when I feel
5:46
like it but I haven't finished it but
5:48
like I say I definitely read it in
5:50
spurts and I apply it to being a parent
5:52
and like I say a person so yeah wow
5:55
that's amazing man uh we appreciate your
5:57
support man and you have you seen the
5:59
interview what's one of your favorite
6:01
interviews um I haven't really seen the
6:03
interviews but I listen to you sway as
6:06
far as promoting it and like I know I
6:08
know yall have the archives up so I can
6:10
definitely refer to it and it's on all
6:11
platforms so I can get to it that's my
6:13
bad but I do have access to it so I will
6:15
do that okay and then do me a favor
6:17
follow the rap D show on Instagram I
6:19
need all the citizens already do that
6:21
already got so you'll be able to see
6:23
Clips there Kev anything you want to say
6:24
to
6:25
estabon yeah if I could just real quick
6:27
as I said I do have the book and real
6:29
quick I want to refer to something that
6:31
you do have in the book it's called
6:32
being a ride or die dad and we always
6:34
think of that as as adults like being a
6:36
ride you know ride a die person but we
6:39
got to think about as being being that
6:40
as a parent also and the way I've
6:43
applied that to my children is meeting
6:45
them where they
6:46
are you know what I mean meeting them
6:49
where they are my daughter um you know
6:51
girly girl nails and all of that and
6:53
before I had her it was just like you
6:54
know you know that's going to be the
6:55
mama thing that's going to be the mama
6:57
thing let the mama do that but I met
6:59
daughter where she is and she just told
7:02
me the other day Dad you're cool and I
7:04
that just made my day you know she said
7:06
that on her own and that just made me
7:08
smile and the way she looked at me just
7:11
just just made me feel like I
7:13
accomplished something with her and she
7:14
just said it flat out you're cool and I
7:16
was like okay yeah man very gratifying
7:19
it ain't nothing like your daughter
7:20
telling you you cool right that means
7:22
it's true yeah man that's a fact they
7:24
don't they don't off I appreciate it all
7:27
right man Kev we appreciate your call
7:29
brother your support man make make sure
7:31
you follow the Instagram you're super
7:34
citizen all right P Yonkers hey P P how
7:39
you doing Fam I'm blessed I'm blessed
7:41
I'm blessed man heading down to the
7:43
heading back to the crib right now
7:44
that's what's Florida how y'all holding
7:46
up over there yo we are beautiful man
7:48
frequency Fridays it ain't cold we hot
7:50
up in here kid you know what I mean yeah
7:54
so do you have the
7:56
book not yet I will be getting it though
7:59
Dead series GNA be getting it because as
8:02
a as a dad I'm I'm transitioning to the
8:05
to the level I'm about to have a
8:06
teenager yeah like two years so and I
8:09
she's a beautiful little young lady man
8:12
like this year I just happen to really
8:14
look at her as her becoming a teenager
8:18
and it kind of messed me up man because
8:19
now I'm over here with the mind frame
8:21
like man I might have to put hands on
8:23
little boys and all that man like I'm
8:26
there now so but I thank God have a
8:29
really good foundation in Parenthood man
8:32
like I had one of the ill my father's
8:34
one of the illest people in the world
8:36
man for real like man shout out to my
8:39
dad I'm I'm I'm a fourth generation he's
8:41
the third and my dad raised me on
8:45
hip-hop principles you know one thing I
8:49
I remember as a kid when well as a as as
8:53
a young adult I wasn't a grown man yet I
8:56
was just a young adult my Dad pulled me
8:59
to the side put me to the backyard I
9:01
never forget this conversation he played
9:04
krs1 once and needs once in needs okay
9:08
wow once in needs uhhuh and we had the
9:11
one of the realest conversations about
9:13
just how to handle things and how to
9:16
approach things and I it stuck with me
9:20
he always did things like that like yeah
9:22
even when I was a kid he'll play um he
9:25
helped me use the back he helped me
9:27
potty train off of
9:30
um d g it Biz
9:33
Marys sitting
9:35
onet for BS to move I got a
9:39
do that's crazy yo your pop is like
9:42
official rap dad that's a rap dad caps
9:46
rap Dad wow what's your pop's
9:49
name pum bur thei wow man listen Vernon
9:54
third and fourth like he's from the same
9:57
from money really from money earning
9:59
that's that but no my dad is really from
10:02
that block of money earning M
10:05
ver I love how you represent honor your
10:07
father man that's what this whole
10:09
movement with rap dads is all about
10:11
fatherhood through the lens of hip hop
10:13
right and that's exactly what your
10:15
father did you know I think it's
10:18
imperative that you follow the rap dad's
10:20
Instagram pill yep and and that and get
10:23
the book and get the book okay we got a
10:25
deal I'm getting the book today okay
10:27
cool man you a super citizen
10:31
hey this is beautiful let me do one more
10:33
we got Tyrie in New York go ahead Tyrie
10:35
hey Tai Tai what's up hey What's Going
10:38
what's going on y'all hey man long long
10:41
time long time listening long time
10:43
listening hardly get hardly get a chance
10:45
to call in but I'm calling because eson
10:47
man you uh kind of motivated me to
10:49
continue with my program called shelter
10:51
The Rock reclaiming our community taking
10:53
care of young teenage fathers new
10:55
fathers and trying to get them homes
10:56
that they needed getting them the
10:58
resources they
11:00
l a lot of here fors but not many for
11:03
theads especially and I was aen father
11:07
my two oldest kids one is in college
11:09
just bought a house and one is just
11:11
finished the Navy so and I use hip hop
11:14
I've been a rapper since I I can
11:16
remember I did a lot of underground
11:18
stuff and I've been using that to kind
11:20
of like connect with the kids do little
11:21
block do little soap box shows on the
11:23
Block and that's how I get their their
11:25
attention and from there I get I get a
11:27
message to him like look it's more just
11:29
what you see in this
11:31
city don't get stuck here thinking that
11:33
this is where you left and don't get
11:35
stuck thinking like nobody really care
11:36
about you especially with these children
11:38
and being a young father I love that
11:40
listen you you just hit something please
11:42
DM the rap that show um and let's
11:45
connect offline um my goal for 2025 I'm
11:49
actually working on this right now with
11:51
with with my brother Ace Clark is to
11:53
create a curriculum based on the 10 dad
11:55
Commandments for teenage fathers and and
11:58
make that available
12:00
um yeah man growing up I had a brother
12:02
Pedro who was um who lived with me had a
12:05
son in 10th Grade and my my brother
12:07
myself and my my nephew would go to
12:10
school to high school together cuz my
12:12
high school had a uh daycare built in to
12:15
keep the the dropout rate low um so yeah
12:18
man like you know Young Fathers Andie
12:20
Chopper talks about his uh Teenage
12:22
fatherhood Journey um Albi Al also talks
12:25
about it um on the rap I saw Nel Chopper
12:28
video I saw that interview chop yeah man
12:30
we got to equip thank you for your work
12:31
but we got to equip these these young
12:33
men um you know for for the road ahead
12:36
and that's going to have a huge lasting
12:38
impact on our community for sure let's
12:40
do this fact I I really think it's just
12:42
showing them something different than
12:44
what they see online and right in front
12:45
of them the world is huge and a lot of
12:48
them only see see it as big as they City
12:50
there you go I try to show them I try to
12:52
show them that this this world is huge
12:54
bro there's so many opportunities out
12:55
there for you to succeed whether you
12:57
want to be rich or you just want to be
12:58
known for something Tyreek we appreciate
13:01
you man you are officially a rap dad
13:03
abely in a
13:05
citizen n Chopper when I had my child I
13:09
was I was on a verge of um not want to
13:11
really live and once I found out I had a
13:14
daughter on the way I said damn I got
13:17
something to live for right like I got
13:19
something that I can't just check out
13:21
right now for I got something that I got
13:24
to stand stand firm beside God came
13:27
perfect timing with it I was in the
13:28
lowest point point of my life and I
13:30
never went back there and I started
13:33
changing my life went veg cutting people
13:35
off started taking all the right
13:38
measures to create the space where I
13:41
want to raise my child in that's amazing
13:43
and now we doing it that's
13:45
17 hell yeah I needed it that bad I
13:49
needed it that bad God sent it God know
13:52
he doing nle Chopper go to the rap dad
13:55
show on Instagram on YouTube right
13:59
imperative and we got a big event we're
14:01
planning for Allstar Weekend in the Bay
14:04
Area home you want to talk about that a
14:06
little yeah yeah let's talk about it man
14:08
we're going to we're putting together a
14:10
uh live podcast first ever rapad live
14:13
pod we're partnering with uh pure fuel
14:16

14:19
saw the vision early and you know
14:21
started communicating with us and
14:23
they're doing an amazing amazing job in
14:25
the community uh so yeah we're
14:27
partnering with pure fuel you know looks
14:29
like we're having it at Ken folk K folk
14:32
