Florida, United States - June 16, 2026 Two individuals on paddleboards were swept away by strong currents while out on the water and were unable to return to shore on June 16, 2026. Multiple agencies responded to the emergency, including the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, New Port Richey Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the U.S. Coast Guard. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit located the two individuals from the air and coordinated with marine units on the water. A marine team then reached the paddleboarders and brought them safely to shore. The response involved close coordination between air and water units working together in challenging conditions. Officials highlighted the importance of rapid response and inter-agency cooperation in resolving water emergencies in Pasco County. No injuries were reported.
