US, Los Angeles: Long Beach Search Underway For Missing Person Another Rescued Following Jet Ski Incident.

Los Angeles, United States - August 17, 2026 08/16/2026 10:35 pm GMT-0700 LONG BEACH, Calif. – A search was underway late Sunday night into early Monday morning for a person reported missing in the water near the 200 block of Marina Drive after two people became separated from their watercraft. The incident was reported just before 10 p.m., Sunday. Initial reports indicated two people were on separate Jet Skis and were unable to get back onto the watercraft. One person, a woman, was able to make her way to a break wall while the second person, believed to be a man, remained missing. Reports indicate the missing man was not wearing a life jacket. Long Beach Fire Department rescue boats responded and deployed a rescue swimmer to reach the woman on the breakwater. The woman was rescued and brought to the area of Ballast Point, where she was evaluated and transported with no to minor injuries. As of approximately 12:30 a.m., the second person had not been located. Long Beach firefighters, police and the U.S. Coast Guard continued searching the water. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.
