The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said a 911 call came in at 6:45 a.m., prompting a dispatcher to provide CPR instructions while the agency’s Air One helicopter located the boat. Flight Paramedic Brunelle then jumped from the helicopter into the lake and was the first responder to reach the fisherman. Patrol deputies later boarded a boat provided by a local man and were guided by Air One to the pontoon. They climbed aboard and continued CPR while Brunelle drove the boat toward shore to meet an ambulance. EMS personnel joined the response on the water and took over life-saving measures before the fisherman was brought ashore for transport to a hospital. The 56-year-old fisherman did not survive despite efforts to save him.
