US, Los Angeles: Santa Clarita Auto Shop at Center of Main Street Fire Investigation Burns Again.

Los Angeles, United States - September 20, 2026 09/20/2026 04:28 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – An auto body shop at the center of a massive structure fire that destroyed a block of historic buildings in Old Town Newhall last month caught fire again this afternoon. Heavy smoke and flames shot through the roof of Gary’s Auto Collision Center in the 24200 block of Railroad Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m., just shy of a month after an August 24 fire that originated at the shop tore through an entire block of century-old buildings. Firefighters received several 911 calls reporting smoke and flames at the property, with crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arriving on scene minutes later. Additional firefighters from across the Santa Clarita Valley were dispatched to the scene as crews worked to contain the flames inside the already heavily damaged property. The fire was declared knocked down shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday’s blaze comes less than a month after the August 24 fire devastated the same stretch of Railroad Avenue, destroying several businesses and historic structures in the heart of Old Town Newhall. The cause of Sunday’s fire remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s arson investigators, who also are still investigating the August fire as well as a fire at another auto shop owned by the same person. That Canyon Country shop also had a fire reported at the location today at 2:55 p.m.
