US: Brilliant Fireball Meteor Breaks Apart Across Night Sky South Of Nashville.
Jun 17, 2026
Brentwood, United States - June 14, 2026 Video filmed by X user MAJIK/studios captures a spectacular fireball meteor streaking across the night sky as a vehicle travels west on Old Hickory Boulevard. The bright object suddenly appears high in the frame and races through the darkness above a two-lane roadway marked by double yellow center lines and white edge stripes. As the meteor grows brighter, it forms a glowing trail before breaking into multiple fragments. During the breakup, its color shifts toward golden-orange tones. Headlights from oncoming vehicles illuminate the road, while trees, road signs, and distant lights line the surrounding area. A crop and zoom near the end of the footage brings the meteor's dramatic disintegration into closer view. "Re-uploaded in 4K with a crop zoom at the end. This is the fireball meteor from last night as captured by my dashcam just south of Nashville." The event occurred on June 14, 2026, at approximately 10:26-10:27 p.m. CDT. Identified as American Meteor Society Event 4372-2026, the super bolide was reported to be 16 times brighter than Venus and displayed a distinctive green glow. The meteor was observed across at least 13-15 states and generated nearly 400 reports from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, and other states. Witnesses described a long-lasting fireball that burned up high in the atmosphere without any ground impacts. Its path was theorized over the Tennessee-Arkansas-Missouri-Kentucky border region, moving toward St. Louis. Such sporadic fireballs occur when small asteroid fragments enter Earth's atmosphere at high speed, producing vivid displays of light before disintegrating.
