US: Tornado Touches Down Near Russell As Violent Arkansas Storms Intensify.
May 12, 2026
Russell, United States - May 10, 2026 A handheld video filmed by X user Scott on the evening of May 10, 2026, captured a rope-like tornado on the ground in a rural field near Russell during a severe weather outbreak across Arkansas. The footage shows a dark, twisting funnel descending from a massive wall of low storm clouds and extending down into a green grassy field. Dense trees can be seen in the foreground and midground as the tornado remains on the ground beneath the ominous sky. The shaky camera slowly zooms in and pans slightly to follow the funnel while rain and mist swirl around the tornado. A still image of the same scene was also attached to the post. The video was shared with the caption: “ryanvaughan Russell AR right now,” as dangerous supercells moved through the region. The tornado developed while storms across Arkansas were producing threats of large hail, damaging winds, and additional tornadoes. Active National Weather Service warnings were in effect in the area at the time the footage was recorded. The dramatic clip quickly spread online and was widely shared by meteorologists and storm chasers as one of the most striking videos from the May 10 severe weather event.
