Tampa, United States - September 09, 2026 A bright rainbow stretched across the water as a long, layered cloud bank formed along the horizon following a late-summer storm on Wednesday, September 9. Video filmed by X user Tampa Bay Storm Chaser shows the rainbow rising above the Tampa Bay shoreline, with its foot appearing on the opposite shore and fading into a gray rain shaft. The camera sweeps across cabbage palms, sandy shoreline and calm, shallow water before turning toward the cloud formation sitting low on the horizon. The scene captures the back side of a west-moving storm, with rain still falling offshore while outflow clouds linger along the horizon and the bay remains calm. There is no lightning, funnel or damage visible. A few walkers can be seen on the paved path during the final moments. Thunderstorms and light rain were recorded in the area that day, with official KTPA rainfall measuring 0.03 inches and a high of 91°F.
