Philippines - August 02, 2026 A wrecked vehicle has been retrieved from the Tarlac River after it plunged into the water when part of Agana Bridge collapsed during southwest monsoon flooding on August 29, 2026. The Philippine Coast Guard, Tarlac Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and other concerned agencies recovered the vehicle on September 2. An earlier attempt to lift it at around 2 p.m. failed, prompting the deployment of a larger-capacity crane. Night and dusk footage shows the silver MPV hanging from crane straps as a red crane and yellow Komatsu excavator work at the scene. The wreck is also seen upside down in muddy floodwater, covered with grass and debris. A gray Toyota Avanza carrying five people fell into the river when the bridge section in Barangay Tibag, Tarlac City, collapsed. Nathaniel Dizon, 20, was pulled from the water, while the other four were swept downstream. Two of the missing passengers had already been recovered in Pangasinan by September 2. The Philippine Coast Guard said its surface search continued for the two remaining missing passengers. Aquino Bridge in the same city had also failed the night before.
