Italy: Two Hikers Trapped On Dangerous Mountain Slope Rescued By Helicopter.

Cossogno, Italy - September 06, 2026 Two German hikers became stranded in an especially steep and dangerous area near Cima Marsicce, inside Val Grande National Park, in the municipal territory of Cossogno, on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Unable to continue or safely return, the two hikers called for help. The operations center dispatched the Drago VF 166 helicopter from the Malpensa Flight Department. The aircraft crew located the two hikers, who were shaken but found to be in good physical condition. They were winched aboard the helicopter and transferred to a safe area in Val Loana. There, they were handed over to ground teams from the fire brigade.
