According to local reports, a wildfire spread across a large area near Montagna Grande hill outside the Sicilian city of Trapani, with strong winds contributing to the fire’s expansion. Fire crews, helicopters and firefighting aircraft were deployed to contain the blaze. A separate wildfire erupted in scrubland near the town of Ugento in the southern Puglia region, prompting emergency response operations and affecting nearby residents. Authorities evacuated several campsites and holiday resorts as a precaution, with more than 500 people relocated from threatened areas. Officials said the Ugento fire was brought under control later in the day, while extinguishing and cooling operations continued.
