Storyline China unveils five-year plan for information, communications sector China is expected to build a next-generation communications network featuring comprehensive coverage and leading-edge performance. According to a five-year development plan released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the country will accelerate the development of an information and communications industrial system that is both secure and controllable, while remaining technologically advanced. The plan sets out 13 key targets, including achieving total revenue of 4.1 trillion yuan, or over 600 billion dollars, for the information and communications industry by 2030. Over the next five years, China will intensify efforts to make breakthroughs in 6G technology, including conducting continuous trials and experiments in this field. Wang Zhiqin, Vice President, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology: "The new-generation telecommunication networks are driven by new-generation innovation and application in the field. China will upgrade from dual-gigabit to dual-ten-gigabit networks and continue to expand the pilot scope of ten-gigabit optical networks, accelerate the deployment of new ultra-low-loss optical fibers and cables, and lay a solid foundation for the development of satellite communications."
